Chapter 715: Forbidden Class
Outside the throne room, the ground suddenly shook. Dust rained from the buildings, cracks spreading along the walls like veins.
The soldiers froze mid-battle. Even the undead staggered for a moment as the castle trembled violently, as if something inside was tearing it apart.
Adrian slashed down a demon and glanced at the castle with a frown on his face. "The hell is going on in there…?"
"It's clearly a battle between a human and a demon," Ria, the priestess, claimed. "If I'm not wrong, Nox was the only one who headed that way."
"Against who?" Theo asked, sidestepping a demonic claw and driving his blade into its heart.
At first, nobody answered. The only person they knew who could push Nox to this level was either Number Two or Noir himself—at least to their knowledge.
However, they were all aware that Noir was currently away, which meant there was a high possibility Nox was facing the Number Two man of the Flaming Rose organization.
The soldiers exchanged tense looks. For the first time since stepping through the Sovereign Gate, the confidence in their eyes wavered.
"Wha- what if…" one of the soldiers stammered, but Adrian cut him off with a glare.
"Nothing will happen to Nox. If there's anyone we should be cautious against, it's the one they call Noir."
Although he projected a calm appearance on the outside, deep down he was unsettled.
He'd seen Nox fight. He knew how overwhelming the man could be. But the tremors—they weren't ordinary. Whoever was inside that throne room wasn't just strong. They were monsters on a completely different level.
BOOM!
Another violent shockwave blasted out from the throne room. This time, half of the castle wall blew apart like it was nothing.
The force didn't stop there—it spread everywhere, knocking over towers and smashing through rows of buildings. Soldiers screamed as they were thrown around. Demons were crushed under the rubble.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Dust and smoke billowed across the battlefield, covering everything in a thick haze. The air was hard to breathe, stinging their lungs and eyes. Both demons and humans squinted, raising their arms to shield their faces.
Adrian clenched his jaw, but even he had to step back as the pressure hit them again. The fight inside wasn't just a clash anymore—it felt like a storm tearing the entire capital apart piece by piece.
Eve raised her hand, stabilizing a collapsing wall of bones with necrotic energy. Her eyes didn't leave the castle.
"Number Two isn't inside there… it's someone else," she suddenly said.
"Huh… not Number Two? Then who could be this strong to push him to this level?" Adrian exclaimed in shock.
When the soldiers heard this, they began whispering amongst themselves.
"What if he can't win?"
"We should help him."
"No, if we rush in now we'll only get in the way!"
"Then what do we do? Just stand here while the castle collapses on him?"
Suddenly, everyone stopped talking, their eyes snapping toward the far distance where a lone figure emerged.
Eve's eyes narrowed, as did Adrian's, Nathan's, and Boris's.
They were the strongest Awakened present here, which made them far more sensitive than the others.
From miles away, they could already sense that this person was trouble.
"Who is he?"
"That aura…"
As the figure drew closer, even the weaker Awakened began to feel the oppressive energy.
Finally, the person came into view. It wasn't some unknown stranger or Noir himself—it was Number Two.
"So she was right… if he's here, then who is Nox fighting?" A brief look of concern passed through Serena's and Akira's eyes.
Nyx was also confused. Whoever Nox was facing was no joke.
Was it a powerful demon lord? She quickly dismissed that thought. After battling demons for months, she'd realized there were only a handful above Level 100.
Most of them had already been killed, and even if one showed up now, she was sure Nox could easily one-shot them without too much trouble.
"Hendrix," Wendy suddenly said, and all eyes snapped to her.
In that moment, everything clicked. After the encounter at Armstrong Dutch, they had almost forgotten about him.
"It makes sense now," Nyx thought as she glared at the others. "Still, everyone remains here. Knowing Nox, he would be pissed if we abandoned the task."
"But—" Serena tried to protest.
"No buts!"
At the front, there was a tense face-off between Number Two and Eve. The battle was suspended temporarily. The demons stood still, waiting for Number Two to make the next move.
"Traitor," Number Two finally broke the silence. "I thought the demons could be a trustworthy race. It seems I gave your kind too much credit."
"My allegiance has always been with the humans," Eve replied, dark energy slowly surrounding her. "Besides, I'm an Awakened. When the Flaming Rose succeeds in getting rid of the human Awakened, you'll turn against me one day."
Seeing that Eve was activating her skills, Number Two nodded. "It seems you've already made your choice."
He paused, his gaze tightening, then in a growl-like voice murmured, "However, you shouldn't have put your filthy strings on my daughter."
Everyone froze. Murmurs rippled through the soldiers.
"Daughter…?"
"Wait… is he talking about the girl—Kira?!"
"Well, you should be glad Nox didn't kill her." A provocative smirk slowly curled across her lips.
"Bitch!" A thick vein bulged on Number Two's temple. Instantly, all the blood on the battlefield surged unnaturally, crawling toward him as if dragged by invisible chains. Soldiers stumbled back, horrified expressions on their faces.
"Blood manipulation…" Eve whispered, her expression darkening. "Bunch of hypocrites."
"And here I thought the Order of Flaming Rose loathed Awakened," Nathan clicked his tongue. "Who would've thought the second-in-command is none other than an Awakened himself… and not just any, but one of the forbidden Bloodmancer class."
