Chapter 122.2
Technomancer in MCU
Hela smirked at seeing the army finally being pushed back and set her sights back on the woman who had bested her not once but twice. She had had enough of feeling her bones being shredded. She was about to step back into the fight when her neck snapped back to the palace. She had already felt something was wrong but in the heat of the battle, she had not realised what.
The Ritual Room.
It was being used for something. Something that involved two or more Infinity Stones. If they actually had Infinity Stones with them, they should have used it on her. Even she would have been hard-pressed to win against someone using multiple Stones against her and yet, there was no sign of anyone using them against her. It only meant that something else was afoot.
Her eyes grew wide in comprehension as she realised what the army was for. They were only here to delay her. To keep her away from the palace. To stop her from interfering.
She snarled as rage once again overtook her, targeting the palace directly. Her doubts were confirmed when the entirety of the heavy hitters of the army in front of her dived in front of the spikes and destroyed them with all their might.
So, that was their plan, Hela thought. Some sort of ritual to actually sever her connection or something else? Nevertheless, Hela could not allow that to continue as she continued to push towards the palace.
She was about to summon more Fire Giant Demons when something unexpected happened. The raging Thunder that was tightly wound up from the beginning unexpectedly began to rouse from its slumber.
“Now, Thor!” Somebody shouted before Mjolnir was raised in the sky, bathing her entire vision with white as the lightning of unprecedented quantity fell directly on top of Mjolnir. From the corner of her vision, she could see someone standing right on top of one of those ships and supplying Thor with the bulk of the lightning she was seeing. Soon, her vision went back to normal as the lightning in the atmosphere was absorbed by Mjolnir. The wielder of her previous weapon raised his head and all she saw was two glowing bowls of liquid lightning before she was forced to double over in pain as the person had appeared in front of her without her even noticing it.
She swiped at him but he just disappeared before her arm could reach him. Instead, she found herself being slammed back into the Observatory for the last time as the figure, Thor, her half-brother from the looks of it, turned his sights to Fenrir and blasted him towards Hulk who began fighting with Fenrir once again. Fenrir was losing because he was trying to get back to his Master but the now recovered Hulk would not let him a moment of reprieve. In the meantime, Hela was riddled with Thor’s blows as he continued to hammer his elder sister, backed by the power of lightning. Mjolnir continued to take a back seat in this fight as Thor wanted to vent all his rage and anger on Hela through his fists.
Hela continued to fall deeper into the metal shieldings of the Observatory as Thor continued to punch her, each of his blows leaving a bolt of serrating lightning that scattered across the Observatory, creating a shockwave. His other weapon, a long axe, was stuck to his back as it continued to overcharge Thor with lightning, allowing him to exert power far beyond his ken, to the point that he overpowered Hela with ease.
And yet, slowly, Thor’s blows slowed down as Hela’s face refused to budge from Thor’s punches anymore. Thor slowly backed away, his body finally facing the exhaustion from the energy overload as Hela’s entire body conjured swords and spikes. Mjolnir vibrated on its spot yet Thor did not call it. Hela’s face had been healed from all of its damage as she looked down at her brother with a smirk on her face.
“Tired, brother? Let me put you to rest, eternally,” Hela declared with an evil smirk and brought down her sword on Thor’s neck, his form unmoving until the last moment as his hand shot out and caught the blade. His hand, imbued with the power of lightning, crushed the blade as he stood up.
“Tired? Don’t Joke, sister,” Thor huffed in between his words and yet, Hela backed away as her sense of danger continued to ring in her mind, warning her of the danger her brother posed to her. Before she could get a word in, the long axe on her brother’s back shot itself straight to Mjolnir. It modeled itself into Mjolnir’s shape and then flew back into Thor’s outstretched hands. Thor then raised Mjolnir high up in the sky, right underneath somebody who had arrived above them unnoticed, Hela saw. That person then aimed his hand at Mjolnir and then, a wave of energy passed from that person straight into Mjolnir, lighting up her vision once again, and yet, that was not the source of her worries, Hela realised. If Thor was just going to get another way to recharge his energy, she would not have been worried because she had grown stronger in their fight and no longer needed to worry about him. She could feel it, she was more than two-thirds of the way to her peak powers. She sent multiple spikes imbued with her powers to Thor but the pure lightning surrounding her burned those away before they could come close to him. The same happened to the person who was standing above them. She was seemingly trapped in between and yet, when she was about to invoke her most dangerous spell, the energy transfer stopped.
Her body went rigid as sweat gathered on her forehead. The energy that Mjolnir was emitting was not unlike that of Gungnir when Odin struck someone from far away using one of his infamous Odin Force strikes.
Thor then simply aimed Mjolnir at her and said, “Release,” lighting up her world with unimaginable pain as her body was burnt to a crisp by the lightning. It burned through all of her defenses and ravaged her body, destroying her internal organs and even managing to damage her soul for a bit. The last thing in her awareness was the pain before she blacked out.
“Did you do it?” Loki asked a kneeling Thor who continued to hold onto the form of a smoking Mjolnir, the outer covering holding it having long since melted away. The sheer amount of energy that Thor had poured into that attack had left Loki, who was a mile away, fearing for his life. He could not imagine anybody aside from the All-Father himself surviving a blow like that, especially since Hela was hit by it point blank. He looked up to the man who made it all possible. Without that person absorbing all of the stray lightning that would have otherwise hit Asgard and then transferring it to that long axe that contained it all within itself and then transferring that energy to Thor directly, he would have never been fast or strong enough to beat Hela the way he did. Even now, as he looked at the hole in the bridge, he got chills. The water below the bridge had been vaporised, leaving a hole that was slowly being filled with water.
“I don’t know. I hit her point blank and yet, I don’t think it’s over yet,” Thor said as he struggled to stand on his feet, eventually requiring the help of Mjolnir to do so, which was still smoking due to the sheer heat of the lightning attack. The person above had also collapsed but their suit had taken them back to safety on those ships. He was about to cast a detection spell before the suit that was given to him latched on to Thor’s tired form and blasted them away from the bridge. It all happened so fast that he had no chance of reacting. Within a second, they had crashed into the wall they had built around the Palace as they passed through dozens of walls because of the sheer momentum the suit had created.
“What in Odin’s name was that?” He muttered as he came out of the dust cloud that had been created by their impact. The suit, seemingly on its own, once again took them back to the skies where Loki saw something that raised his hackles. The place that he and Thor were standing on had been shredded beyond recognition. Hundreds of swords and other assortment of weapons littered the ground as a dark green cloud of ominous energy began gathering on top of the Observatory.
“Fire everything you have. We have a code red,” They all heard Frank shout into the comms as the green cloud shot something straight down, revealing a healed Hela in all of her glory, now sporting a complete crown on top of her head, signalling the competition of her bond with Asgard. As soon as Frank gave the command, the ships floating in the skies above Asgard began emitting a low pitch-whining noise as all of the soldiers fighting below began disappearing in a blue glow one by one until the only ones left on the battlefield were the heavy hitters of the allied army and Hela and her minions. Hulk too, had been transported somewhere else in the middle of his fight.
Hela’s eyes narrowed as she looked at the ships in the sky. She had to admit that the army in front of her was strong. Very strong. She would have been honored to be the general of such an army back in the day and yet, today, they stood against her and so, they would have to die. She could just reanimate them back if she so wished, even though their strength would not return, no matter how powerful she became with her magic. She had no more reason to play around with them. She had to investigate that Infinity Stone matter as well. So, she breathed out lightly as a spike that was larger than all of her previous attacks combined, emerged out of the water and headed straight towards one of the ships.
The people who had given her a hard time previously attacked that spike and yet, to her immense satisfaction, failed to dent it at all. The spike went through unhindered right up until it was about to hit the ship.
That was when it failed as a translucent barrier was revealed to be protecting the ship. The spike’s energy corroded the barrier only for it to heal itself.
“Annoying,” Hela muttered as she waved her arm, revealing a dozen more spikes that reached the shields at the same time, causing said shields to flicker. Her gaze went to the skies but to her confusion, she could not find anyone there. Even the foot soldiers had disappeared as had their commanders. It didn’t seem that they had fled because the Rainbow Bridge could not be activated anymore and she, as the rightful Ruler of Asgard, had not felt anything leaving Asgard using the Bi-Frost so the question remained. What were they doing?
Her musings were cut short as something happened with the ships above. A large orb of glowing white energy gathered in front of the barrier, disintegrating her spikes even as the orb continued to grow larger.
No, she refused to be beaten again, Hela vowed to herself as she poured more and more of Asgard’s energy into a shield as well as a spear that began manifesting in front of her. Different from her usual conjurations, this one was not green or black in colour. Instead, it was a golden manifestation that Hela hated with all her being yet it was a shield and spear that Asgard granted to its ruler when they were on Asgard itself. Literally, the manifestation of the planet is in her hands.
“Argh!” She snarled as she threw the sphere straight at the ball of energy that had now ballooned to massive proportions and then held the shield in front of her, which then morphed to become a circular covering that surrounded her form completely.
At the same time as Hela threw that spear, the ships released that ball of energy straight into the Spear’s path, creating a massive explosion that blew away the ships, the Observatory, and even most of the city, right up until the Royal Palace where the shields activated on their own and stopped the shockwave from spreading further.
