Chapter 152: The Decisive Victory and Decision
"I'll check..." Upon hearing Martha's words, Kara hesitated briefly, then began scanning her surroundings in search of Clark's possible location.
Kara wasn't aimlessly searching for Clark. Based on what Martha had just mentioned, Kara suspected Clark might have gone to confront the Martian Manhunter.
Although the Martian Manhunter had fled too quickly for Kara to see where he disappeared, she remembered the general direction.
Given the Martian Manhunter and Clark's strength, if they were indeed fighting, the disturbance would likely be greater than the skirmish between Robert and the Martian Manhunter.
Following this clue, Kara hoped to locate Clark.
Unfortunately, Kara was unaware that Clark and the Martian Manhunter had taken their battle to outer space, even reaching the asteroid belt and destroying numerous celestial bodies, still engaged in combat.
As for the distance, it wasn't far, just over a hundred thousand kilometers.
After thoroughly searching her visual range several times, Kara still couldn't find Clark.
"Sorry, Martha, Jonathan, I couldn't find Clark. But you don't have to worry; Clark is very strong..." After retracting her gaze, Kara reassured the Kents.
"Can you tell us what happened? Was Robert targeted? How did he get so injured?" The Kents exchanged glances, then probed Kara for answers.
"In our eyes, this might seem like a severe injury, but to Robert, it might just be considered a normal battle wound." Kara explained, briefly recounting Robert's battle with the Martian Manhunter.
"So, you're saying an alien-like figure is after you guys?" Jonathan's expression turned serious as he listened to Kara's story.
"Not exactly after us, more like after the talisman. It just so happened the talisman was with our classmate, and we couldn't just stand by..." Kara sighed softly.
"Sigh, it seems you'll eventually be exposed. Are you really prepared for that?" Jonathan also sighed. He had considered the possibility of Clark and Robert's abilities being exposed back when the Brotherhood sent an assassin, which now seemed overdue.
"You don't have to worry about that. Robert has thought about this. Normally, Clark or I would guard the house, but if Clark and Robert's identities were exposed, we have other places to go!" Kara shared one of Robert's plans after a moment of silence.
The "other place" Kara referred to was the wilderness island where Kong resides, which Robert had discovered human remnants on.
If external threats emerged against the Kents and the Danvers, relocating both families to the wilderness island was considered. Robert had cleared an area there, free of wild creatures, making it suitable for habitation, at least temporarily.
Clark agreed with this plan, believing the Kents would not object, especially since Jonathan had mentioned relocating after the Brotherhood assassination attempt.
Hearing Kara's words, the Kents were somewhat relieved but remained concerned about Robert's injuries and Clark's whereabouts.
Although they knew Robert was no ordinary human, his severe injuries still alarmed them. If not for Kara's repeated assurances of Robert's self-healing, the Kents might have insisted on hospital care.
Robert woke up the next day, not fully healed but significantly better. His abdominal wound needed a few more days to heal completely, preventing him from eating normally. Thus, Robert began using his energy to simulate the power of the Horse Talisman to accelerate his healing.
While his injuries had not fully healed, Robert's combat effectiveness and energy had fully recovered. The battle had provided him with another opportunity for improvement, which he saw as the fastest way to enhance his abilities.
Seeing Robert awake and energetic, despite not being able to eat, reassured the Kents.
However, their concern shifted back to Clark, who had been gone for an extended period without any signs of return.
Clark's battle with the Martian Manhunter had dragged on. Although Clark was slightly stronger, he couldn't decisively overpower the Martian Manhunter, leading to a prolonged struggle.
It wasn't until three days later that Clark managed to send the Martian Manhunter crashing into Ceres, with no movement from the Martian for a while.
Ceres thought its end had come, but to its relief, Clark didn't pursue the Martian Manhunter onto its surface. Clark sensed the Martian Manhunter's injuries were severe enough to require significant recovery time, giving Robert some vindication without resorting to killing. Clark, realizing the Martian Manhunter wasn't inherently evil, just overly curious about the talisman, hoped he would keep his distance in the future.
"Hoping you'll stay away from them in the future shouldn't be hard with your abilities," Clark communicated telepathically to the Martian Manhunter.
"Given that kid's penchant for battle, you're bound to be exposed sooner or later," the Martian Manhunter responded after a pause.
"As long as we don't encounter someone like you, his disguise is quite effective. Until now, his identity has never been exposed," Clark replied, his form disappearing into the vastness of space.
"If a more attention-grabbing figure emerges, fewer will notice him. Moreover, it seems I should find something to occupy myself with..."
Clark recalled the prophecy of the Loom of Fate and Tony Stark's rise as Iron Man, pondering a new course of action.
