Chapter 441: Chapter 441: Tohru Dies, the Mask Emerges
"No!" When Tohru sensed that the Shadow Devourer Soldier had been completely killed by Robert, he was instantly thrown into a panic. His only means of somewhat contending with Robert was gone. With his own strength, he probably couldn't withstand a single move from Robert. After all, he had seen just how terrifying Robert was after transforming.
But after his initial outcry, Tohru stood there dumbfounded, without any action. He didn't attempt to escape or turn into a shadow to hide. It was as if he was waiting for Robert's arrival.
Robert didn't keep Tohru waiting for long. As Tohru stood there silently, lost in thought, Robert appeared beside him, smiling. "Honestly, I'm a bit surprised. It would be more normal for the old you not to run, but now, you're just standing here? That's not like you at all!"
"I'm sorry for disappointing you before," Tohru responded, snapping out of his daze. He took a deep breath, looked at Robert, and said earnestly, "To be honest, I didn't expect that when I truly despaired, I would find my original self again. All those times I ran were not the actions of a true warrior. Now that you're here, give me one last chance to reclaim my warrior's honor!"
"Alright," Robert nodded, smiling. He didn't believe Tohru's words because Tohru had previously shown that he was not to be trusted. However, Robert didn't care what Tohru was thinking. As long as he killed Tohru, everything would be resolved. There was no need to worry about any schemes Tohru might have, as he couldn't escape the Mirror Dimension.
Tohru's heart trembled upon hearing Robert's response. Clearly, Tohru hadn't genuinely changed his mindset because of the dire situation. He was merely hoping that by presenting himself as a true warrior, Robert might view him more favorably and give him a chance at survival.
But now Tohru knew his plan had failed. He had no choice but to fight Robert.
With a hum, as Tohru remained motionless, Robert's eyes flashed with impatience. A powerful aura erupted from Robert, sending Tohru flying.
Robert, who had just experienced an exhilarating battle, had no regard for Tohru. Especially now, with Robert still in his Great Ape Power: Wrath form, having only deactivated the Berserk Fist, the remaining fierce and violent aura was enough to heavily injure Tohru.
With a hiss, after being blasted away, Tohru realized he had no way out. Robert would not spare him because of his words. It was either obediently wait to die or fight to the death.
At this point, Tohru decided that even if he died, he would make sure Robert paid a price!
With a roar, Tohru's body began to swell as dark energy poured into him, making his form grotesque. His hair turned from red to black, drifting in the air, with dark energy dissipating with each movement.
Tohru was going all out, using every bit of his power, not only draining his life force but also the power of the Shadow Mask. Robert could see that as Tohru's aura grew stronger, the Shadow Mask began to crack under the strain of the dark energy.
"Good! This is more like it!" Robert nodded in satisfaction. Although Tohru was not as strong as the previous Shadow Devourer Soldier, his current strength was still acceptable. A worthy opponent to kill with his own hands.
In the next moment, Tohru rushed towards Robert. Dark energy condensed into a terrifying dark light that shot towards Robert, but it was deflected with a single punch, turning it into a ball that crashed into the ground and caused a strange explosion, swallowing up the surroundings and leaving a large, ominous black pit.
"This is interesting. The previous Shadow Devourer Soldier was like a warrior, but you're more like a mage. Finally, I can engage in some ki blast exchanges in such a suitable environment," Robert said, a hint of excitement in his voice as he fired a ki blast towards Tohru.
With a loud explosion, Tohru was sent flying, but a barrier of dark energy protected him from harm. However, a simple ki blast was never Robert's main attack. Without a worthy opponent to counter him, Robert could unleash his full power without restraint.
With each successive ki blast, the explosions echoed through the Mirror Dimension, causing massive destruction and raising clouds of dust. But this time, Robert broke the rule of "smoke without harm." Underneath the dust, Tohru's dark barrier shattered repeatedly. The Shadow Mask, under continuous assault, finally broke apart.
With a crack, as the Shadow Mask shattered, Tohru lost the power from the Dark Dimension, reverting to a super soldier, albeit an exceptionally strong one. Yet, in this battle, such strength was negligible. Even as possibly the greatest super soldier ever, Tohru lacked the plot armor of a protagonist and couldn't survive against Robert's relentless attacks. His body was utterly destroyed, leaving no trace behind.
Thus ended the tumultuous life of Tohru, far stronger than his original destiny, yet ultimately doomed. Even in his final moments, he couldn't utter a last word, leaving behind no regrets or reflections on his path or his once pure approach.
With a hum, even after Tohru's complete demise, the Shadow Mask persisted. Despite being shattered multiple times by Robert's attacks, it stubbornly remained. The Dark Dimension continually supplied it with dark energy, sustaining the life of General Minta, whose consciousness only returned after Tohru's death.
Previously, General Minta had tried to take over Tohru's body, attacking the injured Tohru. But General Minta underestimated Tohru's warrior spirit. Despite his deviation, Tohru's resolve was firm. Ultimately, Tohru regained control of his body and harnessed the power of the Shadow Mask, embarking on his path of revenge and power consolidation.
Now, with Tohru dead, General Minta realized the gravity of Tohru's actions. He knew Robert's strength from Tohru's residual memories and understood he couldn't contend with Robert. Cursing Tohru internally, General Minta struggled to find a way out.
"Master! I surrender! I surrender!" Initially, General Minta planned to wait for Robert to stop attacking before trying to communicate. But as time passed and the Shadow Mask shattered repeatedly, with the Dark Dimension continually restoring it, he couldn't wait any longer. Robert's stamina far exceeded General Minta's expectations, showing no sign of depletion. Robert could continue his attacks for days without tiring.
Unable to endure the endless torment, General Minta decided to surrender, hoping Robert would spare him.
"Hmm? Tohru is dead?" Robert, enjoying the relentless attacks, hadn't noticed the change in the dark energy below. Only when he heard General Minta's voice did he realize Tohru was dead, pausing his attack as he prepared to deal with the Shadow Mask.
"Thank you! Thank you!" General Minta appeared, expressing gratitude to Robert. He had no intention of escaping, understanding that he couldn't leave the Mirror Dimension and hoping to negotiate with Robert.
To General Minta, he hadn't personally wronged Robert. Although Tohru used the Dark Dimension's power and controlled the Shadow Soldiers, it wasn't his fault. General Minta was even surprised by Tohru's ambition to devour all the Earth's shadows, something he had never considered.
"Saiyan, I'm sorry that the one who stole my power provoked you and harmed many Earthlings. I apologize and hope you will give me a chance to live," General Minta pleaded humbly, aware that his life was in Robert's hands. Despite the Dark Dimension's continuous support, he didn't want to endure further torment, fearing the Dark Dimension might abandon him or his consciousness might collapse from the repeated destruction and rebirth.
"Honestly, I don't care whether Tohru's actions were your fault or not," Robert said, shaking his head slightly. "I'm just curious how you keep restoring your mask's form here. This place shouldn't belong to Earth, so how is the Dark Dimension's power coming through?"
"The Mirror Dimension doesn't isolate dimensional energies. I've drawn on many dimensional powers myself. Complete isolation would prevent me from using certain energies," the Ancient One explained, appearing before General Minta could respond.
