Chapter 26: Chapter No.26 Fenrir (1/3)

[Third Person's POV]

[Golden City, Realm of Asgard]

In the capital city of Asgard——the atmosphere was filled with an air of majesty and divine power. The towering structures of gold and marble stood proudly against the sky, shimmering in the light that seemed to come from the very heavens. Asgard was a place of gods and warriors, where honour and valour were valued above all, or so they say.

Inside the grand hall of Valaskjalf, the seat of Odin, the All-Father, Odin was sitting on his throne in the now-empty hall with vacant eyes. Two pitch-black ravens preaching on either side of the throne head, their eyes glinting with a sharp intelligence that seemed to pierce through reality itself. Huginn and Muninn, the ravens of thought and memory, flanked Odin as they silently observed the world beyond the veil of Asgard.

CAAAW! CAAAW!

With a piercing caw, the ravens fluttered their wings, their beady eyes narrowing as they exchanged glances with each other before they turned into a black smoke-like substance that flew and merged with the rune-like tattoos on each wrist of Odin. The All-Father's vacant eyes slowly focused, and a subtle gleam of surprise gave way to disbelief and absolute denial.

"H-How could it...escape!"

BOOOM!

The huge doors of the hall opened with a loud boom, echoing through the grand chamber as a figure stepped inside. Clad in ornate golden armour that shimmered like sunlight, Thor, the God of Thunder, strode forward with worry written on his face. His long, flowing hair caught the light, making him look every bit the warrior that he was.

"All-Father, there is grave news from the realm of Helheim," Thor announced, his voice booming yet laced with an underlying urgency. He stepped closer to the throne, concern etched across his rugged features.

He continued, "The dead are rising, as if something has shifted and the chained Garmr who slept all the time is getting restless destroying everything in its path. It has become chaotic—something is stirring in the depths."

Sigh!

"Son..." Odin sighed heavily as concern etched deep lines on his face, a rare show of vulnerability. He leaned forward on his throne, his one eye fixed on Thor with unwavering intensity.

"All-Father, You know something... right?" Thor's voice echoed through the grand hall, a mixture of urgency and concern etched on his face as he awaited Odin's response. The weight of the news from Helheim, the realm of the dead, hung heavy in the air, stirring a sense of foreboding even within the mighty walls of Asgard.

Odin, the All-Father, sat upon his throne with an air of solemnity, his single eye focused intently on Thor. The ravens, Huginn and Muninn, had merged into his wrist tattoos, and their recent memories played in his mind again and again.

"The end...My son, The end is...near!"

Thor felt a chill run down his spine at his father's words. He had fought many battles and faced countless foes, but the notion of an impending end struck a different chord within him.

"What do you mean, Father?" he pressed, his voice urgent. "Is this the work of Loki again? Or have the giants finally found a way to breach our defences?"

Odin shook his head slowly, the weight of prophecy evident in his demeanour. "No, this is something far worse. The balance of the realms has shifted. I sensed it even before you arrived. The 'chains' that bind Garmr were not to keep him restrained but to guard the one sealed inside those chains—the one who threatens to upend the very foundations of our existence."

"F-Father you mean..." Thor interrupted, his voice faltering in disbelief. "You mean to say that there is something—or someone—more dangerous than Garmr himself?"

Odin nodded gravely, his expression troubled yet resolute. "Yes, my son. The entity imprisoned within those chains is none other than Fenrir, the great Wolf of Ragnarök."

"Dear!"

"Odin!"

Two feminine voices echoed through the grand hall, drawing both Odin's and Thor's attention. Frigg, the queen of the Aesir and Odin's beloved wife, stepped forward, her expression a mixture of worry and determination. Beside her was Freyja, The leader of Valkyries and Goddess of Vanir.

Freyja, with her golden hair cascading like rays of sunlight, radiated both beauty and power. Her fierce gaze reflected the weight of the news, and as she stepped forward, the tension in the room intensified.

"What is this calamity that has befallen us, Odin?" she demanded, her voice steady but laced with an undercurrent of urgency.

"Yes, dear. I sensed disturbance in Helheim through me magic," Frigg came by Odin's side took his hand, her touch grounding him in the midst of uncertainty. "We must know the truth of what threatens us."

Odin took a deep breath, his brow furrowing as he considered the enormity of the situation. "Fenrir...he escaped, somehow."

"But how, the chains in which he was sealed I—myself enchanented it with the most power runes and ancient magic with Ymir's body part to bind him. It was said that nothing could break those chains!" Frigg exclaimed, her voice trembling with disbelief.

"That is what worrying me, The chains are not broken or have any damage, they are simply...empty. As if it never contained Fenrir in the first place." Odin sighed again as he slowly collapsed on the throne.

The weight of Odin's words hung heavy in the air, the realization settling like a shroud over the grand hall of Valaskjalf. Frigg stepped back, her hand clutching her chest as though she could physically grasp the shock that washed over her. Freyja's gaze sharpened, reflecting a fierce determination beneath the surface of her concern.

"What do you mean 'empty'?" Thor's voice rose, filled with a mix of urgency and disbelief. "If Fenrir has truly escaped, we must act swiftly. We cannot allow him to roam free among the realms."

"Heimdall!" Thor shouted as he rushed toward the grand doors, his voice echoing off the walls. The urgency in his tone compelled the guards stationed at the entrance to move swiftly. "Summon Heimdall! We need to know if Fenrir is already among us!"

Frigg's brow furrowed deeper as she exchanged glances with Freyja, who nodded, her expression resolute. The impending threat of Fenrir loomed larger than they had ever anticipated, and the weight of the gods' decisions pressed heavily upon them.

Moments later, A handsomema walked in, his skin gleaming white and shining. His teeth were made of solid gold. But to those who were present, the horrifying thing was his eyes which were bleeding continuously.

"H-Heimdall, what h-happened to y-you?!"

The hall fell silent, every pair of divine eyes fixated on Heimdall as he staggered into Valaskjalf, blood pouring from his eyes like crimson tears. The once-proud Guardian of the Bifrost, known for his vigilance and unyielding strength, now appeared fragile and wounded.

"By the Norns…" Thor breathed, his heart pounding with a mix of dread and concern. He rushed to Heimdall's side, catching the god before he could collapse.

"Speak, Heimdall!" Odin urged, his voice commanding yet tinged with an undercurrent of worry. "What has happened?"

Heimdall struggled to maintain his composure, each word a struggle as he gasped for breath. "I… I tried to look for Fenrir, When I sensed the disturbance...I looked everywhere in our pantheon, but couldn't find even a trace of him. So...I went beyond our pantheon, First I tried to look for Fenrir in those olympians's pantheon but after a seconds of search I was casted out..."

"You did WHAT?!" Thor's voice thundered through the hall, disbelief mingling with anger. "You ventured into the realm of the Olympians? You know how precarious that is, Heimdall! We have no allegiance with them!"

Heimdall winced but met Thor's fierce gaze, his own pain evident. "I had no choice! The disturbance was unlike anything I've ever felt. I couldn't wait for Fenrir to come at us unprepared, but I was expelled—cast away like a mere mortal!"

"By Odin's beard!" Thor exclaimed, his fists clenching in frustration. "You should have known better!"

"Enough!" Odin's voice echoed powerfully, cutting through the tension. His one eye glimmered with a mix of authority and sorrow as he addressed both his son and Heimdall. "We must focus on the present threat, not the past mistakes. Tell us everything, Heimdall. What did you sense? What did you find?"

Heimdall took a shaky breath, his golden teeth glimmering even amidst the crimson tears. "In those fleeting moments before I was cast out, I tried to sense Fenrir's breath but It was not found in the Olympians's realm too. So I tried to look for it in..."

"You tried to breach the realm of 'those' trinity?!" Odin exclaim as he finished Heimdall's thought. His expression turned grim, the very mention of the trinity evoking a deep-seated apprehension among the gathered gods.

"Yes," Heimdall replied, his voice strained but resolute. "I sought to find him anywhere possible, for if Fenrir is free, we must know where he could strike next. But as I neared their boundary, A verticle eye opened and just looked at me once and... and this is what happened." Gesturing toward his bleeding eyes, he kneeled in front of Odin, his body trembling with exhaustion.

Frigg stepped closer, her voice softening as she reached out to Heimdall. "You put yourself in great danger for the sake of Asgard. But tell us, did you glean any knowledge of where Fenrir might be hiding?"

Heimdall shook his head slowly, the pain still evident in his expression. "But my guess is...he is there, in their realm. I don't know how he got inside, but that is the only place I couldn't penetrate, not without losing my sight, and perhaps my very essence."

The hall fell into a tense silence, the weight of Heimdall's revelation pressing down on every deity present. Thor clenched his jaw, frustration boiling within him, while Freyja's gaze shifted between the assembled gods, searching for an answer.

"Olympians are out question, Zeus can't contain Fenrir, which leaves Hindu Pantheon." Odin said as he softly ran his hand in his beard and leaned back against his throne, lost in thought. "If Fenrir has found a way into the Hindu Pantheon, we must act quickly. We cannot allow him to gain any strength or allies there."

Thor's brows knitted together, the weight of their predicament heavy on his shoulders. "Then we should send a delegation to warn the Hindu gods of the danger they face. We must ally ourselves with them against Fenrir, before it's too late!"

Freyja nodded, her fierce gaze unwavering. "Agreed. The Hindu Pantheon is vast and powerful. If Fenrir manages to sway them, the consequences could be catastrophic for all realms. We must tread carefully, though; their gods may not take kindly to our intrusion."

Frigg spoke up, her voice steady yet filled with concern. "We should send our most diplomatic and wise. Someone who can navigate their intricacies without igniting further conflict. I suggest sending you, Freyja, along with Mimir to serve as your counsel and wisdom in these matters."

"Me?" Freyja asked, surprised but intrigued. "You think I would be the best choice to negotiate with the Hindu gods?"

Odin nodded, his one eye glimmering with approval. "Your insight and strength make you well-suited for this task. You understand the nuances of diplomacy and can handle the intricacies of their pantheon. Mimir will provide his vast knowledge, and together, you can forge a path to ensure our realms remain safe."

Thor stepped forward, a mixture of pride and concern in his voice. "But what of the danger? If Fenrir is indeed in the Hindu Pantheon, then he could strike while we are distracted."

"We will not leave Asgard vulnerable," Odin assured his son. "We will bolster our defenses. I will call upon the Valkyries to be vigilant and prepare for any sign of Fenrir's influence creeping into our realm. We must act decisively."

Freyja nodded, her determination ignited. "Then I shall go. I have look for Mimir and to fill in the details of our situation, then I will set out for the Hindu Pantheon at once. Time is of the essence, and we cannot afford to let Fenrir gain any more ground."

With a final glance toward Odin and Thor, Freyja turned on her heel, striding confidently from the grand hall. The weight of her task settled upon her shoulders, but she felt a surge of determination. The safety of the realms depended on her actions, and she would not fail.

"Before you go," Odin called after her, his voice echoing through the marble hall. "Trust in the wisdom of Mimir. His knowledge of the pantheons will guide you. And remember, the bonds of alliance are as important as the steel of our swords."

Freyja nodded, the gravity of the situation crystal clear in her mind. As she exited the hall, Thor turned to Odin, a frown creasing his brow.

"Father, are you sure about this? Sending Freyja alone with Mimir? If Fenrir has truly infiltrated the Hindu Pantheon, who knows what traps await them?"

Odin regarded Thor with a grave expression, his mind racing with possibilities. "It is a risk we must take, my son. If we delay, the consequences could be far worse. We must keep our forces strong here in Asgard, Loki might try to take advantage of our preoccupation with Fenrir. We can't allow ourselves to become distracted."

"Very well."
