The Black Book: Seven Deadly Sins

Chapter 265: Am I going to be silenced?

In the center of the Martial Arts Arena, Yan Yunsheng and the young man stood back to back. He blankly looked at the broken knife in his hand, tremblingly reached out with another hand to touch his neck, and his fingertips touched a slick, slippery sensation.

Looking at the faint crimson on his fingertips, Yan Yunsheng subconsciously repeated the young man's earlier words.

"Those who block it will be conquered..."

Soon after, a bitter smile appeared on his face. Yan Yunsheng could no longer find any excuse and turned around with relief, bowing respectfully to the young man who had turned his back on the crowd, wholeheartedly accepting his superiority.

"Thank you, Inspector, for sparing me."

In that situation just now, if the other party had claimed to have accidentally killed him on the spot, it would probably have been left unresolved afterward as well.

No one would offend a rising absolute genius for the sake of a low-ranking petty official with no background!

On the other side, the young man, who was turned away from the crowd, did not respond. Instead, he exerted all his strength to calm the turbulent and surging inner breath and forcibly swallowed the blood rushing to his throat.

Originally, his 4.3 Body attribute was barely able to withstand the Mountain Shattering skill, but he forcibly switched moves midway, causing part of the explosive powerful force to backfire, equivalent to hitting himself!

In the eyes of others, the young man's silent and mysterious back seemed to disdain answering and appeared as if he was admiring the power of his moves, appearing inscrutable, majestic, and profound.

After a few breaths, Zhu Haomiao finally sorted out his chaotic inner breath, turned around, and gently tossed the sword in his hand, landing it precisely on the weapon rack.

"Find someone to repair the warehouse, Yan Doutou, come with me."

He passed by Yan Yunsheng without a glance, but this time there was no doubt about the order, and the onlookers parted like Moses parting the sea, leaving a spacious passage for Zhu Haomiao, looking at him with expressions of reverence and fear.

Yan Yunsheng, behind the young man, also quickly adjusted his attitude, bowing respectfully with fists clasped.

"As you command."

Following closely behind, Yan Yunsheng accompanied Zhu Haomiao as he walked straight to the prison of the Anti-theft Bureau.

The staff on duty there were unaware of what had just happened outside and the first to salute Yan Yunsheng upon meeting him.

"Great Captain..."

Before he could finish, Yan Yunsheng glared at them and reprimanded them harshly.

"No manners! Don't you see Inspector Li is here?!"

Startled by the outburst, the few on-duty staff members were unsure why Yan Yunsheng reacted so strongly but reluctantly clasped their fists to Zhu Haomiao.

"Greetings, Inspector Li."

"Hmm."

Zhu Haomiao was too lazy to bother with these small fry, nodding gently and stepping towards the depths of the prison.

This was his true purpose for coming here...

Meanwhile, Yan Yunsheng behind him glared at the staff again, signaling with his eyes that the situation had changed, and then hurriedly caught up to the young man.

"Sir! Sir, I'm innocent!"

Seeing the lavishly dressed young man stride in, the prisoners in the cells on both sides of the passage saw him as their last hope and rushed to the bars, shouting in unison, regardless of whether it was useful.

Some of the more emotional ones even reached out, like zombies trying to grab Zhu Haomiao.

However, it seemed that the design of the prison considered this, as the width of the passage was just right to prevent prisoners on either side from touching passersby.

Zhu Haomiao looked calmly at the prisoners and asked without turning his head.

"What are their situations?"

"Reporting to you, sir, these people are ruffians from the city, usually involved in petty thefts and minor infractions without serious crimes. Every now and then, they get caught in here."

"Don't be fooled by their pitiful cries. According to the law, they can't be locked up for long. If someone comes to bail them out, they'll be released in ten days or half a month."

Hearing this, Zhu Haomiao nodded thoughtfully.

No wonder they don't have much of a sinful aura, miles away from the 'food' I'm looking for.

Seeing this, although unsure why such a high and mighty Heaven's Chosen Son would be interested in lowly prisoners, Yan Yunsheng tentatively introduced.

"Sir, the real felons are held in the underground prison. Would you like to see?"

Upon hearing this, Zhu Haomiao's eyes brightened slightly, and he nodded with a light smile.

"Lead the way."

Yan Yunsheng clasped his fists in salute, leading the young man through twists and turns, arriving at a narrow stairway.

As they continued downward, a cold, damp air greeted them. Compared to the prison above, this place had very dim lighting, and each cell housed only one prisoner, but their auras were significantly more fierce than those of the ruffians above.

In the dark corners where light couldn't reach, the prisoners' eyes glowed green, like starving wolves, staring intently at the calm and handsome young man strolling about.

There was no speech or action, yet the unspoken sense of threat was a hundred times greater than the ruffians before.

Seeing this, Zhu Haomiao nodded in satisfaction.

These were the kind of talents he was looking for!

On the other side, when the felons noticed the young man was not afraid but rather surveyed the prison leisurely as if inspecting pigs, they instantly flew into a rage.

"Brat! Look at your mother! Look again, and Grandpa will slaughter your whole family when I get out!"

A burly man with a full beard rushed to the bars, roaring viciously at Zhu Haomiao.

However, the young man paid no attention to his ferocious threats, calmly looking toward Yan Yunsheng.

Yan Yunsheng immediately understood, quickly reporting.

"This guy is named Chai Qing, a Red Stick of the Tiger Head Gang. He was apprehended for intentionally injuring someone to death at Lechang Square and is temporarily held here at the Anti-theft Bureau."

Upon hearing this, Chai Qing arrogantly laughed: "Now that you know Grandpa's name, serve me well with food and drink, or else when Grandpa gets out, there'll be no good juice for you!"

"Tiger Head Gang?"

Zhu Haomiao blinked, curiously looking at Yan Yunsheng.

"Are they the lackeys raised by Duke Ning?"

At these words, Yan Yunsheng's eyes widened with shock. He knew the Tiger Head Gang had a mysterious protector, but he didn't know it was the renowned Duke Ning!

The bit of intelligence casually revealed by the young man made his scalp tingle.

Is this something a lowly person like me should hear?!

Am I going to be silenced?

On the other side, noticing Yan Yunsheng's reaction, Zhu Haomiao also realized his slip of the tongue and could only smile awkwardly.

At the same time, he also realized directly that although the Pingyang Earl was merely a fallen noble, there was still a massive information gap between him and the people at the bottom.

Topics that were almost openly discussed within the Royal Martial Academy were still mysterious and enigmatic to the ordinary folk.

Meanwhile, the bearded man was also stunned. He was just a small-time Red Stick, with ranks above him including the Double-Flower Red Stick, Hall Master, and Gang Leader...

Even above the Gang Leader, there were layers of white gloves, and even he didn't know that Duke Ning stood behind the gang!

Is this something a small fry like me should hear?!

Am I going to be silenced?

In an instant, the man and Yan Yunsheng had the same thought, looking at the young man with a hint of fear.
