“Was that a foreign language?”

I didn’t explain. I had merely muttered in Korean unconsciously, thinking everything was over. Since I didn’t bother to clarify, the knights seemed to lose interest, assuming the foolish prince was just babbling nonsense. They soon resumed chatting amongst themselves.

But at that moment, Cedar suddenly ordered them all to leave.

“…I just remembered something I needed to interrogate him about privately. The rest of you, leave.”

“Yes, sir!”

And once the heavy prison door was completely shut…

“Excuse me.”

“…!”

I raise my head up at the sound of familiar Korean.

To my astonishment, Cedar, the very one who had just spoken in Korean, stepped forward with certainty, as if he was sure I had understood him. He grabbed my shoulders with an urgency akin to finding an oasis in the middle of a desert.

“You’re Korean, right? Do you have any idea where we are? Did you also wake up in someone else’s body?”

“Ah…”

I looked up at him, unable to find words. The cold, distant expression I had seen earlier is gone, replaced by anxious, trembling eyes that couldn’t hide his unease.

“You definitely just said ‘씨발’ (fuck), right? You understand me, don’t you?”

“…”

Still too shocked to react properly, I glanced around, bewildered. Sensing my hesitation, Cedr lightly patted my shoulder, as if to reassure me.

“There’s no one eavesdropping. It’s just you and me here.”

Encouraging me to speak freely, he pulled a chair closer and sat down.

I was still dazed, but seeing the desperate expression in his eyes, I managed to ask in a trembling voice.

“…D-Did you… possess someone too?”

“Possess? Like a ghost?”

“No, I mean… This is a novel, right?”

“A novel?”

To my shock, I wasn’t the only one who had possessed someone in this world.

Cedar Valencia.

The enemy of the protagonist, Johan.

And the supreme commander of this foreign nation, the very one who had nearly sent me, a harmless possessor, to the guillotine…

“Then… how do we get out of this novel?”

He is Korean!

Cedar said he had possessed this body a week ago, on the very day of the conquest of the royal capital.

“When I came to my senses, I was suddenly on horseback with a sword in my hand… At first, I thought I was dreaming.”

But when he started cutting down the relentless knights of Milos, he began to sense that something was off.

“I’ve never learned swordsmanship before. But every time I swung, people dropped like twigs…”

The imperial knights who called him ‘commander’ were strangers to him. But whenever he found himself in a difficult situation, memories of them would surface in his mind, allowing him to get by with surprising ease.

“And my speech patterns,if I don’t consciously control them, I start talking like this body’s original owner. There’s a weird gap between what I think and what actually comes out of my mouth… Some reflexive actions are also hard to control.”

Hearing this, I gaped in astonishment.

‘This guy… possessed Cedar Valencia along with his memories?’

Meanwhile, I had possessed like a blank sheet of paper and suffered as a result!

Fortunately, since the prince was known to be ill, no one found it strange that I wasn’t acting exactly like ‘Louis.’ They simply assumed it was due to my sickness…

‘Do you know how hard it was to pretend to be Louis just so I wouldn’t be suspected?!’

At this point, I felt utterly wronged.

“So, you’ve been surviving all this time… with Cedar Valencia’s memories?”

“Yes.”

“…I have no such memories.”

‘Maybe possessing Louis was actually a blessing in disguise?’

If I had possessed Cedar Valencia without any of his memories… I might have been cut down in battle the moment I opened my eyes.

No, even with memories, the idea of waking up in a foreign world and immediately fighting a war is insane… But despite that, the person who possessed Cedar seemed oddly calm.I wondered if it was because of Cedar’s memories—or if it was just his original personality.

“…So you survived in this prince’s body with no information at all?”

“Yes… It was seriously fucking hard.”

The conversation flowed smoothly after that. The person who possessed Cedar is not a ruthless warmonger, but rather a reasonable person. And since I am also a reasonable person, we quickly bonded over an honest discussion.

“And to make things worse, I possessed some disposable extra who’s supposed to die…”

“An extra who dies?”

Cedar suddenly tilted his head, looking puzzled.

“You said this is a book, right? A novel?”

“Yes.”

“…Then what’s the story about? Cedar’s in it too?”

“What? Of course—! Wait… This is the !”

But Cedar’s expression remained confused. He scratched his cheek awkwardly and replied,

“Ah… I don’t really read novels. Is it a famous one? A bestseller or something?”

“…Huh?”

To my utter disbelief, he had no idea about Incarnation of Revenge’s plot. In other words, he had possessed a character from a book he had never even read.

“Ha,that doesn’t make sense… You don’t read web novels at all?”

“No. I don’t really understand fantasy stories.”

“…Wait, so… You don’t even know who Cedar is, but you just have his memories?”

“Seems like it.”

Watching his nonchalant reaction, I suddenly realized. this was an incredible opportunity.

‘Wait… That means… I’m the only one who knows what happens next?’

So far, I had only given him a general idea that we had possessed characters at the start of the novel. But I hadn’t told him the full details of the plot yet.

And right now, while I hadn’t been sent to the guillotine yet, I was still an unstable prisoner.

‘If I play this right… I might be able to get Cedar’s full support!’

But, before I revealed everything, I needed to confirm Cedar’s character.

Right now, in ‘Luis’s’ body, I has no real power.

‘From our conversation, the guy who possessed Cedar doesn’t seem like he’s a bad person… .’

Thinking about the value of the information I had, I knew he might react differently once he realized its worth.

So, I asked him.

“Hey, Cedar.”

“Yes?”

“If I end up in a situation where I might die here… would you help me survive?”

Cedar looked startled but answered immediately.

“Of course. Is something wrong?”

His sincerity touched me. Sure, up until the moment I had spoken Korean, he had seemed completely indifferent to whether I lived or died. But that was probably just because of the strange circumstances we were in.

‘It feels like being stranded abroad and finally meeting another Korean who’s willing to help.’

At the very least, he doesn’t seem like the type to ignore someone dying right in front of him. And for me, that is the most important thing.

‘Cedar… is necessary for me. Not just because he holds an important position, but… because he seems like a decent person at his core.’

And if he accepted this deal, it would benefit him as well. In a way, we were both in the same predicament.

So, from that moment on, I decided to tell him everything I knew.

“I told you this is a book, right?”

“Yes.”

“Well, events from the book are actually happening here. Which means… now that we’re inside this world, the ending is more or less predetermined.”

Cedar seemed to think about this for a moment before asking,

“You mean that ‘extra who dies’ you mentioned earlier?”

“Exactly!”

I smiled, appreciating how quick he was to catch on, and then explained my current situation. So far everything was still following the novel’s storyline…and that storyline was not in our favor.

“If things continue the way they do in the novel… I’ll die. And after that, you’ll be killed by John.”

I looked at him seriously be

fore adding,

“That’s how Incarnation of Revenge ends. Johan is the protagonist of this story.”
