Chapter 125: Xandar II
The bustling streets of Xandar remained oblivious to the escalating situation within the Nova Corps headquarters. Nova Prime, a composed and strategic leader, reviewed the threat report on her holographic display. The readings were unlike anything she'd seen before, particularly from the individual identified as "Dave." His power spiked beyond their typical threat scales, prompting immediate action.
"Prepare a containment team," Nova Prime ordered, her voice steady but firm. "I want reconnaissance drones on them immediately. Ensure they are monitored, but do not engage unless necessary. Let's confirm their intentions first."
Back on the streets, Dave, Thor, Diana, and Natasha casually explored the marketplace. The lively atmosphere kept them entertained. Diana admired the craftsmanship of alien jewelry, while Natasha scanned the area, her instincts as a spy making her naturally cautious. Thor, meanwhile, was drawn to a stall selling exotic drinks, and he couldn't resist trying a few.
"These Xandarian beverages are excellent," Thor declared, downing another cup. "They rival even the finest meads of Asgard!"
Dave chuckled, letting Thor enjoy his moment. "Just don't forget we have a destination, Thor," he reminded, his gaze sweeping the crowd. While he appeared relaxed, his heightened senses picked up on subtle movements—small drones hovering discreetly around them.
"They're watching us," Dave said softly, his voice calm yet serious. "But who are these people? I am pretty sure this is my first time in outer space" He then added confused, not knowing he is walking Nuke in tehri eyes-Alien nuke.
Natasha looked at him and asked "are you sure?"
Dave rolled his eyes in response as he said "Yeah, I am pretty sure"
Diana frowned. "Should we leave? I don't want to cause unnecessary trouble here."
Dave shook his head. "No need to panic. If they approach, we'll talk. We're not here to start a fight. Besides," he smirked slightly, "They are weak, if they try to act smart, they will just lose their Planet "
Thor laughed heartily, patting Dave on the shoulder. "That's the spirit! But I doubt they'll challenge us. They know better than to provoke a Prince of Asgard."
Dave nodded as he walked alongside Thor, while Diana and Natasha followed a short distance behind.
"He was joking, right?" Natasha asked, her voice uncertain.
Diana hesitated, a vivid memory surfacing in her mind—a scene where Dave had destroyed an entire kingdom after discovering they were selling children as slaves, In One Piece World.
"Maybe... Probably?" Diana replied, her tone unsure.
Natasha gave her a sharp look, then sighed and shook her head. "Great. Just great," she muttered, walking ahead with purposeful strides.
Diana watched her go, then followed silently, her thoughts lingering on the unpredictable nature of Dave's actions.
As they continued walking, a squad of Nova Corps officers appeared in the distance, their golden armor gleaming under Xandar's sun. They moved with precision, forming a loose perimeter around the group but keeping a respectful distance.
One officer, clearly the leader, stepped forward and addressed them. "Greetings, visitors. I am Commander Rhomann Dey of the Nova Corps. May I ask your purpose here on Xandar?"
Thor, ever the blunt one, stepped forward with his usual confidence. "We're here to rest and resupply before continuing our journey. No ill intentions, I assure you."
Rhomann nodded but glanced at Dave, his posture slightly tense. "And you, sir? You seem new here but since you are accompanying Lord Thor, you must be an distinguished guest. Nova Prime has requested a meeting with you to better welcome you here."
Dave smiled slightly, his presence calm but imposing. "If Nova Prime wishes to meet, I have no objection. Lead the way."
The officers exchanged cautious glances, but Rhomann gestured for them to follow. "This way, then. Let's not cause any alarm among the citizens."
As they were escorted to Nova Corps headquarters, Thor leaned toward Dave and muttered, "I once heard rumors that the Xandarians have technology to detect threat levels. Perhaps they've discovered what you are."
Dave raised his eyebrows at this and nodded thoughtfully. He kept all his templates active at all times—who knew when someone might launch an ambush? This was Marvel, after all. But now, it seemed his precautions had caused some unnecessary trouble.
Dave and the others continued to follow the Nova Corps officers. Before long, they arrived at the headquarters—a magnificent building that blended elegance with a clear display of power and authority.
As they entered the headquarters, the grandeur of the interior was even more striking. High ceilings, glowing panels of energy, and intricate designs blended advanced technology with artistic finesse. Uniformed officers moved with purpose, and holographic displays showed real-time activity across Xandar and its surrounding regions.
Rhomann led them to a private meeting room with a large, circular table surrounded by chairs. The walls were adorned with displays of historical records and significant events involving the Nova Corps.
"Please, have a seat," Rhomann said, gesturing toward the table.
Thor, Dave, Diana, and Natasha each took a seat while Rhomann stood at the head of the table.
"First, let me clarify," Rhomann began, his tone professional but wary, "Our scans have detected extraordinary energy levels from all of you, particularly you." He gestured toward Dave. "Xandar welcomes travelers from across the galaxy, but such immense power usually indicates a potential threat. It's our duty to investigate and ensure the safety of our citizens."
Thor chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "You're lucky it's him you're dealing with. Most others with this much power wouldn't bother sitting here politely."
Dave smirked but remained silent, observing the situation. Diana and Natasha exchanged glances, ready to act if necessary.
Rhomann continued, "We need to understand your intentions here on Xandar. Are you here for trade? Diplomacy? Or something else entirely?"
Dave finally spoke, his voice calm but firm. "We're here for a brief stop, nothing more. My intentions aren't hostile. If they were, I wouldn't be sitting here explaining myself."
Rhomann's eyes narrowed slightly as he evaluated Dave's words. "That's reassuring, but we have protocols to follow. You'll need to register your presence and provide information about your activities while on Xandar."
