The Almighty Diva: Reborn to be Worshipped

Chapter 5: The Little Girl with a Golden Heart

Ji Chuxing, chewing on a piece of milk candy, was utterly bewildered.

"Sure enough, you don't remember," Bo Yanchen sighed, his tone tinged with regret.

Ji Chuxing racked her brain, trying to recall any connection between the original host and this strikingly handsome man—but nothing came to mind.

Bo Yanchen decided to jog her memory. "Seven years ago, how old were you then?" He raised his hand to indicate her height at the time. "Old Master Ji treated me for an illness."

Though Grandpa Ji had lived in the countryside, Ji Chuxing recalled from the original host's memories that he must have been an exceptionally skilled traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. Many people sought him out each year for treatment. However, she only had vague impressions of his abilities and no concrete understanding, so she couldn't be certain.

So it was seven years ago? The original host would have been only ten years old then.

Ji Chuxing glanced at Bo Yanchen, rolling the milk candy around in her mouth as she asked, her voice muffled, "So, how did the treatment go?"

Bo Yanchen didn't expect her to remember much; after all, she'd been so young back then. During his half-month stay at the Ji family home, he'd seen the little girl only two or three times. Each time, she'd been shy, hiding and not daring to come out.

"Hmm, it went quite well," Bo Yanchen said. "I was in serious condition, and Old Master Ji helped me a great deal."

Ji Chuxing thought for a moment and said earnestly, "Grandpa saved your life."

Bo Yanchen raised an eyebrow but didn't deny it.

Ji Chuxing nodded and held out her small hand. "Not much—just one hundred thousand yuan."

She paused, then added, "For medical expenses. It's not like I'm trying to scam you!"

Bo Yanchen was momentarily taken aback before realizing the little girl was attempting to extort money from him. But her eyes were clear, and she didn't seem to harbor any ill intentions.

He found it amusing and tilted his head, studying her. "A little money-grubber, are we?"

Ji Chuxing didn't think there was anything wrong. If Grandpa could treat someone like this, he clearly wasn't just an ordinary country doctor—but he definitely hadn't charged much. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so poor.

"Well, a life-saving favor should be repaid generously," Ji Chuxing said seriously.

"Alright, I agree. A life-saving favor should indeed be repaid generously."

Since the little girl needed money, and she was Old Master Ji's granddaughter, Bo Yanchen naturally couldn't ignore her. He took a card from his wallet and handed it to her. "Here's the medical fee, settled now."

Without hesitation, Ji Chuxing tucked it into her backpack. Great, she had money again.

In the front seat, Fang He's lips twitched almost to the point of cramping. He wasn't sure if something was wrong with him or with his boss today. He didn't dare say anything, nor did he dare ask.

As the car entered the city, Ji Chuxing suddenly asked, "What's your name?"

"Bo Yanchen," he replied.

Ji Chuxeng nodded. Fang He, who was driving, couldn't help but interject, "Everyone calls him 'Second Master.'"

Ji Chuxing frowned. "I don't like calling others 'Master.'"

Only others called her 'Master.' No one had ever made her call them 'Master.'

Fang He: "…"

Miss, it's not about whether you like it or not. His status is clear. In the entire North City, even Second Uncle of the Bo family doesn't dare to be called 'Second Master.' This title is exclusive to Bo Yanchen.

Bo Yanchen, however, didn't mind. "Call me whatever you like."

Ji Chuxing thought for a moment. "But since you helped me, I can call you Second Brother."

"Cough! Cough, cough, cough!"

Fang He nearly swerved the steering wheel.

No one dared to call Second Master that.

Bo Yanchen raised an eyebrow, savoring the title in his mind and finding it novel. "Alright, you can call me that."

Since the little girl called him brother, he would treat her like a younger sister. After all, she was Old Master Ji's granddaughter, and it was only right to take care of her.

Ji Chuxing shook her head, a few strands of hair sticking up, looking quite pleased.

Bo Yanchen, unable to resist, reached out to smooth down the tuft of hair, his voice unintentionally affectionate. "Such a good girl."

Ji Chuxing frowned and dodged. "Don't touch my head."

"What will happen if I do?" Bo Yanchen asked, raising an eyebrow.

Ji Chuxing said seriously, "I'll beat you up!"

Bo Yanchen finally burst into laughter. The little girl had quite a temper, but beat him?

With that little body?

Ji Chuxing gave him a puzzled look, wondering what was so funny.

Just then, as the car was about to turn, another car suddenly sped towards them.

Fang He, distracted by Bo Yanchen's rare laughter, was a second too slow in reacting. As the car was about to collide, his heart leapt to his throat!

In an instant, he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder and a powerful force pulling him back. The steering wheel turned sharply, narrowly avoiding the collision. Their car remained stable, but the other car nearly crashed into the wall before making a sharp turn and speeding away.

It was a close call.

Fang He took a deep breath, his back drenched in sweat. "Sir..."

Bo Yanchen's thin lips pressed together, and the car fell silent.

"Thanks to you, sir," Fang He said, ashamed. If something had happened to Bo Yanchen, he would never forgive himself.

Bo Yanchen glanced at him. "It wasn't me."

Fang He was stunned.

Ji Chuxing bit down on the last piece of milk candy, opened another container, and popped two more pieces into her mouth. She held out her hand. "One hundred thousand yuan."

Fang He: "…"

In the end, Ji Chuxing not only got another card but was also taken to the best restaurant in South City by Bo Yanchen. She went to the restroom.

Fang He, thinking of the recent incident, looked serious. "Sir, we've found out. It was them again."

The internal conflicts within the Bo family were severe. Bo Yanchen's visit to South City for rest and recuperation made some people uncomfortable, and many wanted him to stay here permanently. The incident was no accident.

Bo Yanchen, unsurprised, said, "Send them back to the Bo family."

Fang He agreed, hesitating to speak further.

Bo Yanchen, sipping tea, lifted an eyelid. "Speak."

Fang He was conflicted. "Miss Ji..."

From the way she pulled and pushed, it was clear that this Miss Ji, who had returned from the countryside, was nothing like the rumors of being rude and timid. Fang He's arm was still numb. If he had been weaker, his arm would have been dislocated. Now, he believed the little girl could indeed beat up Bo Yanchen.

Bo Yanchen said, "Old Master Ji's granddaughter. The Wen family has truly treated a pearl as a fish eye."

"But, this little girl, she's quite interesting."

The "interesting" little girl, after coming out of the restroom, paused for a moment.

Ji Chuxing blinked.

Across from the top hotel in South City, on the 17th floor of a building, a sniper, dressed in black and wearing a baseball cap, had his scope aimed at the restaurant in the hotel.

Just as he was about to pull the trigger, he felt a light tap on his shoulder. This was something he had never experienced in his career.

His scalp tingled, and he slowly turned to see who was behind him.

---

Five minutes later, Ji Chuxing returned to the restaurant.

Bo Yanchen raised an eyebrow. "Took you long enough?"

"Hmm, I got lost."

Bo Yanchen chuckled. "Little direction-challenged, huh?"

Ji Chuxing gave him a speechless look and didn't respond.

Bo Yanchen laughed and pushed the menu to her. "Order something."

Ten minutes later, the table was filled with twelve bottles of juice, sweet and sour spare ribs, sweet and sour fish, sweet and sour pork, a bowl of osmanthus rock sugar, and a box of ice cream.

Bo Yanchen didn't know where to start.

Ji Chuxing happily slurped her orange juice, enjoying her meal.

That night, Bo Yanchen brought the little girl back to his apartment in South City. Fang He carried a large bag of jelly and a big can of milk candies, bought from the supermarket just ten minutes ago.

Fang He's face was a bit sullen, but he didn't say anything.

Ji Chuxing, holding a box of jelly, used a small spoon to eat while walking back. She had originally planned to stay at a hotel, but a night there cost six hundred yuan! She decisively followed Bo Yanchen back.

After putting the jelly in the fridge, Ji Chuxing grabbed several more bags, four in total, each a different flavor.

Bo Yanchen wheeled over, pressing his temples. "You can't eat more tonight. It's bad for your teeth."

Ji Chuxing refused to let go. She stared at Bo Yanchen, her lips pouting so much they could hold two buckets of oil.

Bo Yanchen couldn't resist her pitiful look and compromised. "Fine, you can have one."

"Three!" Ji Chuxing bargained.

"Two."

Ji Chuxing kept two bags and put the rest back in the fridge, sprawling on the sofa like a lazy cat, slurping her jelly.

Despite being used to it, Fang He was still stunned, as if he had seen a ghost.

Bo Yanchen sighed, realizing he had fallen for the little girl's tricks.

---

Late at night, in the study.

Bo Yanchen was on the phone, frowning. "No traces found at the scene?"

The person on the other end was flustered. "Damn, Second Master, you wouldn't believe it. When I got there, the sniper was already dead, and there wasn't even a footprint. If it weren't for the needle mark on his neck, I'd think he died from staring at you day and night!"

Bo Yanchen's thin lips pressed together, and he remained silent.

"But…" Wei Xingzhou hesitated.

"Speak."

On the other end, Wei Xingzhou scratched his head. "I feel like the guy was robbed. His gun was gone, and everything valuable on him, even the ring on his hand, was forcibly taken."

Wei Xingzhou remembered the sniper's miserable state when he first arrived and winced. Who did this, a fighter or a robber?

Bo Yanchen's mind flashed to the little girl's greedy expression, but he shook his head in exasperation.

The person on the other end also found it strange. "What do you think happened?"

Bo Yanchen said, "Keep investigating."

"Okay." Wei Xingzhou responded, a bit nonchalant. "By the way, I heard you picked up a little girl today. Is our Second Master finally blooming?"

Bo Yanchen's tone was flat. "She's Old Master Ji's granddaughter."

"What Old Ji… Oh, you mean the little girl the Wen family brought back. Damn, Second Master, she's underage, you're too much of a beast!"

Bo Yanchen frowned and snorted. "Put away those filthy thoughts. The little girl has no one to protect her. How could I ignore Old Master Ji's granddaughter?"

Wei Xingzhou: …Haha!

He couldn't believe it. When had this man ever been so kind?

Meanwhile, the "unprotected" little girl, after taking a bath, was lazily sprawled on the bed.

Ji Chuxing pulled her backpack and took out her loot for the night: a small silenced gun.

She pursed her lips, a bit disappointed. This thing was inferior to the junk in her lab. But she sighed, "At least it's better than nothing."

She put it back in her backpack, along with the two bank cards and a small bag of valuable trinkets, her loot for the day.

Tomorrow, she'd find a time to sell them! She smiled, her eyes curving in satisfaction.

However, thinking of the five hundred yuan left at the Wen family's house, she felt a pang of regret and wanted to retrieve it immediately.

Late at night, the girl yawned, her eyes watery. Annoying, this body was too weak; she needed to sleep early, or she might really die.

But, remembering something, she suddenly jumped out of bed, quietly opening her bedroom door. The corridor was dimly lit, and the house was silent. She tiptoed carefully to the kitchen.

Half a minute later, she ran back to her room, hugging several bags of jelly, chomping on them contentedly.
