Chapter 363: A conversation with Essora
Essora immediately noticed how the young man's mood had changed dramatically.
She didn't know much about Idan and Arabel. Erza did not share with her information about what happened on the other side of the portal. Therefore, Essora was unaware that Cleoruo was no longer alive and that she had lost the artifact, which was now in the hands of Idan and Arabel.
Essora found herself in a difficult position. She couldn't directly ask the young man about the artifact in front of the guards of the Trading House. It would be a mistake to make it clear that one of the prisoners, who is due to be sold at auction in a couple of days, has an artifact with him.
Besides, her current actions were already beyond Erza's orders. If she found out that Essora was here and what exactly she was looking for, she would have a hard time.
Idan, waiting for Essora's answer, also noticed something unusual about her. However, unlike him, she didn't show any emotion at all.
Knowing that Idan couldn't waste time on pointless staring, he decided to take a chance and send Essora a message through a mental link, hinting to her that he knew what she was looking for.
"I know what you're looking for, Miss Essora," Idan said. "And I also know that you have the blood of the Grandia Royal Family in your veins."
It was only after those words that he finally saw any reaction on her face.
Suddenly, the world for Idan lost its colors, becoming black and white.
To his horror, he found that he could not move.
"What's going on?" he said to himself.
Everything around him froze, as if someone had stopped time, except for his consciousness.
"I stopped time in this room, leaving only our minds intact," Essora's voice echoed in his head.
"Stop time?" wondered Idan.
"Yes, but not for long," replied Essora. "So you have the artifact?"
"Do you mean the Sphere of Secret Concealment?" asked Idan, still in a state of deep surprise at what was happening.
After hearing the name of the artifact, Essora was convinced that this young man had it. Moreover, she realized that the young man had probably already established a connection with the artifact, just as Cleoruo had done.
However, it wasn't until later that she realized.
The guy had a slave collar around his neck, which was supposed to block his ability to use force. Not to mention the special power these outsiders possessed, the collar suppressed all kinds of power, including those possessed by dark creatures from this world. Therefore, the guy should not have had the opportunity not only to talk to her now, but also to use the artifact.
Essora was sure that the guy standing in front of her was now using the Sphere of Secret Concealment, otherwise she would not have felt its presence.
"How can you use your power with a slave collar around your neck?" Essora asked Idan.
Instead of answering, Idan asked a counter question: "What do you think?"
He didn't want to reveal the truth to her right away.
Essora immediately realized that this guy didn't want to talk. However, she was sure that even though he was pretending to be a prisoner, he could still use his abilities.
Essora assumed that Idan was currently using the artifact to hide something from prying eyes. This assumption also made it clear to her that Idan would not give her the artifact if she just asked him for it.
In her current position, it was too risky to try to take the artifact by force.
Essora has decided to abandon the attempt to return the artifact, at least for the time being.
However, before she could undo her ability, she unexpectedly received a message from this guy.
"Miss Essora, why, being from another world like me, do you serve Erza?" the young man asked.
Hearing this question, Essora frowned.
"Are you serving her of your own volition or because she has subjugated you?" Idan continued to ask his questions.
Of course, Essora had her reasons to serve Erza, but she didn't do it of her own free will. However, Essora not only did not want to share this information with the young man, but she was also not in the mood for such a conversation.
"Or is the reason for your loyalty due to your younger brother?"
Essora was not only surprised, but also expressed strong emotions for the first time in a long time.
"How? How did you know about my younger brother?" Her voice was no longer so calm and indifferent.
Idan detected a note of concern and threat in the question.
"I met your younger brother under Erza's mansion," Idan replied, not hiding his truth.
After hearing this answer, Essora did not immediately believe his words.
In her mind, this guy was currently inside the cage under the Trading House, and he had no way to get under Erza's mansion.
Even she couldn't get in there unnoticed. How could she believe that this guy was capable of something that was beyond not only her, but also many others whose loved ones were there?
However, remembering that he could use his power now and possessed that artifact, she began to gradually get rid of her doubts.
After all, it was for this that she sought to return this artifact. An artifact that could not only suppress connections, but also mask them.
"Prove it!" demanded Essora from Idan. "Prove that you really met my little brother, and not just lying to me!"
Idan sighed to himself after hearing Essora's words. He realized that she didn't believe him. However, he already had an answer ready.
"Sora Grandia. That's your little brother's name. He is 12 years old, has short blue hair and eyes of the same color," Idan said, which caused a storm of emotions in Essora.
She couldn't believe what she had just heard. Everything this guy had told her was true. And a foreigner like him couldn't have found out about all this if he hadn't met her younger brother in person.
But even as she realized this, she couldn't quite believe Idan's words.
"Swear!" demanded Essoru, remembering the guy's affection for his girlfriend. "Swear on your girlfriend's life that you're not lying to me!"
"Does she still not trust me after what I said?" wondered Idan.
Realizing that there was no lie in his words, and at the same time hearing the threat against Arabel in Essora's voice, Idan understood that she would not be able to do anything against them if he revealed that her younger brother was now inside their spatial storage.
Therefore, Idan spoke without hesitation:
"I swear."
