The Last Threshold
Kaito’s journey eventually led him to the Tower of Eternity, an ancient structure said to contain the source of all magic in the world. Many believed it to be a myth, but Kaito knew it was real. The forbidden text had described it in detail—those who ascended the tower would gain access to powers beyond even the gods.
He approached the tower with a calm certainty. Each step felt heavy, not with fear, but with anticipation. He knew this was his final test. If he could conquer the tower, he would have everything.
The lower levels were filled with traps and ancient guardians, but Kaito dispatched them effortlessly. His strength had grown to the point where no physical or magical force could stop him. The higher he climbed, the stronger the whispers in his mind became. They urged him on, promised him that at the top of the tower, he would find the ultimate truth: that he was destined to rule over all.
Finally, he reached the summit. At the peak of the tower stood a single figure—a shadowy being whose very presence radiated overwhelming power.
“You have come far, Kaito,” the figure said. Its voice echoed, not just in the air, but in Kaito’s soul. “But you must now choose. Will you continue down this path, or will you turn back and reclaim what remains of your humanity?”
Kaito’s response was immediate. “I don’t need humanity. I need power.”
The figure nodded, almost in pity. “So be it.”
The final battle began, but it was not a clash of blades or spells. It was a war within Kaito’s mind, his soul, as he fought to consume the very essence of the tower itself. Darkness enveloped him, but he welcomed it. He embraced the chaos, the power, until there was nothing left but Kaito—and the infinite strength he had always craved.
As the world outside continued unaware, a new ruler ascended the Tower of Eternity. A ruler with no equal.
Kaito had become the strongest being in existence.
But at what cost?
