System's POV

Chapter 839: Star-Crossed Battle [Part 2]

If not for Zion's limited strength, the teenage boy could maximize the power of his Soul Eater Armor even more, making him only a step away from breaking the balance of the world.

It made Laplace Demon and The One finally appreciate the System God's foresight to put restrictions on Thirteen's body, preventing him from doing as he pleased!

As the battle intensified between Mildred and the teenage boy, one thing became clear.

Currently, the only attack the Arcane Archer could use to defeat Thirteen was her Piercing Star.

However, the young lady was very hesitant to use this killing move on the teenage boy because this was only a sparring match.

Thus, despite her vast array of magical and physical bombardment, Zion was able to tank and deflect them all to a certain extent.

Although he made it look easy, this was actually a very taxing thing to do.

But since he couldn't launch a counterattack against Mildred, he decided to call for backup.

"Sherry, I need Ace!" Thirteen shouted.

The young lady didn't hesitate and summoned her Adamantine Falcon, which was now a Rank 6 Sovereign.

The Falcon screeched and flew in Thirteen's direction, intending to let the latter jump on his back and mount him to fight an aerial battle against Mildred.

The reason why Thirteen asked Sherry to summon Ace was that the Adamantine Falcon raised its rank by letting attacks rain down on its body.

Simply put, this was the perfect opportunity to help advance Ace's Rank and deal with the Arcane Archer at the same time.

Summoning a bow and arrow, Mildred aimed at the teenage boy, who wasn't fazed that his enemy had decided to fight him in the sky.

'I'll deal with that Adamantine Falcon first,' Mildred thought,

"Starfall Pandemonium Barrage!"

The sky was once again filled with dazzling shooting stars that headed straight toward the Adamantine Falcon, who had a determined expression on his face.

"Ace, I'll leave the rest to you," Thirteen said as he laid flat on the Falcon's back, letting the latter deal with the approaching attack.

Ace gave a screech of acknowledgment and performed aerial maneuvers to tank and evade the incoming magical bolts, putting its defensive prowess to the test.

Thirteen hung on for dear life at the built-in saddle he had custom-made for Sherry, so she could fight in the skies without worrying about falling off from the Adamantine Falcon's back.

Thirteen, who found an opportunity to counterattack, drew the bow in his hands and let his arrow fly.

Mildred, who had exceptional eyesight, sneered as she casually dodged to her right side, evading the arrow that was about to fly harmlessly past her body.

But just as the arrow was about to pass her, it suddenly detonated like a flashbang.

Momentarily stunned by the surprise attack, the Arcane Archer staggered and temporarily lost her sense of hearing and sight.

Not wasting this opportunity to strike, Ace made a nosedive from the sky and grabbed the young lady with its claws, holding her in place.

Erica and Sherry cheered together as the Adamantine Falcon flew in their direction, its prey firmly grasped in its claws.

When Mildred finally regained her senses, she realized that the battle was over, making her sigh in disappointment.

'I knew that Zion was a tricky opponent. I shouldn't have treated his attack lightly.' Mildred, who regretted her decision, could only sigh in regret as Ace released her from its claws, letting her fall to the ground.

Mildred was already prepared for this, so she used an air step to break her fall and land perfectly without suffering any injuries.

She then watched as the Adamantine Falcon circled around before landing beside its Master, Sherry, who praised it for doing an exceptional job of helping Zion fight against Mildred.

"That doesn't count," Mildred complained. "The moment you asked for help, you already lost the match."

"Oh?" Thirteen wasn't fazed in the slightest by Mildred's complaint.

He even looked at the young lady with a carefree smile, which pissed Mildred even more.

"You lost the match!" Mildred stated.

"We didn't have a rule saying I wasn't allowed to use any flying mounts to fight you in the sky,' Thirteen said. 'I didn't order Ace to attack you either. You fell for my trick, and if that happened on the battlefield, you would have been captured, or worse, killed on the spot.

"You should even thank me. After now, you won't repeat the same mistakes in the future. So, this is my win.'

"No, it's not," Mildred insisted. "I can still accept our match being a draw, but I refuse to acknowledge your win because you used external help."

The young lady didn't plan to budge, and accepted her loss, making Thirteen sigh.

"Fine, let's just call it a draw," Thirteen replied.

"Really?" Mildred immediately perked up because she wouldn't have to do that indecent pose, which they both agreed on earlier.

"Really." Thirteen nodded.

"Then, in that case, we'll just say that it's a draw."

"Mmm."

Mildred sighed in relief because she thought that Zion had already agreed that their fight was a draw.

Because of this, she agreed to have a celebration party to commemorate the ending of their training.

Derek, who also regained consciousness, felt disappointed after knowing that he was the only one who lost against the Zion, while Mildred was able to settle for a draw.

"Don't feel down," Thirteen said. "You have truly surprised me with how much you have improved over the years. Your growth and potential are unlimited. One of these days, I will certainly not be able to hold a candle against you anymore."

Feeling praised by Thirteen, Derek was able to overcome his sadness and enjoyed the party to his heart's content.

Sherry, who had traveled Solterra alongside Zion, collected many alcoholic drinks that allowed her to loosen the teenage boy's heart during the times when he reverted back to his nearly robotic self.

The party lasted for four hours before Erica, Sherry, Derek, and Mildred were finally drunk enough to do silly things.

However, Thirteen didn't drink a single sip because they were still traveling to pick up Shana and Diana from the temple.

Being the only one left sober, he helped his two fiancees rest inside their room and tucked them into bed.

Derek was brought to his room by the Trolls, while Mildred, who was still drinking happily, remained.

"You should stop," Thirteen said, grabbing the bottle of wine from the young lady, whose face was already flushed red.

"One more… *hic*," Mildred said.

"No, that's enough." Thirteen firmly took away the bottle, and carried the young lady to her room.

"I'll be honest *hic*," Mildred wrapped her arms around Zion's neck. "I lost that match earlier."

"Now, you finally admit it?" Thirteen arched an eyebrow.

"Mmm." Mildred nodded as the young man laid her down on the bed.

"Since that is the case, you are going to honor our agreement right?" Thirteen asked as he took out a special recording crystal from his dimensional storage.

"Maybe… *hic*." Mildred looked at the teenage boy with an amused expression on her face.

Thirteen asked her to pose properly, so he could record the Arcane Archer's most embarrassing moment.

However, due to her drunken state, Mildred wasn't able to do the proper pose, which made Thirteen record it again and again, sighing every time because the young lady was just messing around.

"This won't work," Thirteen said to the drunken Mildred, who was now giggling because she was playing around with Zion, not fully wanting to cooperate.

"Hehehe! I was just joking!" Mildred, who had managed to sober up a bit, chuckled. "I didn't lose!"

"So, you're going back on our agreement?"

"Yeah! What can you do about it?"

"Since you don't plan to cooperate, I will just have to make you cooperate," Thirteen said with a smile. Explore stories at My Virtual Library Empire

Half an hour later, Thirteen finally left the young lady's room with a smile on his face.

He already had a feeling that Mildred would make things difficult for him in the future, so he decided to take a page from the pointers Vincent listed in the notebook he had left him years ago.

Using the things he learned, he was able to secure the proper recording in his hand

With this in his possession, he could blackmail the Arcane Archer to stop messing with him and stop gossiping about him to other people.

Mildred, who was left all alone inside the room, opened her eyes to glance briefly at the door before closing it again with a satisfied look on her face.

'Erica is right,' Mildred thought. 'You're truly one of a kind.'

A moment later, she fell asleep, not knowing she would forget everything that happened earlier, thinking that all of it was just a dream.
