Chapter 73: Back Home
After thinking for a few moments, his motivation was renewed, and so, along with Habagat inside his coat, he turned around from his position and started heading in the direction of his base.
With each step he took, he moved with caution; he did so. After all, because he had just been ambushed earlier by a group of enemies. He would not want to get ambushed a second time, especially when he was so near his base, just a few hundred meters away.
Nothing much to think about. He glanced around and looked for anything interesting. It was then that he found something bright at a far distance, and when he thought about it, it suddenly clicked into him.
"I guess the base is bright at night, it might attract unwanted attention, I would need to vamp up defenses soon, so that it would remain defensible, and a concrete wall would also be nice, to at least block some of the light that is coming out into the forest. Though it would not be blocked in the sky." Quagmire thought to himself.
Thus, with a new purpose or things to do, he hastened his steps and after a few moments of walking, he arrived at the front of his base. What he saw left him speechless.
"The droids indeed work very efficiently, I cannot believe they have done a lot already… Is that?" Upon seeing something, Quagmire questioned.
"I see, so that is why multiple droids have now been manufactured and are in service, and looking over at the manufacturing plant, it seemed it is continuously working. Since droids have no life, they could work for an indefinite time as long as power is given, they are very efficient, and you don't have to pay them like a worker." Quagmire deduced as he looked over at the manufacturing plant with a pleasant smile.
Meanwhile, as Quagmire was fascinated by the things he was seeing, Habagat was looking over curiously at the things his master owned. Unable to take in his curiosity and the desire to explore more, he looked at his master, trying to pout or act cute, whatever works.
Quagmire was broken from his trance as he heard a whimper. he looked below him and saw Habagat acting. he tried to think of a reason, but when he saw him looking over the buildings, he let out a silent chuckle. Thus, he grabbed Habagat by its waist and placed it down.
Almost immediately after being placed down, Habagat dashed off into the buildings, curiously watching over the different new things he was seeing and experiencing. He would sometimes jump on platforms and stare from there. It seemed that he was transfixed by the new things, and so Quagmire left him to his own devices.
Thinking about the food, he left a small chuckle, as it seemed that Habagat had already forgotten that they were going to eat again. Nevertheless, he would cook an extra portion so that if Habagat wanted to eat again, then he would not need to cook again.
With that in mind, he searched for the surroundings and found that there was a room already made for him, which he planned on his own. It seemed that he could order the droids to build a blueprint that he devised on his own.
Which would mean the droids could be fed with custom blueprints that he made or found, and order them to build anything. Which is not limited to those only found in the adjutant system, as long as there is a manual or a blueprint, he can make it, provided with enough materials.
Upon arriving at the front door, he marveled at the intricate details he devised; it had the design and motifs of his world. he had the idea to bring his own culture and idea to this world as the leader of Humanity, or as they say, the Emperor of Humanity.
Grand may the title be, he believes that he must work hard for it, in order to achieve it, he was given a goal, and so he must work for it. Moreover, it is not like he is resistant to that kind of idea; a man must be ambitious after all. Nevertheless, staying grounded first and being ambitious later, he cannot have it snuffed out due to carelessness that could have been easily avoided.
With a twist of the wrist, the knob turned, and so he pushed it open and entered through the front door. The insides were typical of the modernity of his time, probably more advanced than anything found in this world. The difference is, it is extremely practical, and devoid of beauty, though he does not care, being cultured comes later, surviving comes first, and surviving involves not wasting precious resources.
He stepped forward and raised his hands, trying to grab something, and when he found something, a clicking sound was made, and a bright light shone through the ceiling. The light was just turned on in the room he was in, and with that, he was able to take in the view of the room he was in. He felt extremely comfortable, as he was finally near something familiar to him. Though it would not last long, he still breathed a sigh of relief, and a simple thanks to himself and to the goddess.
He was not a religious man, but ever since being given a second chance, it took a drastic turn, and so as he gave his thanks, he prayed to the goddess. After all, he was given the chance, he expected that he would not be able to experience anything related back on earth, he prepared for it, but this, this is even better. He was extremely glad to be back home once and for all, even if it was from another world. The sight of familiar things is a god given gift.
After thinking for a while and praying, he headed for the kitchen and started cooking the cow he had butchered earlier so that he and Habagat would have another meal. Tomorrow, he would check up on his children's progress.
