Chapter 1155: Song Family's Relatives
Probably thinking there was no escape route left, the woman quieted down after entering the door.
She glanced around the small and not very affluent-looking courtyard, pursing her lips, but there was an anxious glint in her eyes.
What if Song Xin's son doesn't have much money either and refuses to take care of this child?
No matter what, she definitely wouldn't take the child back.
Shu Yu walked into the living room and saw Meng Yunzheng and the others there. Seeing them and the child in Shu Yu's arms, they were all puzzled.
"What's going on? Who is this?" Meng Pei asked.
Shu Yu put the child down and motioned to the woman with her lips, "I don't know either, ask her."
The woman glanced over the people in the room. Not bad, though they didn't look like wealthy people, they were certainly better off than her family, so taking care of a child shouldn't be a problem.
Thinking of this, the woman felt slightly at ease and raised her head to ask, "Who among you is Song Xin's son?"
Upon hearing the name Song Xin, Meng Pei and Meng Yunzheng both frowned.
A moment later, Meng Yunzheng stepped forward, "I am."
The woman looked him over, "Indeed, you do resemble your mother a bit."
"You knew my mother?" Meng Yunzheng was somewhat surprised.
The woman nodded, "We've met twice. Your mother has such striking features that even a brief glance would leave a lasting impression."
Shu Yu, noticing her words seemed quite forthcoming and without malice, smiled and invited, "Since Aunt knows Aunt Song, just say so directly. Why run outside? Aunt, sit down for a while, and we'll talk about whatever you need to discuss slowly."
She asked Ying Xi to help pour some tea.
To be honest, the woman was indeed very tired from her journey, and she gulped down a cup of water in one go.
Shu Yu, with her sharp eyes, noticed that the woman's hands were still slightly trembling.
Apparently, she looked calm outwardly, but was actually very nervous inside.
She didn't say much, simply pouring another cup of warm water and squatting down to feed the child to drink.
The child in front was still bewildered, but as Shu Yu fed him water, he obediently opened his mouth. After drinking half a cup, he shook his head.
After both had drunk, Meng Yunzheng asked, "May I know how to address you, Aunt? And how do you know my mother?"
The woman put down the cup and hesitated before speaking, "My husband's surname is Hong, just call me Aunt Hong. As for how I know your mother..." She paused, her voice lowering, "Our Hong family is actually related to the Song family by marriage. My husband is your aunt's brother."
Meng Yunzheng was taken aback.
He knew about the members of the Song family.
Mother Song had two sons and a daughter: First Song, Song Xin, and Song Qing, who was only a year younger than Song Xin.
The Song parents were not kind to Song Xin. Seeing her beauty, they always planned to have her marry a wealthy man in the future. Because of this, they took it upon themselves to give her to Gong Qiu as an outside partner.
First Song was four years older than Song Xin. Since young, the Song parents instilled in him that his sister was meant to marry rich and support him. Thus, subconsciously, First Song always regarded Song Xin as his future money bag.
As a result, when he reached marriageable age and someone introduced girls to him, he always found them unsuitable.
He wanted to wait for Song Xin to grow up and marry rich, so that his own status could rise, allowing him to marry a girl from a good family.
So when Song Xin became Gong Qiu's outside partner, First Song was still unmarried.
