Chapter 376: Rebel
One by one, Ned freed the slaves whose keys he had. But this was only a small part of the total number of prisoners.
There were still many slaves in the cages, waiting hopefully for release. They looked anxiously at Ned, who was now in the form of Sierra.
All the cages were securely protected from burglary and had formations that prevented slaves from even touching the bars. Like the collars, these cages were of platinum quality, which allowed them to hold only creatures of platinum rank and below. They could no longer restrain the diamond creatures, as well as the collars.
This fact, of course, played into Ned's hands.
Having a sufficient number of freed slaves, most of whom were gold rank and below, Ned, no longer fearing detection, began to forcefully destroy the cages and free the slaves. He took off his collars and joined the ranks of those released.
Although there were few platinum prisoners, there were still some.
"Thank you! Thank you!" the slave Ned thanked in his strange language and rushed to the rest of the freed slaves.
Ned was fluent in all languages due to his connection with the Master, so he had no problems communicating. However, as someone who prefers to remain silent, he did not answer any of the slaves' questions. The slaves had already noticed this and easily accepted his behavior.
"Kill them! Kill!" the freed slaves shouted, rushing at the guards, who came running to the alarm about the breaking of the cages. And the first guards quickly fell under the onslaught of the angry crowd of slaves.
After dealing with the first wave of guards, the slaves grabbed their uniforms and weapons, becoming more formidable than before.
After all the slaves were freed, Ned dissolved into their mass, disappearing from sight and mixing with them. And now none of the slaves could point to him and say that it was he who freed them.
Ned, hiding in the crowd of slaves, watched with a wide smile as the bravest of them bravely fought the guards.
The freed slaves, although they aspired to freedom and salvation, realized what awaited them.
They knew that if they hadn't been freed by this strange guy who could transform into a woman, they would have been sold to the local creatures of darkness, and an unenviable fate awaited them.
No one could predict who would get this or that slave and what measures the owners would take, but everyone was sure that among these dark creatures there would not be a single kind and merciful one.
Therefore, having received a chance for short-term freedom, most wanted to meet their end in battle, and not in torture and other terrible consequences. Knowing their end, most of the slaves fought desperately and bravely.
Cowards, Ned thought, seeing among the slaves those who were trying to hide behind the others and avoid participating in the battle. This was expected, and Ned wasn't surprised to see them.
He imperceptibly appeared in front of these timid slaves, in the form of his Master, and looked at them with a cold smile on his face.
Ned deliberately did not restrain his powers, allowing them to sense his true rank — Platinum.
Under the pressure of his might, the Gold-ranked slaves cowered in fear, unable to even look into his eyes.
"Fight or die!" said Ned, mimicking Idan's cold voice.
Before the slaves could respond, from the opposite side of the main door, where the guards and slaves were fighting fiercely, the rear emergency door opened with a loud noise, and a new wave of guards poured in.
"Ha ha ha ha, — Ned laughed, watching the action. Then, focusing on the cowardly slaves again, he swung his sword filled with aura and split one of them in one blow. The creature of an unknown race did not even have time to scream, as it fell dead to the ground, splattering everything with strange green blood.
Upon seeing their comrade's death, the slaves trembled, and some of them even began to secrete a strange, pungent-smelling liquid beneath them.
"Fight or die!" repeated Ned with a wide smile, enjoying the desperation of the slaves. When he once again raised his sword, the slaves, finally realizing that they did not want to accept death from his blow, turned around and rushed at the guards who were already running towards them.
"Behind you! Guards from behind!" a shout rang out, and the slaves who had not participated in the battle at the main entrance turned around and, seeing the attack, rushed into battle, joining those who were already fighting.
Ned joined the battle himself. His goal was to find and fight the strongest guards.
He carefully studied the fluctuations of the guards' power, trying to detect the Diamond-ranked creatures. When he couldn't find them, he immediately moved on to the Platinum Rank guards. When he saw the first of them, he rushed straight at him, filling his sword with aura and fire elements.
The Platinum-ranked guard, sensing the fluctuations of Platinum-ranked power among the slaves, immediately turned his attention to Ned.
In a fight with a platinum-ranked guard, Ned's sword, reinforced with two different elements, easily cut through the guard's weapon created from the element of darkness, which greatly surprised the latter.
After destroying his enemy's sword, Ned stretched out his hand as if trying to grab the guard, and released his Soul Power, enhanced by the Energy of Madness.
Suddenly, a huge purple-pink hand appeared in front of the guard, which prevented him from escaping. With a smile on his face, Ned clenched his hands into a fist, and following that, the huge hand that was clutching the guard clenched, turning him into a bloody mess.
After killing his opponent, Ned immediately dispelled the Hand of Madness and acutely felt how much of his accumulated Madness Energy had been spent.
Unlike Idan, who had previously experienced strong reactions after using a similar ability, Ned, a being who grew up on the energy of Madness and learned to control it, did not face any serious consequences. The only consequence for him was a big waste of energy.
However, this did not become a problem for him.
Even outside the Forest of Doppelgangers, Ned, in the chaos of battle and death, could quickly replenish the spent energy of Madness.
