The Apocalyptic Command: A Military Isekai LitRPG

Chapter 35: Arrival

After a few hours of traveling and for the past few days, Quagmire had arrived at his chosen place where he would build his base. He had also earned plenty of money as he now possesses fifteen thousand six hundred gold coins in profit; the gold coins used in upgrades and restocking were already deducted from the current balance.

Standing before him was an enormous connecting mountain, as if surrounding the central area in which he was. Along its sides was a river that was deep enough for ships to travel and build ports into. Its depths were comparable to the Nile River at its height, and to this day, it still thrives with unknown life and, moreover, resources that are waiting to be exploited.

Last but not least, if the mountains were forming the shape of a crescent moon, at its mouth lies a massive forest that is suitable for residential and industrial complexes. The Mountain and Beyond will provide the necessary metals and ores for industrialization. If the material required is not present, the Pathfinder has already inserted its data into the database, so he could just access it when he needs it.

With the location now set, Quagmire ordered the Pathfinder to transform into a Central Power Beacon. When the lines of power need to be extended, he would just order the construction droids to make the Central Extension Power Annex to extend the supply lines further.

With the command finally given, the Pathfinder gleefully took to its engines and sped up to the designated spot. On the side, Quagmire was vehemently watching what the Pathfinder would do to bring electricity into this world. Fortunately, it did not disappoint him, as when it arrived, it disappeared.

With his mouth agape, he looked from left to right, trying to find where it had gone; just earlier, it was there, and now there was not. How crazy could that be? Fortunately as he was focused his eyes, therefore activating the Eagle's eyes as he placed his hands on his pistol at its holster.

Space itself was being distorted, and soon enough, a bright glow entered the atmosphere; the hue of the color was blue, the same color as the night sky under the moon.

That's when suddenly sparks of electricity started to spark everywhere around the Pathfinder disappeared. The space was getting even more distorted, and a blank black space came about in the middle of the light. It twisted into the already distorted space; it made him dizzy and anxious.

Fortunately, Quagmire steeled himself, as he wanted to witness one of the first of marks that he would leave in this accursed world. The air became stale, and soon enough, oxygen was now lacking; he breathed with great difficulty, yet he resisted despite all the danger signs ringing in his head.

The blue light became stronger and bigger, and so the blank black space joined it; with the distortion becoming stronger and stronger, the pressure was gaining notches upon notches. Rocks around him were levitating as small lightning sparks permeated the bright, sunny day.

The temperature drops dozens of degrees below, and what once was a hot day afternoon has now turned into a freezing cold winter that does not actually have a smoke. The cold breeze of the wind did not help either; everything was freezing, and the coldness continued to increase to no avail.

Fortunately, soon enough, after a few grueling minutes since the disappearance of The Pathfinder. A silhouette started to appear from where it disappeared. It seemed like a pyramid but is not a pyramid. As if it was some ancient technology from a long-lost civilization.

"!!!" The ground rumbled intensely, to the shock of Quagmire, glancing from left to right, he steeled once again.

The bright light started to get smaller and smaller, and behind a silhouette of an ancient technology started to appear. Unfortunately, the black sphere suddenly sucked the surroundings. He felt his body weight decrease as he started to levitate. Anxiety welled up inside him. He grabbed a hold of a branch not far from his location.

When he was about to lose his grip, memories started to flash through his mind. Thankfully, before he was able to let go, the gravity returned to its normalcy, and everything was back to normal. His body crashed through the ground during which he suffered a few minor scratches and bruises. Nevertheless, he was still able to function.

With those in mind, he pushed all the unnecessary thoughts away and dusted off the dirt from his clothes. He carefully observed his clothes, thinking if he needed to replace them with another one. Thankfully, it seemed like he did not need to in the meantime. With confidence present, he pushed his right food behind and turned around.

The shock was evident from his gaping mouth. After all, who would not be shocked by what he was seeing? It does not look like any power plants, any nuclear power plants, or a coal factory. No, but a giant blue stone that is more crude than the average future of a common Joe.

Again, with the weird design, it has the proportion of a drop of water, but it is not symmetrical, which is very annoying. However, there were golden rings with blue energy throbbing around it. The blue energy was moving around the area. It must have been its maximum distance where its energy could reach.

He observed from left to right to confirm his suspicion, and it was true. All around the place, there was blue swirling energy; the entire place now looked like it came from a fantasy book, except it was. Not only that was shocking but even more shocking was the fact that the entire thing was still floating and stable. He tried to push it, but it did not budge. Furthermore, the interface of the Central Power Beacon, the name of the thing in front of him, is connected to the interface in his Adjutant System.

"!!!" The sound of flapping wings roared through the area, and the vibrations of the ground as the beatings of the heart got in sync with the unfolding situation.

He wanted to continue building. Unfortunately, it seemed like he needed to clear the immediate surroundings first.
