Chapter 2: The Beginning At The End
That's not right if the development is the same then even a hundred years ago they should've had access to nuclear weapons to burn away this infection?
[The development is similar but not exactly the same while guns do exist here the scientific community did not have the ample resources available to conduct large scale experiments to create such large scale weapons. As such while there might be some missiles there is nothing large scale.]
As the information sunk in I mourned for the probably millions who died fighting the zombies only to join their ranks thanks to the missing arsenal that could have save them as opposed to the same power that destroyed my own planet.
But then I remembered what the system had called itself, it was a red alert system which means... i'd have access to nukes if I chose to play as the soviets right?
Or hell any of the superweapons would easily be able to deal with monsters right?
Wait a sec.
Hey System where is my MCV? (Mobile Construction Vehicle)?
As I looked around I couldn't spot anything that look even close to the MCV from the game but given I was up about 7 flights of stairs perhaps it was parked on the street instead?
[Due to the unsuitability of the Host's location, it is recommended that the host choose a concealed location for the MCV to deploy. According to the system's rules, protecting the host is the top priority in dangerous situations. The requirement to deploy an MCV and barracks, soldiers can be directly deployed. The host currently has 0 Energy and 1000 Credits initially, and each soldier costs 100 credits would the host like to deploy units?]
I see, so then I guess my system is running from the first game? That means the soldiers I can deploy would be riflemen for that cost.
[Correct, however the rate of deployment is different than the memories of the host each solider will take one minutes to deploy, you can spend the cost of a unit to eliminate the deployment time for the entire queue which means you can summon 9 soldiers right now, or 10 in total is you are willing to wait?]
Well best to just go for the 9 for now, what if something happens while I'm waiting after all.
After deciding so 9 figured appeared in my bedroom.
They were dressed in military uniforms i'd never seen before at least not in real life on earth, their uniform colors however looked like they were drawn from his choices in multiplayer mode as their base color was black with red trim and lining.
There was one other thing I noticed.
Of the nine 4 had an Allied Lee Enflied rifle, while the other 5 had Mosin-Nagant Soviet rifles.
So it seems that I had access to both sides of the Red Alert system rather than having to choose a side that's pretty cool.
Additionally each had a handgun also strapped to their side as a backup weapon, and a simple combat knife on the back of their belts.
"Reporting to the Commander!"
All the soldiers saluted to me after coming to attention.
The collective nine voices we quiet loud due to the enclosed space, but their eyes seemed to sparkle as they looked at me.
As I looked back at them all I could think was, just what in the hell are these people.
Their like Frankenstein monsters they all stand at over 2 meters tall, and are built up like they were gymrats or something.
[Master, they are bio-engineered soldiers manufactured by the barracks. Everything about them is the same as normal people, with normal intelligence. The only thing that doesn't change is their loyalty to the host. Your deployed soldiers and forces will never betray you]
After being told this I calmed down if only a little before speaking to my new men.
"What are you names?"
"Commander, we don't have names."
"Hmmm if that's the case for now you'll be called Alpha, you Bravo, Charlie, Delta...."
Giving all nine of them temporary names, Alpha was elected by me to be the squadron captain, since aside from being the commander himself I knew not how to actually lead troops into battle.
After this I moved to inspect my troops my eyes wandering over their gear, I mean after all what man doesn't have a fascination with guns?
Thanks to my nation being a peaceful one back home getting access to firearms was really expensive and took a ton of paperwork and training before you'd be allowed.
But now, all I had to do was reach out and I could touch them.
Seeing the look on my face, Alpha extracted and handed over his pistol to me.
The metal on my palms was cold, the sleek black exterior of the gun and grip was magnificent, surprisingly both the Allied and Soviet forces had the same handgun, a 1911 Colt.
As I continued to turn the weapon over in my hands a thought occurred.
"What if you run out of ammo?"
"The bullets in our magazines can be replenished at the cost of credits. Just a little credits can fill our magazines."
I breathed a sigh of relief, but then another thought occurred, I just spent all my credits on the nine soldiers before me, so as it stands now this is all the ammo we have.
System, how do I earn credits?
[Credits can be earned by mining resources, or slaying zombies, or mutated creatures as a reward from the system, more credits are earned the higher ranked the zombie or monster.]
It was then that a shrill scream echoed through the air.
