Chapter 800: The Plague Descends_3
"Ladies and gentlemen, if you don't agree to this condition, then everyone will have to figure out a way on your own. My life may not seem worth much in the eyes of other countries, but it is still very important to me." Suming spoke indifferently upon seeing the representatives of various countries hesitating, then he sat down.
The Huaxia representative was also smiling at everyone.
"We, Russia, support." The Russian representative was the first to speak. Though having Huaxia take the lead was not as good as Russia leading, the relationship between Huaxia and Russia had always been good. If they had to choose a non-Russian country to lead, Russia would rather choose Huaxia.
"We agree as well, but we demand that the epidemic in Europe be controlled first." After a slight hesitation, the representatives of Britain and France also expressed their stance. Europe was a major epidemic area, with seventy to eighty percent of the world's patients being Europeans, and both countries had their own big troubles. Britain had just left the European Union and was struggling both economically and politically, while France was haunted by economic recession and the refugee crisis, and could not afford more turmoil.
Of the five major powers, the last to take a stand was the American Government. The American representative said irritably: "So this is just like another United Nations meeting, where all four permanent members of the Security Council have stated their positions. If the United States disagrees, would you all accuse us of not complying with the United Nations resolution?"
The Huaxia representative chuckled: "Certainly not. However, with the upcoming presidential election in your country, the priority now is to elect a good president. The 'minor issue' of dealing with The Garden of God can be left to us."
Everyone in the room, except for the American representative, smiled knowingly, while the American representative could only give a wry smile. It was unfortunate timing; President Odama's term was coming to an end and he was mostly occupied with arranging his post-retirement career, becoming a symbolic national figure; and the two presidential candidates were known as the worst in history, one crazy, the other weak. The nation was not so much choosing who was better, but there was a common understanding that whoever took office could not be worse. So within the next year or two, despite its strong military and economic prowess, the United States would lack a core leader, which would make it difficult to lead international affairs.
"Alright, we agree." The American representative shrugged.
After the meeting, the Huaxia representative sought out Suming.
"Su, take a seat." When alone, the senior leader was still very amiable, like an elder, holding a teacup and said: "Time is pressing, so I'll get straight to the point."
Seeing that the other party came to find him, Suming guessed that there was something to instruct him privately, and such directness was actually preferred. He nodded: "Leader, please speak."
"The state hopes that through this opportunity, we can eradicate The Garden of God once and for all!" The leader spoke with a solemn expression.
Suming frowned slightly: "But our previous attitude towards The Garden of God..." He didn't state it explicitly, but previously their stance towards The Garden of God was live and let live.
"I know what you're thinking. Our previous stance, plainly speaking, was like raising a tiger and inviting trouble," the leader slammed the teacup on the table, "Through this pandemic, the leadership has made up their mind. We cannot allow the existence of an organization that is capable of carrying out large-scale clandestine operations, no matter the cost. Even if we were to forsake their technology entirely, we must completely eliminate this organization. We are responsible for our people and future generations."
Suming nodded: "Indeed, the conflict within The Garden of God this time presents a rare opportunity."
"Yes, to not seize the will of heaven invites disaster. This time the higher-ups have made a firm decision and have authorized you to take full responsibility."
