Chapter 15: SysDi 15: The Intended Form

There is a familiar whoosh passed Evan's ear but his vision changed.

Usually, it would just be a darker look of the surroundings. But now, the entire place seemed to have disappeared.

He is standing in a complete void, nothing else to see other than himself. It was just darkness as far as the eye can see in every direction, even the ground he is standing on.

Evan looks confused. "Iva?" He called out.

The moment he calls its name, a small, translucent panel appears in front of him, as words began to appear on it as if it was being typed.

----- ----- -----

Welcome to the Simulation Zone

> Initiating summoned sequence...

> Error: Summoned sequence not found.

> Attempting to try again...

> Error: Summoned sequence not found.

> Sequence attempt cancelled.

> Awaiting user input.

> ...

----- ----- -----

Evan stared at the words. He can read the words, but have no idea what it meant.

He has been using the Simulation Zone for a few days now, and he still has no idea what it really is.

He puts a hand up in an attempt to touch the panel and he can touch it. He could put a hand on top of it but when he tried to push down, it didn't go through.

Whatever it is, it is solid.

Evan knew he is a user, Iva called him as one the very first time he wore the watch. If this is waiting for him to tell it what to do, he can do that.

He stared at it and pokes it everywhere, trying to see if he can press anything in it.

No, not really.

"Okay, this isn't really funny, Iva." Evan called out loud, looking around to see if it will reply. "I don't understand what's in front of me. Can you come help?"

Silence.

Evan ruffles his hair in frustration before taking a deep breath. "...please?"

The panel in front of him began to put out string of words again.

----- ----- -----

> Initiating summon: IVA...

> Modelling...

> Summon complete.

> Awaiting user input.

> ...

----- ----- -----

A small, blue, balloon-like thing begins to appear in front of Evan. It was a slime, the very same one that he had seen in the stone hill cave.

It bounces up and down in front of him, before stopping on the ground. It didn't attack him, nor it did anything. It's just... there.

"Iva?" Evan calls out again, looking at the slime in confusion.

"Why am I a slime!?" Iva's voice came from the slime itself, bouncing once again in what could only be interpreted as anger in blob form.

Evan tried to stop himself from laughing. So it is Iva. "I'm not sure about that."

He goes towards Iva and picks up the slime. Even without it having any eyebrows, Evan could tell that the slime looked more than annoyed.

It sighs and bounced from Evan's hand to his shoulder. "No matter. I usually can't come here because this is deeper into the watch but you can."

"And what am I supposed to do here, exactly?" Evan asked.

Iva bounced at his shoulder. "This is the original intended form of the Simulation Zone. You still need intention here, but way different from the one you're using. I would say think of it as a game character leveling up, your control giving you access to this quicker than those before you but you only get to come here a limited amount. Not quite sure how many though."

Evan looks around the giant expanse of just darkness around him. This is a level up? His entire vision of his surroundings just completely disappeared.

"Am I a game character?" Evan asked.

Iva's analogy seems to fit, at least to him. He found a watch, equipped it and he has this ability in front of him. Does he have the ability to remove the watch anymore? Not really. Or at least, he's not aware if he can.

Iva bounced again. "If it makes you understand things better, than yes, you can be one."

"I can be one? A game character..." Evan repeats.

In front of him, the panel began typing very quickly. It scrolls down to focus on each sentences being typed but it becomes faster and faster until the words themselves couldn't be read anymore.

Before Evan could say anything, his entire vision goes white.

When he came to, he has his arms and hands up to cover the light in front of him and his eyes were also clenched shut. He slowly opened them when the blinding light disappeared.

Looking around him, he's still in the forest where he last stood. The only difference is that there is still a weight on top of his shoulder.

"The moment you made your decision, you could've at least made me something else other than slime!" Iva says, bouncing on his shoulder.

Evan still couldn't tell if it was angry, just that Iva is just adorable now.

A panel, the same translucent looking one, appears in front of Evan. He looks at it for a moment before his eyes widens.

Evan stared at the panel, putting up a hand and trying to hold it, but his hand went through it. It doesn't seem like it is solid like the one he had encountered earlier.

"What are you doing?" Iva asked, seeing him trying to raise his hand and put it back down. "Are you seeing something I'm not?"

He looks at the slime in his shoulder for a moment. "You can't see this translucent panel Weird... You usually can, right? Is it because you have your own form that you can't see?" Evan turns to the panel. "It's saying you're a permanent pet and I unlocked your slime form."

Iva sighed when it heard that. "If it's unlockable, it means I probably have a lot of different forms. Yey..."

"That's true. For now, I think I should finish my work today and start finding more about this. I feel like there's more I really have to learn."

Evan made his way back towards the area close by to the fields and began to pick berries. He'll explore more after work, he just have to finish what needs to be done.
