Chapter 705: A Traitor
Nox stared at his accumulated shop points with a smile on his face. All this while, he hadn't been hunting monsters just to grow stronger—he was also farming shop points.
The shop points were rewarded based on kill count. No matter what he killed—even if it was a bug—he would receive shop points.
Unfortunately, he couldn't use the skill right now, as he needed to supervise the citizens of the southern region and make sure they safely got to the west.
At first, the people of the south were hesitant about passing through the gate. Some of them even thought it led to a dimension filled with monsters, but Nox convinced them.
"This is a special skill of mine, and it will easily teleport you to the western region." Nox explained.
"When did you get this skill?" Eve asked, finding the skill suspiciously similar to what Noir had used to return back to the demon realm.
She had been with Nox and also knew about his unique ability—however, he hadn't come across Noir yet, so ho—
It was at that moment that her eyes flashed with a gleam of realization.
"Yes, I copied it when I was inside the red-skinned girl," he said.
Adrian was quite lost, not knowing what they were talking about. And neither Nox nor Eve bothered to explain to him.
He glanced at the southerners, but they were still hesitant, which made a small frown appear on his face.
These people were unlike the people of the west. There, he had fame, and all the towns knew him due to the tournament years back.
It could be said that he was a celebrity. However, over here, he was a stranger—just one with power.
With a sigh, just to prove a point, Nox stepped through the gate and returned.
"See? Nothing happened to me. Stop being fearful—we won't hurt you," he said.
And finally, the duke took the first step and walked through the gate.
Seeing that nothing happened, after a while, one after the other, they stepped through the gate.
In a couple of hours, the entire south was evacuated.
Nox had set the location of the gate exit right at the outskirts of the Cromwell Barony. That way, it would be much easier to integrate them into the town.
"Fast," Jack said, coming out from the war tent. "I had expected you guys to take at least a day."
"Well, just like Ria had said, the south was really small. Even the biggest town was just the size of the Barony."
Nathan and the Duke of the South greeted each other. The two seemed to have known each other for a while.
Nox left the two old men to themselves while he slowly slipped out of the scene.
---
Some time later...
He arrived in his room in the Cromwell Manor. Now that the immediate threat of the demons was controlled to a certain level, Nox decided to take a little rest.
When he arrived, the first person he saw was Camila—Serana's mom.
"Aunt Camila."
"Good day, young master Nox." Camila displayed a warm smile on her face.
Seeing the smile, Nox felt something snap within him, and he couldn't help but imagine if he had not arrived early and his loved ones had died.
Seeing him slightly dazed, Camila asked, "Young master?"
Nox snapped out of his thoughts and returned the smile. "I just missed you."
"Oh." She smiled warmly.
After that awkward conversation, Nox quickly slammed the door to his room and sat on the bed as he pulled up his system screen.
It was time to use these shop points to empower himself and his friends.

Meanwhile, in the royal capital...
Number Two was pacing back and forth with an anxious look on his face. He was the only one present here.
There weren't many demon lords in the capital—after all, there was someone who was in charge.
Eve.
And right now, the reason Number Two was pacing with such anxiety was because of this person.
"With that many forces, she should have conquered the west already. Why is she taking this long?"
It was already the third day, and there was still no news.
"Hey… she's your sister, right? What do you think happened to her?" he suddenly turned to the only other person inside the room with him.
Hendrix.
Hendrix, the white-haired demon, rested lazily on the seat, his fake mask—a replica of the special mask he had worn after getting his mana lungs crushed by Eve—still placed on his face.
This mask didn't have any effect like his previous one. It was just a stylish option he had chosen.
"We're not really that close," Hendrix said calmly. "In fact, we've never talked—not even once. If we weren't related through the demon emperor, we might as well be strangers."
Number Two narrowed his eyes. Why did it seem as if Hendrix was simply pouring out everything he had bottled up in his heart?
Well, this wasn't the answer he was looking for.
However, even before he could speak, Hendrix continued in a serious voice. "Although I don't know much about her, I'm very certain of one thing…" he said. "She won't attack the Barony."
"What makes you think so? If she didn't intend to attack the Barony, then why did she ask for half of the demon force?"
"She has a soft spot for that place," Hendrix said. "And especially for that boy—Nox."
Then he shrugged, walking up to the window that overlooked what used to be the castle. "Of course, I could be wrong. Maybe she changed. Besides, going against the demon emperor is no different from seeking a death wish."
Number Two didn't refute this... after all, the one who had struck the alliance with the demons was the Supreme Leader of the Flaming Rose—an equally terrifying existence.
Just then, a member of the Flaming Rose burst into the room, sweating profusely.
"Any news?" Number Two quickly asked.
"Your suspicions were right," the person reported. "Something indeed happened to Mistress Eve… she has joined forces with the enemy!"
