Sweeping the Academy with a Wooden Sword

Chapter 22 - New Humanity Society (1)

Lee Dojin, holding the wooden sword in his right hand, slowly headed outside of .

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions rang out one after another. Lee Dojin raised his qi sense throughout his whole body to determine the source of the explosions.

“Wouldn’t it be better to go out after the chaos subsides a bit?”

It was Han Seong-oh, the gatekeeper who had first blocked Lee Dojin’s way.
Lee Dojin slowly shook his head.

“It’s fine.”

From the moment he gripped the wooden sword, his whole body became calm.
Because certainty in himself filled his entire body.

Kihahahahaha!

Laughter covered the Myeongdong Hunter Street.
A chilling high-pitched laugh.

“Seems to be a villain.”

Lee Dojin inwardly agreed with Han Seong-oh’s words.

“Inferior old humans! Foolish old humans! The mission of hunters is not to destroy monsters! It’s to eliminate all old humans! That is the mission of the new humans! Comrades!”

The man’s lines, recited as if he were a musical actor, brought a certain group to mind for both of them.

“…The New Humanity Society?”

Han Seong-oh furrowed his brow.

New Humanity Society (新人類會).
A villain group that started activities 4 years ago.
They belong to the ‘Special Management Villains’ category, allowing on-site execution.

After the Great Change, the minority who began awakening to mana were ‘hunters’, the new humans.

It’s a villain group that calls the majority of humanity who couldn’t awaken ‘old humans’.

It was one of the villain groups that took on a religious form.

The doctrine revealed by the leader of the New Humanity Society was just one:

The enemy of the new humans is not monsters, but old humans.
Only when all old humans are erased from the Earth will true peace come to this world.

The head of the Hunters Association, who had been confronting the New Humanity Society for a long time, once said that half of the New Humanity Society were crazy people who truly believed in that insane ideology, and the other half were just pleasure-seekers who enjoyed slaughter.

Han Seong-oh pulled out a huge axe from his spatial pocket. Lee Dojin, holding his wooden sword, opened the door of Helix and came outside.

“Stay here. Please protect this area.”

Lee Dojin stopped Han Seong-oh, who was trying to come along.

“You’re still a student, aren’t you? Real combat…”

Lee Dojin walked forward, leaving Han Seong-oh behind.

Boom!

He ran towards the source of the continuing explosions.

Baek Hwayeon also stuck close to Lee Dojin’s side with a hardened face, fingering the sword at her waist.

Crunch!

The sound of bones being crushed rang out. A man with spiky yellow hair sticking up threw down the man he had been holding onto the ground.

His head was half crushed.
Like a deflated soccer ball.

A pool of blood formed from the blood oozing out.

“…”

It welled up.
Not fear, but anger.
Quite a cold anger.

Lee Dojin ignited sword energy on his wooden sword without hesitation.
The colorless sword energy slowly began to burn.

“Oh, brother. Aren’t you a new human like us? Instead of crossing swords, let’s lead the cause together.”

Despite looking no different from a rocker, the yellow-haired man spoke quite gentlemanly words.

Lee Dojin just indifferently pointed his wooden sword at the man.

“You don’t intend to talk? Your eyes are very resolute. You’ve already been corrupted by old human society.”

The man’s calm eyes suddenly turned sharp.

“Ah… then I shall pass judgment on you, brother. I am Lee Jin-woo of the New Humanity Society.”

The atmosphere reversed.
The man, Lee Jin-woo, raised the corners of his mouth. Grotesquely, as if about to reach the ends of his cheeks.

Then suddenly he brought his hands together. And the moment he separated them again.

Crackle!

Countless blue lightning branches connected his separated hands like tangled threads.

Lee Dojin carefully observed the movement of the lightning.

‘Trait type.’

Commonly called superpowers.

Baek Hwayeon urgently opened her mouth.

“Be careful! He’s probably… the villain ranked 10th strongest in the New Humanity Society.”

And those words reached Lee Jin-woo’s ears as well.

“Hmm, sister. That’s a bit of a wrong explanation. It’s not that I’m the 10th strongest. The other 9 are just seniors who joined earlier than me.”

Lee Jin-woo’s eyes were fixed on Lee Dojin’s wooden sword.

“But seeing you explain about me… the fact that you’re standing in front of me with just a wooden sword means you’re really an ignorant little brat who doesn’t know the ways of the world, huh?”

Lee Jin-woo swung his hands condensed with lightning and stepped forward.

Crackle!

Electricity extending infinitely like heat haze.
Sharp lightning like a slash made of sword energy struck down on Lee Dojin in two branches.

There was nothing to think about.
What briefly stayed in his mind were only Sword Emperor Dan Cheonwoo’s words.

-Think simply.
Reverse Heaven. Your sword can cut all things in creation.

Lee Dojin took a firm stance.
It didn’t matter whether what was surging before his eyes was a superpower or whatever.

Everything visible to the eye.
Everything that can be perceived falls under the category of all things in creation.

He swung the wooden sword diagonally downward.

Swish!

A clear crack simultaneously appeared in the two branches of lightning striking down.

One complete line of fracture.

Slash!

Blood splattered.

“Huh…?”

It was literally in the blink of an eye.
He couldn’t understand why his right hand was rolling on the ground and blood was spurting like a fountain from his wrist.

“You bastard… what the hell did you do.”

Lee Jin-woo’s cheerful voice gradually became smaller.

“I’ve never seen a crazy bastard who could cut my lightning before!”

Because lightning is something whose exact form can’t be accurately gauged from the outside.

Lightning always strikes in an instant, and in that instant, it has always killed its opponents.

It’s not that he had never almost died.
But his ability, lightning, had never been nullified like this.

Even strong guys have fear of the unknown.
And his ability had always at least given that fear. They all chose to avoid it, not a single hunter had ever directly confronted the lightning.

Lee Dojin just silently approached.
Holding the wooden sword.

Thud-

Lee Jin-woo stepped back repeatedly.

The unknown fear that he had only given to others until now.
He was receiving it himself.

“F…uck.”

Lee Jin-woo gathered his wits.

“Keuuk.”

He crushed his severed right arm with lightning.

Lee Jin-woo’s mind accelerated. Should he run away? Could he run away from this brat who wasn’t like a brat?

“Jin-woo.”

Lee Jin-woo shuddered at the low, youthful voice.

“S-Sister.”

Lee Jin-woo looked back. Behind Lee Jin-woo and Lee Dojin who were confronting each other was a white-haired woman.

Her eyes were glowing bright red.

“If you run away now, I’ll kill you.”

The woman was holding a huge sickle in her hand. A sickle covered in blood.

The woman licked her red lips.

“Let’s die beautifully here instead. If I end up killing you, I don’t think it will be beautiful.”

The woman smiled.

“Beautiful is good, right? Don’t you agree?”

Lee Jin-woo smiled back awkwardly.

“Haha, that’s right. Beautiful is good. Sister.”

Creak!

Lee Jin-woo was able to organize his thoughts due to the woman’s threat.

The number of ways to die increased to two.
Either die by this brat who wasn’t like a brat,
Or die by that woman.

Lee Jin-woo concluded that the highest probability of him surviving was somehow incapacitating Lee Dojin.

He condensed lightning in his remaining left hand again.

He awakened all the lightning accumulated in his dantian. Electricity sparked throughout Lee Jin-woo’s entire body.

Lee Jin-woo, whose whole body was dyed blue, kicked the ground.
Blue lightning scattered in all directions.

“Die! You brat!!”

It was a shout to smash the unknown fear.
The electric current covered the cement ground.

Dozens of lightning bolts fell from both the ground and the sky. Flashes of light burst repeatedly.

An overwhelming sight.
Lee Dojin muttered softly in the face of that pressure.

“You, you’re scared.”

You’re just scattering a lot of crude things, that’s all.

“That first strike was actually fiercer.”

Lee Jin-woo’s face twisted severely.
With a speck of anger and pervasive fear.

Lee Dojin swung his wooden sword horizontally.

A gale blew.

Crackle…!

The lightning crawling on the ground extinguished instantly like candles blown out by the wind.

Just one point.

The trajectories of the lightning striking down from all directions towards Lee Dojin were all bent.

Thud!

Lee Dojin took a strong stance on the ground again. Because he was using the Reverse Heaven Divine Technique, his body’s elasticity far surpassed that of humans.

A body shot like a bullet.
And the tip of the wooden sword in his hand stabbed into Lee Jin-woo’s shoulder.

“Kruaaaah!”
The lightning began to fade.
Like a final burst of light. Flashing violently.

Pulling the wooden sword out of the shoulder-
He stabbed the sword into the heart without hesitation.

From the moment he saw the person Lee Jin-woo had killed, the option of letting him live was erased.

Lee Jin-woo’s corpse grew cold.

“Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful…”

A low, youthful voice kept coming.
Lee Dojin stared at the woman.

The one who seemed to be Lee Jin-woo’s superior.
And the being who erased the option of escape for Lee Jin-woo.

She was smiling at Lee Dojin.

“Even though we’re special management villains who can be killed on site. That unhesitating hand movement. So beautiful. That sword path full of self-confidence. Enchanting.”

The woman wearing a snow-white uniform that seemed to be the New Humanity Society’s uniform exuded an aura.

Lee Dojin exuded an aura back to match that overwhelming pressure.

“Even your aura is beautiful.”

The red eyes gleamed with some kind of desire.

Thud thud thud thud!

The sound of five or six helicopters could be heard in the distance.
Numerous alarm sounds also began to be heard.

“I’m Ryu So-hye, vice leader of the New Humanity Society. We’ll have to meet again next time. Us.”

Lee Dojin couldn’t easily step forward because of Baek Hwayeon beside him.

An overwhelming presence no less than the Sword Empress.
It was clear that with an opponent exuding that level of aura, it would be difficult to fight while protecting Baek Hwayeon.

“Don’t die until we meet again. It’s a promise.”

Ryu So-hye turned her back.
And disappeared in an instant.

“Haah…”

Lee Dojin, who was actually the one involved in the fight, stood still, but Baek Hwayeon beside him exhaled and collapsed to the ground.

And only then did several hunters, Awakened Management Bureau agents, and police officers who had arrived surround Lee Dojin.
