Terra Nova Online : Rise Of The Strongest Player

Chapter 771: The new regent

(ChaosBringer's POV)

ChaosBringer's eyes shimmered with tears of joy as he watched Leo ascend to the throne.

For most, this moment was a defining victory for the Uprising, but for ChaosBringer, it was the culmination of a grueling journey filled with relentless toil and sacrifice.

No one else truly understood the blood, sweat, and tears it had taken ChaosBringer to place a man on the throne, for only he carried the full weight of what he had endured in silence.

The first six months of the Uprising had been the darkest. Membership was sparse, and with no funds to offer salaries or incentives, keeping the group afloat had felt like an impossible dream.

But everything changed during the Grand Tournament. ChaosBringer had bet everything—every coin, every ounce of hope—on 'TheBoss' winning, and his bet paid off big time.

He won every bet he placed, yielding a fortune beyond expectation, and that became the turning point in the Uprising's history.

The influx of money breathed new life into the struggling rebellion, allowing it to expand and solidify its presence.

The next pivotal milestone was the capture of their first viscounty, an achievement that finally put them on the map, garnering interest from 'TheBoss', who joined their ranks officially.

As from then on, the Uprising's growth was meteoric.

With 'TheBoss' spearheading campaigns, the ragtag group of rebels transformed into a formidable force.

What had started as a desperate movement became the empire's most feared rebellion—a juggernaut capable of toppling the throne itself, and today that dream had been realized, with 'TheBoss' finally assuming the throne.

ChaosBringer's pride swelled as he stood in the throne room, knowing every step of the arduous journey had led to this moment of triumph, as although the history books would probably not remember his role in this campaign, he knew without a shadow of a doubt, that he was the kingmaker behind TheBoss's reign.

"ChaosBringer, come here—" Leo said, calling him to the throne, as for a moment, ChaosBringer felt utterly confused by the summon.

Leo had only assumed the throne a mere few moments ago and ChaosBringer expected him to do something grand, or hold a big speech, but he did not.

Instead, he gestured for ChaosBringer to approach the throne, which made ChaosBringer's heart nervously skip a beat.

*Gulp*

Gulping, he nervously walked towards the throne, standing one step beneath the level where the throne was, as he bowed his head in respect.

"How may I serve you? My Lord?" ChaosBringer asked, as Leo simply gestured towards the seat of the prime minister in the room.

"I'm appointing you as my regent, you will have complete authority over the Empire and shall answer to no-one but me.

I'm an assassin not a ruler and I don't know the first thing about running an Empire, nor do I have any interest in running it.

Becoming the Emperor was a personal project, but now that I've achieved it, I don't really care for it" Leo muttered, as with a flick of his finger, he appointed ChaosBringer as his regent, transferring him countless powers to rule the Empire.

ChaosBringer stood frozen, his eyes wide as the faint hum of magic filled the air.

Before him, a glowing screen materialized—its shimmering interface displaying the Empire's vast resources, military divisions, economic controls, and countless other tools of governance.

The very same panel that Leo had access to now rested in ChaosBringer's hands, a symbol of his newfound authority as regent.

For a moment, he couldn't move. The weight of what had just been bestowed upon him pressed down like an iron mantle.

The rights to control the Empire—the military, the treasury, the laws—were his to exercise. With a flick of his fingers, he could raise armies, alter tax laws, or issue decrees that would ripple across the land.

He swallowed hard, his gaze flicking between the glowing screen and Leo's calm, almost dismissive expression.

ChaosBringer's voice trembled as he spoke, his usual dramatic flair taking on an almost reverent tone. "M-My Lord… This... this is too much. You trust me with this? With everything?"

Leo waved a hand dismissively. "You've earned it, ChaosBringer. More than anyone else. Besides, you're the only one I trust to do this right. I'm not cut out for ruling; you are."

The simplicity of Leo's statement struck ChaosBringer harder than any battlefield blow ever had. His knees buckled, and before he could stop himself, he dropped to the floor, his forehead touching the cold marble in a deep bow.

"My Lord, my Emperor… I am unworthy of such trust, but I swear upon my very soul, I will not fail you," ChaosBringer declared, his voice thick with emotion. "From this day forth, your will is my law, your vision my purpose. I will carry your Empire to heights never before seen, or I will die trying."

Tears streamed freely down his face as he looked up at Leo, his expression a mixture of awe and fierce determination. "You have given me a new purpose in life, my Lord. I will never betray your faith, no matter what trials come. I swear it."

Leo's lips twitched into a faint smirk. "Good. Now get off the floor. Show some spine as my regent, your weakness sullies my name."

ChaosBringer stood, his hands trembling slightly as he reached out to the glowing screen before him.

The interface responded to his touch, the options and controls dancing beneath his fingers like a living thing. As he began to familiarize himself with its features, his confidence swelled, mingling with the unwavering loyalty that now burned brighter than ever in his chest.

"This Empire," ChaosBringer muttered, his voice steadying, "will be the greatest the world of Terra Nova has ever seen. I will make sure of it."

"Good. Because I've got other, more important things to do." Leo declared as he stood up, and without another word strode out of the throne room, leaving ChaosBringer alone with the tools of power.

It was a responsibility ChaosBringer had not imagined in a million years.

He never expected to be appointed regent, but because Leo did appoint him, his loyalty towards Leo skyrocketed and became unshakeable.

'Come what may… I will never betray your trust' ChaosBringer thought, as he made a resolve to never betray Leo, even if it cost him his life.
