Chapter 297: Major Family Events III: Night of the Witch (Part 12)_2

But in less than an instant, the dark red magic power beams fired by the four turrets shattered everything. A deafening roar ensued, and countless pieces of ice spread like a torrential downpour, accompanied by a frigid gale howling across everyone's cheeks.

However, the very next moment, Lilai crushed her origin card [Ice Mountain Fall].

Suddenly, half of the Witch's Night stage was overshadowed by an unexpected shadow, and as everyone looked up, a colossal iceberg appeared in the sky, comparable in size to the one the Titanic had collided with.

Then Lilai swept her right hand downward, and the iceberg plummeted towards the War Witch.

Amidst a thunderous rumble like roaring thunder, the iceberg plunged rapidly through the atmosphere.

The War Witch's face changed slightly; her four Floating Gun Turrets instantly fused into one huge cannon held in her hands, and pulling the trigger, a light beam with a radius of a full hundred meters was fired into the heavens in an instant.

"Your people really don't beat around the bush," the Doll Witch remarked to Xizi Yue.

"Isn't that the truth..." Xizi Yue replied.

"But you haven't been in a rush to strike at me, because you know I won't die unless all the Dolls are destroyed. Yet, as long as the Witch's Night exists, my Dolls can be resurrected infinitely, no matter how many times you destroy them, it will be in vain. Just like those Magical Girls struggling in this city, they face the same predicament as you," the Doll Witch said, "And then... the Envious Witch is about to be born, and you can't stop any of this from happening. You can only watch helplessly as this city, and even the whole world, is leveled to the ground. This, this is the inevitable conclusion."

Xizi Yue remained silent, the Jade Zodiac giant beasts undulated behind her, rippling like a sea of jade.

After a long while, she slowly spoke: "What a pity... I have one more trick up my sleeve."

In that instant, a tremendous commotion suddenly arose from within the "Envious Witch Statue" at the center of the Witch's Night.

"What a pity," Xizi Yue said, "I have one more trick up my sleeve."

She then glanced sideways at the statue, her eyes as still as a deep ravine.

"Has the altar... been breached?"

The Doll Witch murmured to herself.

Her expression was blank, as if her face lacked the muscles to convey emotion, and her entire being was as pale and insubstantial as her white eyes and white hair.

"What is the Lost Witch doing?"

Xizi Yue said: "It looks like your carefully planned ritual has been interrupted."

This time, the Doll Witch fell silent, her expression unreadable, her white hair fluttering under the blood-red sky.

In that moment, Lilai's iceberg plummeted down like an atomic bomb explosion, the whole world enveloped in a moment of oblivion, followed by a roar that could shatter the atmosphere, screaming throughout the world. Next, the War Witch's light beam shattered the iceberg, and like a blizzard, it howled towards the city, the stage of the Witch's Night momentarily covered by a flurry of violent ice shards.

The three giant Dolls guarding the Doll Witch opened their huge jaws and spewed forth a dark red light, forming a barrier around her, shielding her from the ice shards flying through the air like razor blades.

"Zodiac, Dragon."

Xizi Yue commanded the Jade Zodiac behind her, a verdant dragon contorted and soared upward, its massive jaws roaring as it rose, the sharp ice shards flung into the air instantly freezing in mid-air, soon losing momentum and clattering down to the ground.

By now, using a small Doll, the Doll Witch had clearly seen the situation inside the statue. She asked:

"Sloth Witch, is she your person?"

"I don't know her."

As the two spoke, more incomprehensible noises emanated from the enormous statue at the center of the Witch's Night. A shrill howl descended first, and then the entire statue began to collapse.

The "face" of the Envious Witch on top of the statue began to twist, opening up a crevice.

Hearing this commotion, Xizi Yue and the Doll Witch turned to look.

They saw a girl in a grey-blue dress rising from within the statue, slowly floating towards the sky, her ash-like hem fluttering against the blood-red canvas. After reaching a hundred meters above the statue, the girl slowly lifted her face and grabbed onto a giant metal sniper rifle.

Then, her gaze lowered, looking down high above the entire Witch's Night, her pupils flickering with a grey-blue flame, as if reflecting the entire world.

"Xiao Ni?!"

Lilai was a bit startled, her icy blue pupils slightly constricted.

"How could this be..."

Udina clenched the light blade in her hand, her gaze shimmering faintly.

"As expected..."

Gazing at the silhouette of the Ember Witch, Xizi Yue whispered softly.

....

....

One minute ago, inside the statue space.

The classical round table trembled coldly, the dim light of the candles flickering erratically. As the altar of the Envious Witch collapsed, a corner of the ceiling in the space abruptly cracked open, spilling light inside.

Ke Mingye removed his helmet, his face bathing in the blood-red sunlight.

He looked at the figure on the altar, and said incoherently, "It's me... Bai Zini, I've come to take you away."

However, the witch before him didn't respond, merely looking up at the blood-red sky, silent.

She... seemed to be yearning for a higher place.

"Kobe, what's going on..." The Sloth Witch inquired, but no answer came to her mind.

She glanced up at the Ember Witch slowly ascending from the ruins of the altar, then at Lan Ou's back, who had already taken off his helmet, whispering something to her. From behind, the Sloth Witch couldn't see his true face.

Ke Mingye stood still, his silhouette pale like a cutout.

"We should leave." Red Hat said softly to Lan Ou, looking at the Ember Witch, "We can't stop her... Senior Ash's eyes no longer see us."

"Why..."

Ke Mingye murmured to himself.

"Perhaps... that's just how witches are." The Christmas dress girl lowered her eyelashes.

Hearing Red Hat's words, the Sloth Witch couldn't help but retort:

"It sounds like you have some misconceptions about witches. Witches still have basic rationality, they wouldn't be so heedless, like someone possessed... I mean, she might just need a good venting before she can come back to her senses, after all, many magical girls have gone through this sort of thing when they first become witches."

Yawning, the Sloth Witch smacked her lips and muttered, "Whatever... it's none of my business, I'm out. You guys take care."

With that, she slowly walked behind the giant doors of the statue space, her figure quickly swallowed by the shadows.

"Venting..."

Ke Mingye mumbled, putting on his helmet while watching the Ember Witch ascend into the sky.

"We really need to go, it'll be too late if we don't leave now."

The Christmas dress girl said softly, retracting her gaze from the hem of the Ember Witch's skirt, then crushing an origin card, calling forth the Aurora Sled inside the collapsing statue space.

Instantly, the wind and snow roared indoors, brushing against Lan Ou's side profile. It took him a moment to look away, slowly turning his head to look at a corner of the space.

In that cramped, dark corner, Bai Yi clutched the headless body of Magical Girl Hong, still kneeling on the ground and screaming — but his voice was gone, leaving only a series of hoarse sobs.

"Bai Yi, it's time to go..." Lan Ou said softly.

Bai Yi did not respond, his eyes hollow.

It seemed Bai Yi had been affected by the Lost Witch's magic power, leading to a complete breakdown.

Seeing this, Red Hat moved towards him, dragging the silently howling Bai Yi away from the body of Magical Girl Hong, then kicked him into the sled, and reaching out to pull Lan Ou by the sleeve, dragging him onto the sled as well.

Then, the two reindeers raised their heads, gracefully shrieking, and with a sudden strike of their hooves, they surged forward accompanied by a whistling blizzard, towing the crimson sled into the shadows beyond the doors.
