Supreme Warrior in the City

Chapter 1739: An Ambush

The three of them didn't linger near the Zhang Family; they left the Zhang Family's territory together.

After walking past two mountain paths, Qi Zhishan suddenly stopped. He furrowed his brows, looked at the forest ahead, and said in a deep voice, "Someone's lying in ambush!"

Su Yang and Lv Donglin were not as perceptive as Qi Zhishan and hadn't sensed anything yet. However, with Qi Zhishan saying so, it must be true.

"Who are they?" Su Yang asked.

"I don't know, but their capabilities are mediocre!" Qi Zhishan replied quietly, "Pretend you haven't noticed anything, keep moving forward, and see what their intentions are!"

Su Yang nodded and, together with Lv Donglin, continued forward behind Qi Zhishan. Certainly, this time, the two were much more vigilant; after all, who knows who might be hidden in the shadows!

In fact, Su Yang hadn't expected that they would be ambushed here.

Knowing that the four major sects are too busy with internal strife, they shouldn't be attacking them now. Besides, this is the territory of the Martial Champion's Zhang Family, and they have the top expert Qi Zhishan with them. Anyone ambushing them here is practically courting death.

After walking about a kilometer, Su Yang finally sensed the aura of people lying in wait around them. Just as Qi Zhishan said, these people's capabilities were indeed very mediocre.

They continued pretending they were unaware, pressing onward. Upon reaching the vicinity of the ambush circle, suddenly, dozens of people leapt out from the surrounding woods, shouting aggressively as they rushed towards the trio.

"Su Yang, meet your end!" A man shouted loudly as he charged over, and the others also wore vicious expressions, as if they held a deep-seated grudge against Su Yang.

However, these individuals were simply too weak. Without Qi Zhishan needing to step in, Su Yang and Lv Donglin quickly subdued the dozens of attackers.

Su Yang finally had time to examine these people closely, and he couldn't help but be surprised, as among them were several he actually recognized—his old enemies.

These foes were from some families who had tried to deal with Su Yang when he first arrived in Capital City. Some of those families had already been destroyed by Su Yang, but some escaped, becoming loose ends. To think they chose this moment to ambush Su Yang was entirely unexpected.

"So it's you guys!" Su Yang glanced at them, saying coldly, "With your level of power, you want to kill me? Aren't you overestimating yourselves a bit?"

These people looked bewildered, clearly not expecting to be defeated so easily by Su Yang and the others.

"Aren't you supposed to be at the Zhang Family duel?" the leading man stammered, "Why... why aren't you injured?"

Su Yang suddenly realized, understanding their reasoning now. These people had learned about their visit to the Zhang Family for a duel, thinking they could take advantage, so they lay in ambush nearby, hoping to kill Su Yang.

But they didn't know that the one actually dueling with the Zhang Family was Qi Zhishan. Su Yang and Lv Donglin hadn't even entered the house, naturally remaining unscathed. Moreover, though Qi Zhishan fought with the Martial Champion, they concluded quickly without Qi Zhishan expending much power. For these people to choose this time to ambush Su Yang was truly suicidal!

"Who told you I was going to duel with the Zhang Family?" Su Yang frowned, puzzled about their source of information. After all, the decision for him and Lv Donglin to visit the Capital City was spur of the moment; no one else knew. So how did they get this information?

"The second elder of the Medicine Sect himself passed on the information; how could it be false!" the man replied.

"Second elder!?" Su Yang gasped. The second elder had been betrayed and was already in a precarious position himself; how did he find time to convey messages to these people?

Could it be he planned to use others to do his dirty work? But what's the point? These people aren't a match for Su Yang at all. Sending them is just sending them to die without even scratching Su Yang.

After contemplating for a moment, Su Yang still couldn't fathom the second elder's intent and said sternly, "You've been tricked, fools!"

These people now realized they had indeed been deceived—Su Yang showed no sign of injury, unlike someone who had just dueled.

"So what!" the leading man gritted his teeth, "Even if we can't kill you, someone else will. Su Yang, you won't live much longer; we'll meet in the afterlife. Just guess how many will seek revenge there!"

Su Yang sneered; these people were truly deluded.

"Since you're so eager to go, I'll help you along!" Lv Donglin directly struck the man on the forehead with a palm, and the man grunted before slowly falling to the ground.

Others looked at each other in fear; they were terrified. They had escaped before due to fear of death, and now, facing death again, how could they not be afraid?

"And what about you?" Lv Donglin glanced at the remaining people, "Are you planning to go underground to seek revenge on Su Yang, or what?"

Their faces were flustered, and no one dared to respond.

"Keeping such people around is pointless; kill them!" Qi Zhishan said straightforwardly.

Su Yang couldn't help but be surprised—Qi Zhishan was known for being kind-hearted, rarely hurting others. It's unexpected to see such a shift in Qi Zhishan now.

"I agree wholeheartedly!" Lv Donglin chimed in, "Leaving such people around is just a waste of food; it's better to kill them!"

With that, Lv Donglin started to take them out himself.

Those people became chaotic immediately, running in a panic, trying to escape.

Qi Zhishan circled his hands, and a massive water dragon appeared, enclosing them within, preventing any chance of escape.

Trapped in the middle, they were like lambs awaiting slaughter. Su Yang didn't even need to act; Lv Donglin alone was enough to obliterate them.

Suddenly, one person charged at Su Yang, yelling, "Su Yang, I'll fight you!"

Su Yang furrowed his brow and sent a palm strike towards him.

The person was launched by Su Yang's palm, but while flying backward, he spat a cloud of black mist toward Su Yang, like an octopus.

Su Yang reacted quickly, retreating hastily to avoid the mist. Yet, the mist was so widespread that he couldn't completely evade it, and some spots of mist fell onto him.

Su Yang initially thought the mist would be corrosive, but upon contact, there was no sensation at all, surprising him.

If it was harmless mist, why would the man desperately spew it at Su Yang?
