Chapter 28: The Awakened's Ideas, Gongsun Qi's Methods
A cloud of auspicious cloud dragged golden light, streaking across the sky like a comet, and landed on the snow mountain.
A golden fierce ape leaped out from the golden light, picked up the Jingu Bang, and was about to strike toward the Stone Pavilion, but before the staff could be wielded, a familiar intense pain transmitted from his head.
Immediately afterward, the golden light, like a tide, receded from the fierce ape's body, entering the golden hoop on his head and the iron rod in his hand. The fur, dyed by the golden light, turned pure white once more.
The fury of the fierce ape also quickly faded, and he soon regained his clarity, looking at the Stone Pavilion with a stern expression.
"What have you done to me?"
Wuzhiqi recalled his previous behavior, his pupils constricted, and his spine slightly arched like a great bow, ready to be unleashed.
Wuzhiqi was already familiar with the torment. No matter how he was a great demon, he had endured even the intense pain on his Divine Soul. However, the alteration of his consciousness, as if turning into a different person, brought Wuzhiqi an unprecedented shock and rage.
"I only wanted to help Tan Yue advance."
Inside the Stone Pavilion, Buddhist Zhen Ru, with a smile, gently extended his hand. In the palm appeared a Buddha Image sitting on a Lotus Platform, "Tan Yue took the Six-Eared Macaque as his second heart, performing a transformation of an external body form. Similarly, the Mazer used the Dao Fruit of the Six-Eared Macaque as a bridge, connecting the Dao Fruit of the Great Sage Equalling Heaven with the Benefactor, even transferring the power of the Victorious Battle Buddha."
"This method is similar to the Magic Door used by Elder Tianxuan of the Dinghu Sect who possesses third grade combat power. If Tan Yue can fully accept these Dao Fruits, he would immediately become a Buddha and achieve the third grade."
Upon hearing this, Wuzhiqi immediately sensed his own body, indeed finding that the Dao Fruit that had merged into his body had returned to the golden hoop—even the Jingu Bang in his hand felt heavier.
This phenomenon seemingly confirmed that Buddhist Zhen Ru was not deceiving.
However, since the golden hoop was on his head, it was bound to infuse power into his body again, and Wuzhiqi had already sensed his connection with the golden hoop. It felt as if it had grown into his skull, rooting into his Divine Soul, with a will actively thriving within it.
At the same time, an unknown energy flowed through the Jingu Bang, with a fierce aura roaring within it like a living creature.
Individally, he might withstand one, but if two attacked together, Wuzhiqi couldn't stop them. Not to mention, the golden hoop served as confinement, able to lock down the Divine Soul, leaving him powerless to resist.
Thinking of this, Wuzhiqi inadvertently showed a deep ferocity.
"Is this also considered help?" Wuzhiqi said fiercely.
"The ferocity of the Great Sage Equalling Heaven's Dao Fruit is indeed savage, but as long as Tan Yue diligently cultivates Buddhist Law, he can resolve the ferocity and not be affected by the Dao Fruit," said Buddhist Zhen Ru, smiling.
Wouldn't this mean that Wuzhiqi would have to voluntarily enter the Buddhist path?
Resolving the ferocity of the Dao Fruit might incidentally dissolve his own demonic nature as well.
If he didn't resolve it, when the Dao Fruit merged again, Wuzhiqi would still be influenced mentally, unless he prevented the Dao Fruit from merging.
But that was evidently impossible.
For the moment, Wuzhiqi found himself in a predicament more challenging than the torments of the Tightening Spell.
The Tightening Spell only brought him pain, but the integration of the Dao Fruit would affect his mind. Even someone as fierce as the great demon Wuzhiqi dreaded this aspect and couldn't ignore it.
"Tan Yue might want to think it over, and if he comes to an understanding, he can seek Hui Neng to study Buddhist Law."
Buddhist Zhen Ru was very accommodating, giving Wuzhiqi the choice while casually gazing into the distance.
A streak of Buddha Light followed the traces left by Wuzhiqi and arrived at this location. Once it landed, it revealed the figure with a missing arm—Guangli Bodhisattva.
After Guangli Bodhisattva arrived, his gaze directly swept past Wuzhiqi and Hui Neng and fell into the Stone Pavilion.
A gentle yet majestic Buddha Light appeared in Guangli Bodhisattva's eyes, evolving into seven ancient Buddhas. Yet in a blink, both Buddha Light and Buddha Image dissolved, leaving only a white-clothed Buddhist inside.
"Seven Buddhas' Sin Erasure······"
Guangli Bodhisattva murmured softly, then immediately bowed towards the Stone Pavilion, "I have seen the Chief."
In this era, the only person who could manifest the Buddhist images of the past seven Buddhas with his own Divine Intent and not just through gathered incense and faith, was naturally the Chief of Buddha Country—Awakener.
Awakener didn't practice the Summoning Technique, nor did he have the foundation for cultivating the Summoning Technique. The practice of the Summoning Technique required corresponding Dao Fruit Ability, which typically only divine or Buddhist Dao Fruits possessed.
However, the Dao Fruit of the Awakener was of Human Species, purely Human Species.
Yet should matters get serious, his mastery in the Summoning Technique could likely surpass all Bodhisattvas, Great Masters, and Arhats.
"Formalities are unnecessary, Buddhists cultivate equality, not hierarchy. The difference between you and me is only in the sequence of cultivation, not in the status," Buddhist Zhen Ru said gently from within the Stone Pavilion.
Guangli Bodhisattva's body trembled, yet he remained silent for a long time.
A denial of hierarchy naturally negates the currently prevalent incense faith practice in Buddha Country. Buddhist Zhen Ru's words were to clarify his stance, forcing Guangli Bodhisattva to make a choice.
It wasn't to say that Guangli Bodhisattva should completely abandon incense faith, but rather to prioritize. Undoubtedly, incense was secondary in the eyes of Buddhist Zhen Ru.
Long pondering, Guangli Bodhisattva hesitated indecisively while Buddhist Zhen Ru did not rush him, merely letting him contemplate.
Finally, after two quarters, Guangli Bodhisattva softly said, "Guangli understands."
Since the Awakener had intervened, Guangli Bodhisattva believed that it was time to temper the practices within Buddha Country, and even some Buddhish friends might need to be dealt with. Guangli Bodhisattva didn't think anyone could stop the Awakener, and since the Awakener had saved his life, he was willing to stand by Awakener's side.
