Chapter 19: The Frenzied Elixir

The recent transformations in Mo Yang had been nothing short of astonishing, leaving the elders of Lingxu Sect feeling deeply perplexed.

The Grand Elder, in particular, had been unusually frustrated over the past few days. The more he observed Mo Yang, the less he seemed to understand him. It was as though Mo Yang had become completely unreadable.

Having lived for so many years, the Grand Elder knew that Mo Yang's sudden changes had to have a reason. Especially his mastery of alchemy—it was likely that Mo Yang had encountered a highly skilled master. Without such guidance, these developments would be impossible to explain.

In the days that followed, the entire Lingxu Sect buzzed with activity. Many disciples were talking about Mo Yang, speculating that his impressive cultivation might be linked to a particular elixir.

Even Mo Yang himself found the situation troublesome. The peace on Wood Peak had been completely shattered, as countless disciples came flocking to him, begging for medicine.

What was worse, many of the female disciples came with "other intentions."

Su Feier, for instance, had recently undergone an astonishing transformation. Not only had her cultivation advanced significantly, but she now exuded a certain spiritual charm. Her figure had become more slender and graceful, and her skin was as smooth and delicate as that of a newborn.

It was evident that Mo Yang's medicine didn't just enhance one's cultivation—it had beautifying effects as well.

In the second layer of the Star Sovereign Tower, Mo Yang sat cross-legged in front of his Creation Cauldron, speaking to himself:

"It seems the matter of the elixirs can no longer be hidden. Since that's the case, why not take it a step further?"

The saying "A man must act in his own interest, or else heaven and earth will destroy him" guided Mo Yang's thinking. There was no way he would simply give away his elixirs for free. Now that his alchemy skills had reached new heights, his demand for medicinal ingredients had grown as well.

The best solution was to exchange elixirs for herbs.

On the Xuantian Continent, while elixirs were extremely expensive, ordinary herbs were relatively cheap and affordable for most disciples.

More importantly, Mo Yang had his eyes on the elders of Lingxu Sect. If he didn't squeeze some "oil" out of them, he felt he would be letting himself down.

"Just as well, my cultivation has recently broken through to the Tianxuan Realm. I should take some time to consolidate my foundation. Pursuing speed too aggressively might backfire."

That very day, a message from Mo Yang spread like wildfire throughout the Lingxu Sect:

Any disciple of the sect could bring herbs to Wood Peak to exchange for elixirs.

Alongside the announcement, a list began circulating among the disciples. The list detailed three types of elixirs available for exchange:

Essence Gathering Pill

Marrow Cleansing Pill

Youth Preservation Pill

The list also clearly described the effects of each elixir, as well as the types and quantities of herbs required for the exchange.

The entire Lingxu Sect erupted into chaos.

Although some details about Mo Yang's medicines had been intentionally withheld by the elders, disciples now realized that he wasn't dealing in ordinary medicine—he was producing elixirs. The revelation hit like a thunderbolt.

"Exchange herbs for elixirs? Could Mo Yang actually be an alchemist?"

"The Marrow Cleansing Pill alone is priceless on the market. Where is he getting so many of them? Did he stumble upon some heaven-defying opportunity?"

"Who cares? I'm going to gather herbs and exchange for one before it's too late. If I wait, there might not even be scraps left!"

Within moments, countless disciples left Lingxu Sect in search of herbs.

Though they couldn't simply raid the sect's treasure vault as Mo Yang had, they headed to nearby cities to purchase herbs from apothecaries.

Meanwhile, Mo Yang had opened the gates of his courtyard on Wood Peak.

He set up a table and chair in the small courtyard, filling the table with bottles of elixirs. Seated like a physician treating patients, he looked every bit the part.

Wood Peak quickly became the liveliest place in the sect.

Disciples streamed toward the peak, herbs in hand, hoping to exchange for elixirs. Even late at night, the stone path leading to Wood Peak was crowded with disciples coming and going.

Some female disciples even sold their jade hairpins and other jewelry to raise funds for herbs, just so they could get their hands on an elixir.

In the Main Hall on the sect's central peak, a group of elders exchanged glances with each other.

"What in the world is going on? Mo Yang has actually set up a shop on Wood Peak, and within a single day, his business has boomed. The sect feels like a marketplace now!" complained the Second Elder, clearly upset.

The First Elder also spoke gravely:

"Lingxu Sect is a cultivation sect, not a pharmacy or a market. With this commotion, how is anyone supposed to focus on their training?"

He continued, "Mo Yang took so many herbs from the sect's treasure vault, and now he's turned them into elixirs and is selling them within the sect! I believe those elixirs should be confiscated for the benefit of the sect!"

The Third Elder chuckled. "You two old foxes just want the elixirs for yourselves. Why make so many excuses? Sure, the herbs came from the sect's vault, but that's not the point. The point is that Mo Yang has turned them into elixirs, and it's the disciples who are benefiting. Personally, I find this kid rather interesting."

The Grand Elder stroked his beard and added, "The annual Martial Arts Tournament of the Four Sects is approaching. If our disciples can all advance in cultivation, we might avoid the embarrassment of placing last again. It's been five years since Lingxu Sect has held anything but the bottom spot. If we win this time, it would mean a great deal for the sect."

At this, the elders fell silent.

The tournament was just a month away. For the past five years, Lingxu Sect had been stuck in a seemingly cursed state, with no promising talents rising among the younger generation. Every tournament had ended with the sect in last place.

"If Mo Yang participates, we might actually have a chance at winning this year…" the sect master mused after a moment of thought.

Currently, Mo Yang was already the most powerful disciple in the sect. With his strength, he stood a good chance against the strongest disciples from the other three sects.

Of course, not even the Grand Elder knew that Mo Yang had already reached the Tianxuan Realm. Among the disciples of the other three sects, no one had achieved that level of cultivation in prior years.

Back on Wood Peak, Mo Yang had closed his doors for the night.

The herbs he had received in exchange for elixirs had been moved into the Star Sovereign Tower, piled into a small mountain.

Walking around the piles of herbs, Mo Yang couldn't help but rub his hands together in excitement. "I'm a genius! I even managed to gather materials for other elixirs."

At this rate, he would never have to worry about a shortage of medicinal ingredients again.

In the following days, Wood Peak grew even livelier.

The efficacy of Mo Yang's elixirs had been confirmed.

Disciples who had taken the Marrow Cleansing Pill or the Youth Preservation Pill reported dramatic improvements, describing the experience as "rebirth."

Meanwhile, several disciples who had used the Essence Gathering Pill successfully broke through bottlenecks in their cultivation, shocking and delighting the elders of Lingxu Sect.

Even the Grand Elder hadn't anticipated such results. In the sect's cultivation chambers, dozens of disciples advanced their realms overnight. Nearly ten new second-tier Transcendent Realm disciples emerged in a single evening.

Both Qi Heng and Xu Xin, two prominent figures among the sect's disciples, couldn't resist heading to Wood Peak after hearing that someone had advanced two minor realms after taking the Marrow Cleansing Pill.

The allure of such a miraculous elixir was too great for anyone to ignore.
