Chapter 11: Request (4)
Chapter 11: Request (4)
By using Weapon Augmentation level two, Luke threw a knife toward the enemies and killed two of them when the skill’s effect took place. Before the corpses could even fall, Luke used Stinger and approached the lonely zombie that was on the left side. Just like before, he sliced the creature’s throat until the knife reached its brain. However, Luke didn’t let the zombie fall; instead, he kicked it and made it hit the remaining zombies.
The creatures staggered thanks to the impact and Luke Stinger again. This time, since the creature was closer, he aimed his knife toward the monster’s right eye, and while he hit the nose, the knife still pierced the enemy’s brain. Once again, Luke prevented the creature’s fall and then kicked the body. However, when the last zombie was hit by it, Luke didn’t do anything besides approaching normally and stabbing its head with the knife.
You obtained 05 experience points.
You obtained 05 gold coins.
Luke looked around in hopes of finding a weapon, but he didn’t find any drops. While he was managing to fight with knives, he knew very well that it didn’t suit him.
“I forgot to ask, but how can I use the gold coins?” Luke asked. “I don’t want to rely on luck forever to obtain weapons.”
“You can use it at midnight, it is the only time that the shop system is open,” Rina explained.
“Why?” Luke asked.
“It is just how things are… I am not certain as to why,” Rina replied.
“I am starting to think that you two only know the bare minimum…” Luke frowned.
“It can’t be helped, I don’t know about her, but this is my first time trying to find an ally and in my world, I only fought for five years,” Rina explained.
“This is also my first time recruiting someone,” Shalia said. “And in my world, I fought for four years.”
Luke was having a hard time imagining that situation lasting for so long… while leveling up and getting strong was fun, he needed the internet. He couldn’t survive without watching every week of his series and reading his manga. Luke realized that his mindset still needed improvement…
When Luke began to run again, he heard some gunshots, but they stayed behind this time. They might make an interesting combination with Weapon Augmentation, but it would be dangerous for him to approach gun shops. He didn’t know a single thing about them. Besides, if someone is already in those, he might get shot…
At the next crossroads, Luke heard the sound of people screaming and running. At the same time, he felt a slight tremor on the ground. That was never a good sign… Luke decided to proceed slowly, but the group of people ran toward his direction. Their expressions of fear were hard to describe when they saw Luke since they mistook him for a zombie, but soon they realized the mistake and ignored him and began to run.
“At least tell me what is going on…” Luke frowned.
Even amidst the mist, it didn’t take long for Luke to find why those people were running away. He found a big and round zombie clumsily moving toward them.
“A mutant… it is a bit too soon to find another of those,” Rina said.
The fat zombie lost interest in the other survivors and faced Luke, and then suddenly, the creature bent its body backward and then leaped forward. The speed of the charge made Luke open his eyes widely, he moved to the side out of reflex, but he still got hit by the side of the belly of the fat zombie. It felt like he had been hit by steel… he almost heard the sound of his ribs cracking.
“My ribs… He is pretty fast for someone so fat,” Luke said while showing a pained expression.
Luke realized that the creature was two meters tall and probably weighed seven hundred pounds by seeing it from up close. The fat was so concentrated that its body looked like it was made of metal.
“It can charge fast, but it’s true characteristic is its endurance,” Rina said while the creature was turning around. “Don’t try to get too close, and always aim for the head.”
If he couldn’t get close, then Luke’s only option was to rely on Weapon Augmentation. Hopefully, he will have enough mana to kill that thing…
Before the monster could turn around completely, Luke began to run around the monster. The creature tried to find him, but Luke hid it in its blind spot.
“What a stupid creature…” Luke said and then used Weapon Augmentation on the two knives on his hands.
The number of projectiles doubled while they flew toward the monster, and in the end, Luke hit the back of the zombie’s head four times… However, the fat was so thick on the creature’s neck that the knives didn’t even pierce the skull.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Luke asked in shock.
“Aim for the eyes and you should be fine,” Shalia said.
That was easier said than done. After all, he had to be in front of the monster to aim for the eyes, and that charge was just too fast.
“No pain, no gain… I suppose,” Luke said while forcing a smile.
Luke looked around before deciding to attack and then moved behind a power pole. The creature probably could knock that down, but Luke wasn’t looking for something that would protect him with one hundred percent of a chance.
When the zombie finally found Luke, it saw him close to the power pole, but not behind it. In the end, when it prepared the charge, Luke moved and hid behind it, but the creature didn’t stop because of that. The very moment the zombie charged, Luke fired two knives after activating Weapon Augmentation. The eyes of the monster were pierced, and then it lost the sight. Before dying, though, it hit the power pole. The zombie’s belly bent the steel and then made the pole fall in its direction… Luke felt shivers when he heard the sound of flesh and bones being smashed, and the sight almost made him lose the poor breakfast that he had a couple of minutes ago. On the good hand, the pile of blood and flesh, he found a long sword… he just needed to find the will to hold it while ignoring the stench of dead flesh and fat that was engraved in it now.
