Chapter 6 - Money And Food
Zander walked for what felt like a long time until he finally reached a town. As he stepped inside, a wave of shock washed over him at the sight of thousands upon thousands of mutilated corpses scattered across the ground. Confusion clouded his mind as he wondered what could have happened here.
Determined to uncover the truth, he cautiously strolled through the horrific scene, searching for any clues that might explain the devastation.
He then approached a house with an exposed roof. To his surprise, he found seven people inside, all huddled together and covered.
“ Hey are you guys ok!” he said.
They signaled for him to be quiet, and Zander moved closer, curiosity piquing. “What happened here?” he asked softly.
One of them leaned in, eyes wide with fear. “He will eat us if we are loud,” they whispered urgently.
“Who?” Zander asked, confusion etched on his face.
“The Monstrosity Human Eater,” one of them replied, trembling.
“The Monstrosity Human Eater? Sounds like some made-up creature,” Zander scoffed.
“No, he’s real,” the person insisted, their voice shaking. “The whole town was normal, but then… he towered over us and started consuming everyone.”
“Where is he?” Zander demanded.
“We don’t know,” the person replied, panic rising in their voice.
Suddenly, a massive sound shook the ground beneath them, causing the walls to tremble. The fear in the house escalated as the others began to panic.
Thinking quickly, Zander created clones of himself, each one ready to help. “Hey, you guys, take them far away from here!” Zander instructed his clones. They nodded and quickly led the terrified group out of the house and into a much safer location.
Once he was alone, Zander walked outside to face the source of the terrifying noise. Before him stood a monstrous figure towering 520 feet tall, its form casting a long shadow over the town.
“Hey! You must be The Monstrosity Human Eater!” Zander called out.
The creature let out a deep, rumbling laugh. “Yes, I am!”
“You ate the people from this town!” Zander accused.
“Of course! I was starving for two days until I found this small town. Now I am here because I want to eat again,” the monster replied, its eyes narrowing with hunger. “And you will be my first snack!”
“Come at me, big boy!” Zander shouted defiantly while summoning his sword.
The Monstrosity Human Eater raised its massive foot, preparing to stomp down on him. In a swift motion, Zander thrust his sword upward, using it to deflect the monstrous blow.
He quickly summoned hundreds of clones, each armed with different weapons—swords, spears, axes, maces and bows. They surrounded the giant, and all at once jumped him. Some of Zander’s clones floated up into the air, unleashing hundreds of arrows that rained down on the Monstrosity Human Eater. The arrows struck the creature's hide, causing it to roar in frustration.
Meanwhile, other clones took flight, soaring around the monster and using their weapons to slice and cut into its massive form. Together, they launched a coordinated attack. The Monstrosity Human Eater swung its enormous arms wildly, trying to catch the attacking clones. To its advantage, it managed to crush a few, their forms disappearing in an instant.
But just then, one of Zander’s clones swapped places with him, allowing Zander to seize the opportunity. He charged forward and swung his sword. landing a huge gush across the monster's chest. With a loud roar, the Monstrosity Human Eater jumped high into the air, its huge body casting a shadow over Zander. It twisted in mid-air, ready to come crashing down on him like a giant avalanche.
Zander smiled, letting the monster come down on him. The Monstrosity Human Eater crashed into the ground with a deafening thud, sending a shockwave that rippled through the area. The force was so powerful that it sent loud sounds to the whole area.
Mercury, sitting on his throne and engrossed in a book, paused at the loud noise. “What was that?” he wondered, his curiosity rising.
Meanwhile, the Monstrosity Human Eater lay on its belly, dust and debris swirling around it. It laughed triumphantly, its voice booming through the chaos. “I WON! TO THINK A PITIFUL LITTLE HUMAN THOUGHT HE COULD STOP ME!”
Suddenly, the Monstrosity Human Eater felt a sharp object pierce through its back. It roared in confusion and pain as a massive sword erupted from its body.
“What is this! The human is still alive! This is not right! I wi—” The Monstrosity Human Eater's words were cut off as something within its stomach activated. Suddenly, the massive sword shrank down, moving swiftly through the creature's body before piercing through its head, ending its life.
Once the monster was defeated, the sword shrank again, and Zander emerged from its head.
“Jeez, it stinks in there,” he remarked, wrinkling his nose. With the monster now killed, Zander took out his journal and began to draw, capturing the moment and the victory. The monster's body began to dissolve as the clones returned to their original forms.
“Hey, guys, where did you put the people?” Zander asked, curious.
“We put them in a kingdom,” one of the clones replied.
“What kingdom?” Zander pressed, eager to know more.
“The kingdom to the south,” the clone pointed.
Zander summoned his sword, thrusting it into the ground as he shouted, “Expand!”
The blade elongated, stretching out until it reached far enough for Zander to catch a glimpse of the kingdom below. He gazed at the kingdom in all its glory.
“It’s massive!” Zander shouted, his eyes wide with excitement. “I’m going there next!”
In the bustling kingdom, the streets were filled with people—shopping at the markets, children playing, and animals darting around. Among them was a black dog weaving through the crowd. The dog slipped into an alleyway unnoticed, and as soon as it was out of sight, it transformed back into Zander.
Zander lurked in the shadows, scanning the lively kingdom. "Okay, let’s see what this place has to offer," he muttered to himself.
His eyes landed on a diner with a large, glowing sign that read, "All Food, All Food." Just then, his stomach growled loudly, reminding him how long it had been since his last meal. Without wasting another second, he rushed inside. As Zander entered the diner and took a seat by the window, the chatter in the room quieted. People stared at him curiously.
One person whispered under his breath, “Is he a demon?”
“I don’t know,” another replied quietly. “I’ve never seen anyone with gray skin before.”
The people in the diner, though still wary, slowly returned to their meals, casting occasional cautious glances toward Zander. Conversations resumed but Zander was just waiting for his meal. A waiter cautiously approached Zander, glancing at his gray skin with concern.
“Um... sir, are you okay? You’re not, uh, coming down with a sickness or something, are you?” the waiter asked hesitantly
“Nah, just hungry, that’s all,” Zander replied casually.
“Well… okay then,” the waiter said, still a little unsure. “What would you like to order?” He handed Zander the menu.
Zander scanned the whole menu, his eyes darting from dish to dish. There were so many choices that he couldn’t make up his mind. After a moment, he smirked and made his decision.
“I want all of it,” Zander said confidently.
The waiter blinked in shock. “All of it?” he repeated, not sure if he’d heard correctly.
“Yeah, everything,” Zander replied with a grin.
“I mean, sir, it might take a whi—” the waiter began, but Zander cut him off.
“I want my food. If y’all don’t serve food, then why am I here?” Zander said, his tone firm but not aggressive.
The waiter straightened up, realizing he had no choice. “Sorry, sir. We’ll get it for you right away,” he said quickly, turning to rush back to the kitchen.
“That’s the kind of wait I like to hear,” Zander mumbled, a small grin forming as he looked out the window.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, one of the waiters rushed over to the head chef. “Hey, chief.”
The chef, busy stirring a pot, glanced up. “What is it?”
“That gray man out there... he just ordered everything.”
The chef’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Everything?”
“Yeah, everything on the menu.”
“This is amazing!” the chef exclaimed.
“What? B-but, Chief, it’s a lot of food for one person!” the waiter stammered, clearly nervous.
The chef shot him a look. “Think about it, Fenn. That man ordered everything on the menu, which means he’s loaded. We’re about to make a fortune!”
“But, Chief… Does he look like someone who has that much money?” Fenn asked, glancing back toward Zander's table.
The chef waved him off. “Who cares what he looks like? We need this money. Besides, that damn king’s been running this kingdom dry. A customer like him? He’s a blessing!”
“Alright, then! Tell all the cooks to come back here so they can start cooking!” the chef commanded.
Fenn nodded, rushing off to gather the kitchen staff. Hours passed, and Zander's stomach growled loudly, his frustration growing. Just as he was about to lose his patience, the kitchen doors swung open, and a line of cooks emerged, carrying a mountain of food.
They rushed over with trays full of steaming soup, sizzling meats, and colorful sides. Zander's mouth watered at the sight, his irritation fading as he focused on the delicious spread before him.
“Um, sir, this is every—” Fenn began, but he was quickly cut off as Zander dove into the food, devouring it with incredible speed. The chefs and patrons in the diner watched in shock and awe, unable to comprehend how fast he was eating. Within just ten minutes, every last morsel was gone, leaving everyone with their jaws dropped in disbelief.
"All right, I'm stuffed!" Zander exclaimed, leaning back in his chair.
Fenn hesitated, then said, “Well… sir… you ate everything, and your bill is 300,000.”
“What? I have to… pay?” Zander's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Yes, sir," Fenn replied.
"Oh, well, I have no money. Sorry," Zander said, shrugging.
Fenn's eyes flared with rage as he grabbed Zander. "You scamming piece of scum! Do you have any idea how long we took to cook all this?"
"Yeah, it must've taken a while," Zander said, a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
All the other chefs slammed down their hats in frustration and stormed out of the diner.
“Well, if you don’t pay, I’m telling the guards,” Fenn warned.
“Hey man, chill. I will pay. Just give me a day,” Zander replied, trying to remain calm.
“A day!?” Fenn exclaimed incredulously.
“Well, do you want your money or not?” Zander countered.
“Fine!” Fenn relented, crossing his arms.
“Just remember, you have a day,” Fenn called after him.
As Zander stepped outside, the bustling sounds of the kingdom filled his ears, but his mind was focused on one thing: how was he going to come up with that much money? Suddenly, a faint sound of distress pierced the air. Zander turned and followed the noise, his curiosity leading him to a startling sight—a massive white tiger hanging upside down from a tall pole.
Blood dripped from its mouth, standing out against its white fur. The tiger's bright red eyes stared at Zander. The tiger was out in the open, suspended precariously over a heavily fortified wall. Guarded by ten soldiers clad in heavy armor adorned with crimson accents, each wielding a formidable polearm. Zander approached, only to be blocked by both soldiers.
"Halt, citizen! You cannot pass this wall," the soldier commanded.
"Why not? There's a huge gate right there," Zander replied.
"This gate is reserved only for soldiers or the Lord of the Crimson Fleet," the other soldier added.
"Crimson Fleet? What's that?" Zander asked.
"He must be an outsider. The Crimson Fleet oversees the world, ensuring everything stays in order. And beyond this wall is where the criminals are sent," the soldier explained.
"Wow, so you're the law around here, huh?" Zander said with a raised brow.
"Yes. Now leave," one of the soldiers commanded firmly.
Zander turned away, heading down a nearby alleyway. Once out of sight, he quickly scaled a building, now perched on the rooftop. With a swift move, he created a clone, tossing it over the wall. In an instant, he swapped places with the clone, successfully making it over the heavily Guarded wall.
There he walks toward the white tiger. The tiger opens its eyes to see a familiar face.
“ Hey there big white lion”.
