Chapter 23 Minotaur King
Next day morning.
“Brother Leo, when did I fall asleep yesterday?”
After waking up, Leo and Julia started walking in the direction of their next mission. Along the way, Julia asked Leo about her sudden sleep.
“You said you are too tired from walking all day and fell asleep.”
Leo replied in a calm tone while checking his surroundings.
“But…”
“Shh”
Before Julia could say something, Leo asked her to remain silent.
‘Huh?’
Even though Julia was confused by Leo’s sudden actions, she stopped talking and looked in the direction Leo was looking at.
‘Moo’
What appeared in her sight were three humanoid beings with the heads of a bull with a muscular body and carrying giant axes on their backs.
‘Minotaurs?’
Julia read about them as they tried to invade the Phirie city once with other monsters; however, they could not break the defence of their city.-.
Later, the city leader killed their leader, which scared the remaining monsters away with tails between their legs.
‘Yes. They are known for their brute force. With a single swing of their axes, they can even destroy huge boulders, not to mention trees.’
Leo shared the common knowledge about the minotaurs as he continued, ‘Looks like we are in luck today.’
‘Luck?’
Julia didn’t understand why they were lucky because even if they killed the three minotaurs in front of them and sold them in the city, they would not even get 50 Hero coins.
Because the only valuable things they could sell after killing a minotaur were its horns and battle-axes, even those things were not very valuable.
‘There is a mission where a human with forging talent requires the horns. Don’t you remember?’
Leo lightly smacked Julia’s head as he reminded her about the mission.
‘Of course, I remember.’
Julia rubbed her head as she nodded her head and said, ‘However, we didn’t pick the mission paper. So, we can’t complete that mission.’
‘Who said we can’t complete?’
Leo revealed a slight smile on his usual cold face as he eyed the three rank 5 minotaurs in the distance.
‘Don’t tell me you are planning to sell the horns directly to the person who requested it.’
How could Julia not understand what Leo was thinking as she revealed a slight smile on her face signifying that she was with him on whatever he was planning?
‘However, we need the horns of a rank 6 minotaur king and not these minions.’
Julia checked her surroundings to see whether there were more minotaurs nearby.
‘To find the minotaur king, all you need to do is….’
‘Swoosh’
Before he could finish his words, Leo disappeared from his place by using ‘Teleportation’ and directly appeared in front of the three minotaurs.
“….Kill them.”
Unlike before, this time, Leo spoke in a loud voice as he killed two rank 4 minotaurs in a single slash.
‘Thud’
‘Thud’
The two minotaurs only saw a human appear in front of them out of nowhere before falling to eternal sleep.
‘Moo’
As for the last rank 4 minotaur, it became anxious with the death of its comrades and released a loud cry.
“Good. I lost your uselessness now.”
‘Slash’
After saying those words, Leo killed the last rank 4 minotaur with a slight smile on his face.
“Brother Leo, you should have interrogated the last minotaur instead of killing it?”
After seeing Leo kill the three rank 4 minotaurs, Julia walked out of her hiding place and shook her head in pity while looking at the corpses on the ground.
“Don’t worry. There will be more minotaurs coming this way in a few seconds.”
Leo pointed in a particular direction with a slight smile on his face.
‘Huh?’
However, Julia can’t see anything other than trees and bushes in that direction.
‘Thud…thud….thud.’
As soon as she finished her words, Julia heard the stomping sounds, and at the same time, she felt the ground below her shake a little.
“Looks like more minotaurs are coming here than I thought.”
Leo said to Julia with a calm look before asking her, “Why don’t you stand back a little while I take care of them.”
“But brother, are you sure you can take care of the entire horde of minotaurs?”
Julia was a little worried because they could shake the ground from afar just from their stampede. So, she asked Leo with a concerned look on her face.
“Don’t worry. Like I said before, if I can’t defeat them, I will bring us out of here.”
Leo assured Julia as he took a few steps forwards and looked at the incoming minotaur horde.
In the horde, there seemed to be nearly 100 minotaurs who had the strength of rank 4 and rank 5; however, because of their stampede, Leo could not see them properly.
‘System, can you see whether this horde has a rank 6 minotaur king?’
So, he asked the system whether it could sense the rank 6 minotaur king because he needed its horns.
‘Ding,
Detected the energy fluctuations of a peak rank 6 minotaur king in the horde.
‘Good. It looks like I can complete this side mission sooner than I thought.’
Once he got the confirmation from the system, Leo revealed a satisfied look on his face.
‘Thud…thud….thud.’
‘Earth manipulation’
Leo waited until the horde was within a 500-meter radius before placing his hands on the ground and using his talent.
‘Swoosh’
A huge hole appeared on the ground in the next second, and the entire minotaur horde fell into that huge hole.
“As expected of one of the least intelligent monsters.”
Leo looked into the hole and said those words, walking over to the edge.
‘Moo….moo’
All the minotaurs released their angry battle cries; hearing those words,
“Silence”
With a single word from a minotaur, all the rank 4 and rank 5 minotaurs became silent as they continued to look at Leo with rage-filled eyes.
That minotaur was much bigger than the other minotaurs, and its horns were gold in colour, unlike the other minotaur.
From its appearance, it was apparent that this minotaur was the leader of this horde, the minotaur king.
“If you are a man, fight me in a one-on-one battle fair and squad. If you defeat me, I will become your slave, and if I win, you have to become my slave.”
After controlling his minions, the minotaur king looked at Leo as he challenged him to a duel.
