Chapter 71: Ambushed Again!
Quagmire's eyes widened as his Eagle's eye activated, he counted how many there were, and saw that there were five Flying Man Eaters. Those are ghouls who have their torsos severed and fly along with their upper bodies.
He fought a few before, and knew that those things were very tricky to deal with, because of the fact that he is in the forest that has a space that is spaciously wide from each tree, most likely from competition from each trees, and its hard for him to see them, while it is much more easier for them to see him, all they need to do is fly high and look.
Thankfully, he had the Eagle's eye, which he could use to see them accurately with good enough details and information for him to deal with them. Moreover, the moonlight that is coming from the moon is much better and more than enough; in fact, it is much brighter this night than it was a night ago.
With that in mind, despite being at a disadvantage, he hastened his steps and moved under a tree, so that it would be much harder for them to grab him or attack him. All the while, things are happening. Habagat whimpered in silence as he stayed tucked in Quagmire's inner coat.
Once he arrived at the shade of the tree, he hurriedly removed the magazine and replaced it with a new one, even though there were still a few rounds left.
This is because he needs it immediately, and now that there are five enemies and four bullets, it is not going to be enough. He cannot have himself be in a situation where he would need to reload during a fight. That is why, when it's not that chaotic yet, he seized the initiative and prepared.
With the pistol reloaded, he peeked under the shade and saw that the five Flying Man Eaters were circling above him. Once they saw him peek, one dived down with incredible speed. Upon seeing that the enemy was going for him, he made a dash for it, with quick and hasty steps, he landed on another shade of tree, just as the man-eater arrived at the other.
Thus, with a quick switch of the feet and a turn, he brought his hand with pistols forward and aimed. Once locked on the target, he pulled the trigger without mercy or even an ounce of thought. No matter what, it is something that does not deserve mercy or even to spare a thought of such things, after all, what is dead is already dead, only revived and given intelligence by the World's Virus.
Thus, laying it to rest once again is just part of the natural order of all things in the world. This may be a different world, a different set of things, other perspectives. However, there are some concepts of things that would never change, life and death, just as all things are.
A flash came out of the variable silencer, followed by a trail of smoke, and on the front, the man-eater fell and succumbed to its eternal fate.
Upon seeing their kind fell to such a state, the other four at the top growled in anger, but Quagmire was much more quicker, as if he would let them do more damage, or take even more of the initiative. With that he peeked at the shade, just enough, and fired two shots, just enough to dwindle down their numbers.
With two precise shots and a few slight hand movements, he was able to hit two man-eaters, which they fell and plummeted and crashed into the trees. In his mind, two more notifications rang a loud, which he abruptly mentally shut down, as he was in the middle of the fight.
Sensing danger coming from their prey, the three man-eaters left diverted from their location and attempted to do a pincer attack, each from their respective sides, and one on the front. They flew away from his line of sight, making sure he would not be able to see them attacking him.
Unfortunately, he had thought this would happen, and so even before they decided that, just after he fired the two shots, with graceful steps he was able to climb the tree and onto a tree branch, so when the three separated, he was able to follow them, with his eyes.
With his brain power, he made a mental note of the general direction of the other two and aimed at the other one. Once he got a clear line, he pulled the trigger. A loud crash erupted from its direction, along with dirt rising through the air. he saw that he came and he shot. It seemed that it was moving too fast for it to create such things. Nevertheless, he changed direction.
His eyes darted around and once he found it, he moved his hands forward, and placed his finger on the trigger, he waited until the perfect moment, and once it arrived, accounting for the bullet velocity and all that, he fired. With much strength put into focus, he followed them and recorded it.
All the while, Habagat, the wolf cub, watched in astonishment as his new master demolished the things that scared his kind the most. With that, his tail began to sway excitedly, noticing this, Quagmire left out a small chuckle.
"You really enjoy this, huh?" Quagmire asked Habagat while joyfully laughing.
"Woof!" Habagat replied along with a telepathic happy face.
Unfortunately, he got distracted again, thankfully, his instincts screamed at him, and so just as something was about to arrive, he was already out of the tree branch, and with him pointing the pistol from here, he was. As he was about to fall down, he saw that the man-eater had arrived at his past position, and so with a slight adjustment, he pulled the trigger while in midair.
The sound came with a bang, and the man-eater fell. Habagat, with eyes that seemed to turn into stars, stared at him, with his tail wagging.
"Woof," Habagat said calmly, with a telepathic face, of course.
