Chapter 11: Chapter 11 - Section 005: Reliance (3)
Flossie Wright's housekeeping duties were often singled out for criticism, and all the new recruits in the platoon had heard about it, some even coming over to inspect for themselves. So, when they saw the neatly made bed she had just finished arranging, they were taken aback.
The deep green quilt and bed were neatly arranged. The army blanket resting on the right center of the bed was square and distinct. No fault could be found in the exterior, not even a single wrinkle was visible. It was extremely outstanding compared to the other beds.
Indeed, there were many good blanket-folders among these new recruits, but the fact that such a perfect quilt was folded by Flossie Wright was truly shocking.
At the sight of that army blanket, the rest of them were shocked, but Jocelyn Carrington's face darkened instantly.
This, this can't be...
Jocelyn Carrington was a little flustered, not because of the hundred push-ups, but because of the feeling of danger that suddenly sprung up from the bottom of her heart. She knew very well that the source of this danger was Flossie Wright's unexpected performance.
"Good job, if you do it with heart, you can do it well!" After a moment of surprise Abram Phillips nodded in approval at Flossie Wright, not hiding his admiration.
Flossie Wright calmly accepted his praise, then turned her slightly amused gaze towards the unhappy Jocelyn Carrington.
"Hmph." Jocelyn Carrington snorted disdainfully, even in admitting defeat, she held her head up high, "One hundred push-ups, watch carefully!"
When she finished speaking, she lay down on the spot and easily began her push-up punishment.
Meanwhile, the group who had gathered at the door to see how Flossie Wright would "lose miserably", all sighed in unison. This development was indeed beyond their expectations, something no one had anticipated.
Jocelyn Carrington was doing her push-ups quickly, and within a short time, she was past halfway. Abram Phillips didn't plan to linger among the women for long either. After praising Flossie Wright a few more times and instructing her to keep up the good work, he strode away.
"Your hand-to-hand combat instructor is here. What are you standing here for? Hurry up and go see the handsome guy!"
At a time when the atmosphere was negative, Drake Easton's leisurely voice drifted over, successfully stirring the group of female soldiers crowded outside the doorway. In this dull and uninteresting life, any minor change could stir up their enthusiasm. Therefore, under the attraction of a "handsome guy", in a few seconds, the crowd outside the door dispersed. Even the women from the second squad, who were eager to join in, greeted Drake Easton and quickly followed the crowd.
"So you've learned how to fold the blanket?" Drake Easton, who had already heard about what happened, turned his attention to Flossie Wright after most people left. As he walked in and scrutinized the perfectly square, tofu-like blanket, the pressure in the room gradually escalated.
Flossie Wright stood to one side, touched her nose, but didn't respond, her gaze firmly locked on him.
The time seemed to slow down all of a sudden. Janice Wood, who had already let out a sigh of relief, looked puzzledly at Drake Easton. It was strange to her; Flossie's blanket was folded so well. Could the perceptive Sergeant Drake really find fault in a perfect job?
However, before she could figure it out, she saw Drake Easton, looking serious, directly grab a corner of the blanket and lifted it into the air...
At the same time, just as Jocelyn Carrington had finished her push-ups and stood up, her face was as gloomy as if she had eaten a fly. The thousands of words in her heart were distilled into a single word—
Damn!
