Chapter 4: Troublesome Elves (1)
Chapter 4: Troublesome Elves (1)
“Whatever you do, don’t listen to her, she will only lead you to some trap.”
As if things weren’t weird enough. A new weird creature appeared. The next one was wearing a white dress and was blonde. The little thing had short blonde hair and crystal-like blue eyes. She was also no bigger than Luke’s fist, but it also had long pointy ears.
Luke massaged his eyes and then shook his head. He was hallucinating… he just needed to roll on the bed, and then he would fall, and the dream would end.
“Are you feeling unwell?” The mini elf asked.
“Your presence is so nauseating that it is making him sick,” The little dark elf said.
If it was a dream or not, it didn’t matter. All that Luke knew was the fact that everything that wasn’t human was a potential enemy. So, he stepped backward and prepared his knives.
“Calm down, I am not your enemy, but she certainly is,” The small elf said. “I am here to help you.”
“Thanks, but no thanks,” Luke said. “I won’t let strange creatures decide things for me. Such as who are my enemies.”
“I like your style,” The little dark elf said. “I will show that I am here to help you. Let me rest your shoulder and I will increase your mana regeneration.”
“I can do the same and increase your regeneration of health and stamina,” the little elf said. “Naturally, I can help more.”
The two little creatures began to argue again as if they thought that they weren’t making any noise. Luke heard the footsteps of the zombie’s increase, and he prepared to fight.
“Sorry, but you two are five years later,” Luke said. “You would be able to fool me if I were in the apex of puberty, but I am not.”
The two little creatures panicked after opening their eyes wildly. They knew that they couldn’t escape Luke’s attack from that distance, so they just waited for the inevitable since they failed on their mission. However, the attack never came. Instead of that, Luke turned around to face the zombies who were hitting the door.
“If they wanted my head, they had the chance to attack me from behind…” Luke thought. “In the end, I can’t just kill such two little cute things… but I can’t let myself be fooled by their appearances. I just have to ignore them.”
The door fell, and then a group of seven zombies showed up. At that rate, Luke will run out of weapons even before he leaves the campus… Nevertheless, during that conversation, Luke recovered some of his mana. As expected, focus really increased his energy regeneration. Still, he only had ten mana points, and he would need all fourteen to defeat so many enemies.
“Ah, I can use that…” Luke thought.
While he was walking backward, Luke used Weapon Augmentation in two knives, and then they flew toward the enemy’s head. Before the ones behind could approach, the falling corpses got in their way and gave Luke time to grab other weapons.
You obtained 05 experience points.
You obtained 05 gold coins.
Congratulations! You have leveled up and obtained 05 status points.
Just as Luke had expected, he leveled up after killing the fifth zombie and didn’t have to use his mana potion. With those two levels up, Luke gained confidence, but he still used Weapon Augmentation to kill the remaining zombies. Putting experience and confidence aside, Luke could only achieve so much by trying to use kitchen knives.
You obtained 02 experience points.
You obtained 02 gold coins.
Before allocating the status points, Luke saw a short sword on the side of one of the corpses. When he picked it, he felt a feeling of power passing through his body.
Short Sword (Common)
A good and well-balanced sword that can be used against most opponents.
STR + 02
Durability: 10/10
“I guess I should use this normally instead of Weapon Augmentation,” Luke nodded to himself.
“You should use that skill alongside this sword when a big monster appears,” The dark elf said. “They are quickly multiplying.”
“If you increase your speed by five points, you can easily defeat the zombies without relying on that skill,” The elf said. “When you lack experience to fight, speed is more than essential.”
“… Why are you still here?” Luke asked after he furrowed his eyebrows. “You lost your chance to escape.”
“In order to make you reach your true potential, I cannot leave,” The dark elf said.
“If you want to preserve your species, you will need my assistance,” the elf said.
Luke felt that he was wasting time there, but it seemed that those two had an idea of what was going on, so maybe he should listen to them. After thinking for a couple of seconds, he recalled what he heard in that dream, was that voice referring to those two? Luke thought it had been a dream, but it seemed like it had been a message from someone in the future.
“Do you know what is going on here?” Luke asked. “Speaking of which, why do you two want to tag along? I am sure that there are other humans who would gladly welcome you.”
“The world as you know is ending, there are two reasons why this kind of change would take place,” The dark elf began to explain. “The first is that it is being caused by the one responsible for this part of the universe. The second is that the person responsible for this region lost control over it and someone else is causing this to make your planet into a well of mana.”
“As to why we choose you, it is because you survived your first battles and obtained a skill that will help you change the future of this world drastically,” the elf said. “Usually, only one of us would be able to talk to you, but since you are neither too chaotic nor too lawful, we both can talk to you. It seems that your principles are too brandy, you should correct yourself and become an upstanding person.”
