Chapter 4: Getting Something for Nothing
The first anomaly arose, a torrent swiftly turning, converging into a whirlpool.
The second anomaly burst forth, a wildfire fierce and scorching, sparing nothing in its path!
In the instant before the Sword Light arrived, two Sceneries had already transformed from illusion to reality, directly confronting the Wisdom Sword.
The whirlpool of torrents like an abyss, swallowing everything, while the raging Flames surged forward, intending to counter and dissolve the sword with the convergence of water and fire.
However, this Sword Light underwent yet another transformation, as agile as a Flood Dragon, suddenly shooting into the whirlpool, following the spiral's trajectory deep within, its sharp edge bursting forth with intensity.
"Bang!"
In just a split second, the Sword Light broke through the water vortex, meeting the advancing Flames head-on.
"Clang!"
Sword Qi crisscrossed, the Sword Light instantly splitting into dozens of strands, forming a sword net with a ferocity and intensity different from before, the wildFire being sliced into thousands of sparks, struggling against the sword's edge.
The Sword of Wisdom, its Law bearing a Primordial Spirit.
If Taibai True Monarch is known for his formidable prowess, boasting the power of One Sword Breaks All Techniques, then Manjusri Bodhisattva is famed across the world for his mystical versatility.
His sword, as if sentient, be it a sword or Sword Light, is like having its own Spiritual Wisdom, changing myriad ways, exhausting the cycle of life and death. It is said that in the Sword Dao, only Taibai True Monarch's One Sword Breaks All Techniques can surpass him, the other three standing no chance against this Wisdom Sword.
If Jiang Li were to face the essence of Manjusri Bodhisattva directly, he couldn't claim he could break the Wisdom Sword, but currently, it was merely a streak of Sword Light, and that was manageable.
After the Sword Light broke through two Sceneries, moving forward, there emerged a landscape that surpassed mighty mountains.
Series of mountain peaks rose, as real as illusory, a heavy yet formless Qi Mechanism descended, Suppressing everything.
The Sword Light of Wisdom transformed once more, becoming so minute and elusive, like a beam of light breaking the surface, piercing straight through the mountains.
With just a touch, the ray plunged into the solid mountains, as quick as lightning.
However, just at that moment, a vast and mighty force suddenly emerged, ferociously Suppressing the Sword Light. Five mountains swelled and transformed, converging together, their variously tall peaks side by side, forming a giant mountain in the shape of a palm.
On the middle peak of the mountain, there even twinkled a golden light, condensing into six large characters: Om Mani Padme Hum.
Jiang Li, having once borne Buddhist Zhen Ru's Great Brightness Mantra on his back and having comprehended the mantra to fortify his own meat acupoint. Now, drawing upon past insights and evolving, he recreated the power of the Great Grandmaster, as though the Five-Finger Mountain had returned.
While he was not as capable as Buddhist Zhen Ru, who could evolve a sent letter into a mountain Suppressing a fourth-rank, the Sword Light was no match for him either.
The golden light infiltrated the mountain body, the once unstoppable Sword Light finally came to a halt, slowing down more and more, until it was firmly solidified within the mountain.
"You possess Manjusri's great wisdom, but I too have worldly wisdom. The Wisdom Sword can exhaust the cycle of life and death, but it cannot vanquish me."
Jiang Li's hands converged, and the towering mountains began to shrink continuously, ultimately reducing the Sword Light along with them to palm-size, suspended between Jiang Li's opposing hands.
Jiang Li, having achieved Dao Fruit Perfection, wielded the Divine Skill of Outer Object Transformation as if commanding his own limb, concentrating a mountain in his heart and then condensing that very mountain within his palm.
After all was done, eight surrounding Sceneries evolved around Jiang Li. The anomaly of the vast earth cloaked his form, and with a plunge, he disappeared into the ground without leaving a trace.
Shortly after his subterranean escape, a Sword Light streaked across the sky, materializing in midair a pale golden glaze sword, identical to the one held by Manjusri's Dharma Manifestation, and then with a flash of Buddha Light, the semblance of Manjusri Bodhisattva appeared.
"My Sword Light has been suppressed and taken away..."
The semblance of the Manjusri Bodhisattva showed a shadowed face, grappling with the urge to curse in spite of his Buddhist Realm.
A prominent figure of the Jiang family, currently regarded as the rightful heir to the Jiang Family's leadership, was behaving so undignified. First disguising himself as the Joyful Arhat to steal the Human Species Bag, and now even the Sword Light was taken. He was well-versed in the philosophy of thieves who never leave empty-handed.
'Inside that Sword Light... No, he shouldn't have noticed.'
With this thought flickering through his mind, hundreds of dazzling streaks suddenly burst forth from within the Manjusri semblance, shooting across the sky like meteors, falling into the mountains and rivers. Every trace within a hundred miles appeared within his mind, leaving nothing hidden.
But...
Nothing was found!
After searching for the duration of an incense stick, the radiant streaks finally returned, and the countenance of Manjusri's semblance grew even darker.
"Hmph!"
With a cold snort, his semblance merged back into the sword, and the Sword Light vanished into the sky.
...
...
Elsewhere, Daoist Shen Hou was making courteous inquiries about the well-being of three Bodhisattvas from Buddha Country.
"Ah, it's often said that the Three Religions originally come from one family, I didn't believe it, but today, after meeting you, I see the rumors are true. That you three Fellow Daoists would offer your help truly overwhelms me with gratitude."
Shen Hou's face was full of appreciation, yet he sat firmly on the back of a tiger, his legs tightly clamped, ready to flee at any sign of trouble.
But the three Bodhisattvas from Buddha Country had already made a great vow. Should they act against Daoist Shen Hou, they would invite backlash, and though they felt vexed, they had to endure, meaning Shen Hou was worrying unnecessarily.
They couldn't touch Shen Hou without breaking their vow.
If they broke their vow, they would face backlash, occupied with their own predicaments, still unable to do anything to Shen Hou.
Whether they kept or broke the vow, the outcome was unaffected. Surely they wouldn't involve themselves in a great battle while bearing severe injuries?
The biggest pitfall of the deal between Jiang Li and the three Bodhisattvas of Buddha Country lay here. On the surface, it seemed fair to both sides, but in reality, Jiang Li had begun with the intention of taking advantage without cost. Nothing else mattered; the consequences of breaking the agreement were the most crucial.
