The Beast Tamer Is A Slime

Chapter 28: “Awakened Hunter Bureau”

A huge hall, half the size of a football field, with off-white walls and gray marble tiles, quickly came into view.

From afar, the height of the ceiling was equal to a two-story building, making the hall look even more vast and boundless.

At the center of the hall, crowds of people were pouring in and out from various corners.

The entire place was as noisy as a market.

Among the crowds, a black teenager quickly passed by Neo and the others, but his voice could be heard even amidst the chaotic noise around.

"Wow! Uncle, uncle! Is that the bureau's Information Board? The ones displaying the hunters' ranks, strength, and numbers?"

The boy's immature face flushed red with excitement, typical of newly awakened hunters.

He pointed at the countless gigantic LED screens embedded in the wall across the main entrance, on the left side and the right side, surrounding the entire hall.

"Hey, hey, don't point at things randomly, and don't shout!"

An adult black man beside the black youth immediately scolded the young teenager while looking around with anxiety, obviously not the youth's parent, yet was here to accompany the underage boy.

"Where is the registration for new hunters…did they change places? Damn it, this bureau is so fickle."

The uncle was busy looking for a place to register his nephew while the teenager quickly noticed rows of people lining up in front of three long black marble counters, right below those big screens.

Ten officers in blue uniform, exactly five men and five women, stood behind each of the counters, attending to the hunters with professional smiles on their faces.

"Uncle, uncle, that black counter— is that the registration place?"

The teenager pointed at one of the counters and this time, the uncle's eyes quickly followed what the boy was pointing at.

When he saw the long counter across the main entrance, his eyes immediately lit up.

"Okay, okay, that's the one! Let's go, let's go! Don't ever run out of my sight, you hear me— "

The adult dragged the youth to the counter and soon disappeared from Neo's sight.

After that black teenager, Neo saw a few more teens and children with no escorts just looking around the hall blankly.

But some officers in white uniforms would pass by these children and immediately take them to the relevant department.

A row of guards in black windbreakers also stood at every corner, quietly ensuring the order of this place.

—A few moments later—

After pushing the crowds and going through a lot of difficulties, the two people and one slime finally took an elevator with other hunters.

DING. 12'th Floor.

The door of the elevator slowly opened.

The moment the elevator door opened, John immediately used his burly physique to clear a way for Charlie, who was holding the backpack with Neo inside.

After they passed through the crowds, John caught his breath and started to introduce the twelfth floor to Charlie and Neo.

[As you can see, the twelfth floor is assigned for hunters who want to register wild beasts without contracts as their pet.]

John explained as the trio walked through a long corridor with many branches, often passing by hunters holding some strange beast, mostly slimes.

A small number of hunters who were not holding slimes were carrying pet carriers and one could take a glimpse of some strange snails, leeches or fungi inside.

Neo only found these four types of beasts so far, no other beasts in sight.

When passing by a small lobby among complicated corridors, Neo caught sight of a familiar thing.

It was a huge LED screen embedded in a pillar.

Many people passing by the screen would also stop for a few seconds and talk to each other while pointing at the screen with excitement.

"Ahhhh! This month's most popular pet beast is so cute!"

"Woww…what kind of slime is that? A hybrid or mutated? From which dungeon?"

"It's a man-made hybrid! Ah! I wanna ask my dad to buy one— "

Yes. What was shown on the screen was a slime, no different from any other adult slimes.

However, this slime actually had some kind of strange mutation.

It had a snail's antenna!

Neo had never seen such a strange slime.

Apparently, that slime is Slime City's "Pet Beast of The Month".

The most popular pet star of the moment.

Neo looked down at his cockroach body and silently spat at the cute slime with antenna on the screen.

Hmph. Shame on your slime race! How could a slime lower themselves to become a human's pet?

While Neo was busy hating on a random slime, John and Charlie had already brought him to a small room at some random corner.

[Slime Pet Registration— South Commercial Street Slime Dungeon]

The name of the room said it all.

No wonder there were so many rooms here when there was only one type of dungeon in this city.

They actually prepared one registration room for one specific dungeon!

They also prepared registration rooms for beasts brought out from dungeons in other cities.

However, John didn't immediately enter the room and actually found some random corner nearby with no people passing by.

Once he was sure that their place was a blind spot for surveillance cameras and there were no passersby, he immediately gestured at Charlie to open the cylinder tube in the backpack that the boy was hugging.

While unsealing the cylinder tube, Charlie couldn't help but ask John through telepathy.

[That…do we need Neo to return to his slime form?]

John subconsciously glared at Charlie, looking at the boy as if he was an idiot.

[Of course, you fool! Do you want to register a cockroach as a pet, huh??]

At least, a macho man like him wouldn't want to embarrass himself!

Oh, wait—

John suddenly had a new idea.

[Young man, how about we register the little ancestor under your name instead of me?]
