Chapter 371: Okay, you can leave this matter to me
In one of the many dark and confusing alleys of the night city, far from its central area, a single cloaked figure appeared. A small fox was sitting on the shoulder of this figure, happily munching on something.
That figure was Idan.
He had recently left the central part of the city and was now moving through the middle districts, heading towards the outskirts in the hope of leaving this gloomy city as soon as possible.
After leaving the central area, Idan reunited with Coco, who caught up with him, successfully completing her mission. As a reward for this, she received another portion of sweets from him.
In turn, through his connection with Ned, Idan felt that he had already begun his task of wreaking havoc in the dungeon of the Trading House. From time to time, Idan could sense Ned's joyful mood through their bond.
Idan wasn't too worried about Ned.
He was most worried about himself and Arabel.
Ever since Idan left the central region, he had an uneasy feeling. This feeling haunted him.
Because of this premonition, Idan didn't delay any longer. Seeing that her master was in a hurry to leave the city, Coco began showing him the shortest and least crowded route. This greatly facilitated and accelerated his journey.
"Coco is simply amazing!" Idan mentally admired the abilities of his little companion.
Coco had previously demonstrated her amazing talents when they penetrated the underground level of Erza's mansion. Somehow, she not only detected traps, spells, and formations, but also rendered them ineffective. In addition, she easily recognized the presence of other creatures nearby, which helped them avoid danger.
Idan suspected that the ability to detect creatures was related to her unique ability to become invisible to everyone. Perhaps it is this ability that warns Coco about the presence of living beings around.
Idan was making rapid progress through the winding alleys when he suddenly received a notification about an unread message on the Lovers' Plate. He briefly took a break to look inside his spatial storage and was surprised to discover sudden changes.
The spatial storage was divided into two levels: upper and lower. There was nothing on the upper level except for the guests present, including Arabel. But on the lower level were all their belongings, hidden from view from above.
"Dan?" — Idan heard Arabel's voice while he was examining the interior of the spatial storage.
"Yes, I'm here," he replied.
"I tried to summon you using Soul Force and mental link, but I failed. That's why I had to resort to the help of the Lovers' Plate," Arabel said.
"It seems that spatial storage imposes some restrictions on ourselves. Although I feel like I can leave this place at any moment, I cannot observe what is happening outside using my Soul Force."
Idan listened attentively to Arabel while following the direction Coco was pointing in.
"It's good that we have a Lovers' Plate! With its help, we will be able to communicate, even if one of us ends up inside the spatial storage," Idan said optimistically.
"Yes, it is," Arabel agreed, and then, remembering why she had called Idan, continued:
"As it is, I called you to tell you that Essora insists that we release her."
"Does Essora want to leave?" asked Idan.
"Yes," Arabel confirmed.
Arabel didn't like having outsiders in their spatial storage, especially someone as powerful as Essora.
Her very presence shortened the residence time of living creatures many times more than a bunch of Gold-ranked creatures.
Arabel, like Idan, had the opportunity to release Essora from the spatial storage, but for some reason, looking at her, Arabel did not feel like letting her go. At the same time, Essora was insistent on her release, and Arabel decided to discuss the matter with Idan.
"Phew..." sighed Idan.
"Belle, please do whatever it takes: tie her up, put on a slave collar, whatever you think is necessary, but don't let Essora leave the spatial storage," Idan said firmly, surprising Arabel with his determination.
"Why?" Arabel decided to ask.
"There are many reasons, Belle," Idan replied.
"First of all, I am absolutely sure that Erza already knows about Essora's appearance in the Trading House. In the end, she entered there openly, in full view of everyone, accompanied by guards."
Arabel, standing next to Essora and listening attentively to Idan's words, glanced at the two guards from the Trading House and nodded, agreeing with his opinion.
"Erza is not stupid, and she will understand that something is wrong with Essora. When she checks on Essora's younger brother and discovers his absence, she will immediately suspect that Essora has betrayed her. And as soon as Essora leaves the spatial storage, Erza, unlike you, Belle, will immediately find out her location."
Idan turned right around the next corner at Coco's direction, paused briefly, and continued: "The second reason follows from the first. If she comes out and leaves, I'm sure we'll never see her again."
Arabel turned her gaze to Essora, who was standing next to her, waiting. Then her gaze fell on Essora's younger brother, a boy about twelve years old, who was hiding behind his older sister.
Watching the boy cling to his sister, Arabel realized that if Essora left now, the boy would probably never see his sister again.
Remembering the story Idan had told her about the fate of the two, and realizing that they had no one left but each other, Arabel fully supported Idan's suggestion not to let Essora go.
"It may seem selfish, Belle, but I also have an older sister. If I were in this boy's place, I wouldn't want my sister to leave forever after the meeting," Idan shared his opinion.
"If Essora leaves, the boy will be all alone. He doesn't have any close people anymore. It will be difficult for us to defeat Erza's influence on him, and we are unlikely to be able to replace his older sister. Therefore, if possible, I would not like to separate these two. Moreover, we need him, and we need him to trust us if we want to unleash the full power of the artifact. And Essora's presence is necessary to achieve this goal."
"Okay, you can leave this matter to me," Arabel agreed.
"How are you doing?" she asked, having solved the problem with Essora, and moved on to the topic that interested her the most.
"Coco is back and is leading me to the portal. I'm already close to the outskirts of the city and will leave it soon if nothing happens," Idan shared his current situation. "But I have a bad feeling about this. It feels like something is going to happen."
"Belle, ask Essora and Milla about the other portals, their locations, and anything else you can find out," Idan asked. "I'm afraid relying on just one portal is a big mistake."
