Chapter 402 Senior and Best Friend_2
Colin thought silently.
However, he didn't get the news that the Frost Phantom had been wiped out, nor did Erwin announce the cancellation of the patrol. Instead, an unexpected visitor arrived—Lillian.
That afternoon, as the sun set in the west,
Colin was spearheading a steak when Renee came over and told him that Lillian had come for a visit.
Colin was somewhat surprised, wiped his mouth, and hurriedly stood up to go to the living room.
Lillian was sitting on a spacious sofa in the living room, wearing a simple white dress. Because of her petite stature, her delicate legs dangled without touching the ground, elegantly crossed together.
Seeing Colin approaching, a smile appeared on her face, though there was a faint, nearly imperceptible reproach in her eyes.
"Lillian, why are you here?"
Though thinking inwardly that it was because he hadn't returned to Neustadt City this month, Lillian, stroking the hair by her ears, said, "There was a mission. After completing it, I passed by Roon Kingdom and decided to come see you."
"I see, how did the mission go?" Colin sat opposite Lillian and gestured for Renee to bring some tea and snacks.
"It went fairly well…" Lillian smiled at Colin and casually asked, "Why haven't you returned to Neustadt City this month?"
"The Frost Phantom was spotted near Roon Kingdom. Wizard Erwin requested that we patrol the kingdom every day, so I got no vacation this month," Colin explained.
Having been in Roon Kingdom for over two years, Colin typically returned to Neustadt once a month, and each time, he would visit Atbolde and Lillian.
Visiting his mentor usually involved discussing details about his training or chatting about recent events.
Visiting Lillian, on the other hand, was more about letting Nasi and Bobi play together.
These two elves had gradually become very close friends.
And of course, there was also Demi; the three of them were playmates, and sometimes when Colin returned to Neustadt, he would bring Demi and Renee.
However, as Demi aged, her personality became more reserved, although her relationship with Nasi and Bobi remained very good, she was not as lively as the two little elves.
And her skills as a knight had reached the peak of the Great Knight, perhaps in another year or so, she could attempt to break through as a First Rank Knight!
Whereas Renee's talent in knighthood was far behind Demi's, although she also trained a lot, she still had a long way to go to reach the peak of the Great Knight.
"The Frost Phantom?" Lillian was a bit puzzled.
As an introverted elf hybrid, disliked at the School, she wasn't very well-informed.
Furthermore, the Frost Phantom was something only a few knew about, so this was the first time she was hearing this term from Colin.
"I am not quite sure about the specifics of the Frost Phantom either," Colin briefly explained to Lillian, including the recent major battle and how the Law Enforcement Team had seriously injured a Third Rank Wizard.
After listening, Lillian, holding the tea in her hands, couldn't help but express her concern, "Could it be too dangerous to have you First Rank Wizards patrolling, given that the Frost Phantom has managed to seriously injure a Third Rank Wizard?"
"Nois City Lord mentioned that it had self-destructed and its strength had significantly decreased, so our small team of three, if encountered, should be able to manage for a while."
Lillian nodded slightly, still somewhat worried.
"Thankfully, your stationing task will end in just over half a year. When you return to Neustadt City, it should be somewhat safer. I heard the situation at the front lines recently… seems to have undergone some new changes."
"Are we going to continue the war?" Colin raised his eyebrows slightly.
"I'm not sure of the details, but I heard that some small-scale fighting has taken place recently, and Neustadt City is again planning to recruit wizards for the front lines."
After a moment of silence, Lillian put down her tea and smiled again, "Let's not talk about that, have you had dinner yet? I recently invented a new dish, want to try it?"
"Sure," Colin replied smilingly as he stood up.
Ever since Lillian and Renee had learned how to roast a duck, their culinary exploration had become unstoppable.
Now, Lillian's cooking skills had dramatically improved, and she had even developed many new recipes.
Every time he returned to Neustadt City in the past two years, besides chatting with Lillian, the most common thing they did was cook together.
Wizards and cooking might seem a mismatch, but it's actually not so strange.
Wizards, possessing long lifespans, generally have a wide range of interests and hobbies. Those like Colin, who are constantly busy improving their strength, are actually in the minority.
"What's wrong, senior?"
Colin had just gotten up and taken a few steps when he suddenly noticed that Lillian wasn't following. He turned his head instinctively to ask but saw Lillian staring at the door, her expression somewhat puzzled.
Following her gaze, Shelley appeared in Colin's view.
This silver-haired girl, much like Lillian, was also gazing at her with a look of confusion on her face.
Colin was slightly startled, feeling inexplicably panicked.
'Wrong... why are you panicking?'
"Cough." Clearing his throat, Colin began to introduce them to each other:
"This is... Delorje, head of the Chasai Commerce, and also my friend."
"And this is Lillian, who is under the same mentor as me, and also my senior,"
"Hello," said Shelley calmly, her face expressionless.
"Hello..." Lillian greeted the girl in front of her, feeling an inexplicable sense of crisis arising in her.
She hadn't expected her junior brother, known for his intense practice, to have such a friend who could freely enter his home, and a beautiful witch at that!
Lillian pressed her lips tightly together, a smile appearing on her face as she took the initiative to say, "Is Lady Delorje looking for Colin for something? We were just about to make dinner together."
As a half-elf witch, Lillian had an extremely long life and never lacked patience.
So, for the past two years, she had just been silently waiting for everything to slowly unfold, waiting for the monthly meetings back in Neustadt City with Colin, waiting for things to naturally fall into place.
But now, instead of things falling into place, a new witch had appeared!
"It's nothing special, just a daily visit to chat," Shelley said lightly, her expression as calm as ever.
But whether it was an illusion or not, Colin thought he saw a strange gleaming light within her frosty blue eyes.
"Daily visits to chat?" Lillian's smile stiffened slightly, and she looked at Shelley in front of her and couldn't help turning to Colin with a puzzled look.
"Lady Delorje is highly accomplished in witchcraft, so we often share knowledge about witchcraft," Colin quickly explained.
"I see." Lillian didn't know whether to believe Colin, but her smile returned gracefully, "Do you still plan to exchange knowledge today? If so, I will go ahead with Renee to cook, and later we can all have dinner together."
"Senior, it's rare for you to visit; how can I let you cook alone..." Colin instinctively shook his head.
Lillian's lips curled into a nearly imperceptible smile.
After pondering for a moment, Colin hesitatingly suggested, "How about we go make dinner together? Or change the location to take a walk and chat?"
A mysterious spark crossed Shelley's eyes briefly before she casually responded, "Let's go for a walk then, since I also walk in the garden daily with Mr. Colin."
Colin's face stiffed and he cursed himself inwardly for his slip of tongue.
"A walk sounds good. Is there any interesting place in Roon Kingdom?
Maybe we could go out now while it's still light and come back to cook afterward? How about it?"
However, Lillian's reaction surprised Colin; she just kept smiling and said.
"That's fine." Shelley also quickly and calmly echoed, "The most worthy sight in Roon Kingdom is the golden wheat sea. Although it's not the most spectacular season right now, it is still worth seeing."
"Then let's go there."
Before Colin could grasp the situation, he found himself already outside Roon City in the fields.
