- 'Anita,' Augustus addressed Stark by name, 'go to the fire escape, I'll deal with these two and catch up with you.
- Girls, can we make a deal? - Anita tried to make contact. - I understand someone paid for me to take me out. How about I pay you three times as much and you get out of here?
- Ha-ha-ha-ha, are you kidding me Stark!? - Scorpius laughed gleefully.
- We can't do that, if you value this man's life, then accept death willingly," the woman in the yellow suit said calmly. Her knuckles vibrated louder, gaining strength.
- Get out of here, Anita! - August shouted, pushing the buggy with Stark away from him and opening fire on the two supervillains.
Stark didn't hesitate any longer and pushed the buggy to the fire escape. The mercenary meanwhile discharged the pistol from his right hand at the two mercenaries. The left arm had not yet regenerated, it would take several hours to regenerate. The Scorpia shrieked menacingly, bending slightly, and the woman in the yellow uniform was not harmed in any way by the almost point-blank shots. The bullets from the heavy pistol simply bounced off her jumpsuit, causing no damage.
- Fuck! - August cursed, dodging the bulletproof woman's knuckles. - Are you invulnerable or something?
The man tossed the gun aside, there was no time to reload. He reached for his sword. The yellow woman's fist flew past, smashing into the wall and knocking it away. The woman in the jumpsuit was not skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and her physical parameters left much to be desired. It was only because of this that August had not yet received another blow from her.
Waiting for an opportunity, August missed the woman's next blow and drove his blade into her side with all his might. The yellow protective jumpsuit let the sword blade pass through and the supervillain cried out painfully.
- Scorpius! - The woman bounced off Augustus and called for her friend's help.
- Tz, you're such a useless Shocker. I'll have to work on my costume, I never thought I'd meet such an accurate marksman," the black-haired woman glared angrily, her metal tail dancing in the air behind her.
Augustus drew his second blade, the first remaining in the woman's knuckledraggled body. Scorpia was a dangerous opponent. Unlike her friend, she possessed hand-to-hand combat skills. So too, her physical capabilities were comparable to August's.
Fighting off Scorpia's tail and honed grabs, the man looked back for a moment. Stark had already reached the end of the corridor and slid off her wheelchair to use her hands to climb down the stairs.
- Worrying about your little girl, how sweet! - The black-haired mercenary laughed gleefully, carrying out another grapple attempt.
August fought off the girl's tail with his blade and put his broken arm under the supervillain's grip to deliver a powerful knee strike. Scorpius hesitated from the poke, and Augustus delivered another kick, this time to the woman's head.
- Scorpia went flying into the wall, punching it with her body. - Fuck, you fucking Shocker bitch! Are you gonna do something!? Stop whining about the cut and help me deal with him or Stark might escape!
While the two supervillains were figuring things out between them, August decided to run away himself.
- Where to? - Scorpius shouted after the mercenary, rising from the ruins. Shocker also joined her friend, recovering from her injury.
Augustus didn't care about the two women's shouts, he was just getting away. Yes, his escape didn't look heroic, but he wasn't a hero to die either. When he reached the end of the corridor, the mercenary stepped onto the fire escape and started down it. Scorpius, furious at the mercenary's insolence, and Shocker, aching from his wound, caught up with him from behind.
The man flew down a couple of floors and came upon Stark crawling down. Without stopping, August picked up the girl and ran downstairs with her.
Together they reached the ruined foyer. The corpses of guards and employees were lying everywhere, and the mercenary ran towards the exit.
With a crack, the windows on the first floor cracked open and a scorpion girl jumped out. In flight, she regrouped and landed right on her feet.
August's hand was occupied by Anita, the Scorpia's attacks he had nothing to fend off. So he decided to go for the breach before Shocker got to them. The car park was behind the supervillain, there was a Ferrari parked there, and Stark had the keys to it.
- I'm gonna gut you! - screamed the supervillain, attacking with her tail. She aimed at Stark, who was in the hands of the mercenary. The strike was perfectly timed, the scorpion girl was an experienced soldier. She had picked the perfect moment to strike.
Anita saw the Scorpia aiming at her make her strike. The stinger flew exactly in her trajectory, the red-haired girl closed her eyes. But the expected strike didn't happen.
- Grrrgh," Augustus muttered. The supervillain's sting ripped through his stomach. He covered Stark with his body.
- Why? - Anita mumbled in amazement, unaware of her mercenary's powers of recovery.
- Where's your car?! - August had managed to get through Scorpia with very few casualties. Anita pointed to a yellow sports car. The man ran up to the car and without ceremony, smashed the passenger window, pushing Stark into it. In the meantime, he ran round the car and got into the driver's seat through the broken window. Putting the keys into the ignition, he started the Ferrari and squeezing all the strength out of the car, drove it away from the car park.
The sports car was speeding through the streets of the city. August did not pay attention to traffic lights and skipped all the road crossings.
- Are you all right? - Stark asked the man, covering the deep cut on his arm. When the mercenary had shoved her through the broken window, he hadn't been careful.
- You see, I'm driving with one hand, trying to keep my guts in my stomach with the other. The second one sucks.
- When we get home, I'll try to help you! - Anita said worriedly, looking at the pool of blood spilling under August's feet.
The Ferrari left the city and reached the private sectors. The supervillains didn't pursue them, or they were simply able to get away from them. The mercenary somehow made it to the villa. There they were already met by Pepper, who had safely evacuated during the attack and arrived here. The first thing she did was to run to the passenger door and drag the slightly injured Stark over to the wheelchair.
August got out of the car by himself, covering his stomach with his whole hand, trying to keep his tearing guts out. With her tail Scorpia had cut deeply into his stomach, it should take about an hour to repair such a wound. By the time he had travelled to the car, the edges of the wound had already crusted over, thus stopping the blood from pouring out. The man needs to lie down for a couple of hours and then he'll recover.
- Pepper, help August, he's badly injured! - Anita shouted, rolling her pram to the entrance of the villa.
- Oh, my God! - Potts exclaimed, only now noticing the gash on the man's stomach. - Lean on me, gently.
- Don't worry, I'll get there on my own, and I've been out of shit like this before.
August went down to the basement where Stark's workshop was located. A red-haired girl dressed in an iron suit came out to him. There was no helmet on her head and the mercenary immediately recognised Anita in the canon Mark Two costume.
- Hurry over to the table, I'll analyse your body now. Don't worry, I'll do everything I can to save you, - Anita clung to his shoulder and helping him, laid him on the iron table. All the things that had been on the table were thrown to the floor in a rude manner by the owner of the workshop.
- Joanna, analyse August's body!
August didn't refuse Stark's help, the girl was greatly concerned about his injury. If he tried to refuse, Anita would most likely force him to undergo a medical examination.
A multitude of mechanical manipulators approached the mercenary. They began scanning his body, taking his temperature, analysing his blood....
- Anita, there's nothing wrong with me. It's just a little scratch.
- Shut up. Joanna, get me a full analysis on the screen!
The monitor, turned to the table, switched on and the unwrapped human body appeared on the screen. The area near the abdomen and left arm was burning red. Anita stared at the red areas for a couple of minutes and then without warning she reached in to the mercenary. First she removed the damaged armour plate from his chest and exposed the man's bare stomach. The girl took a long look at the open wound, which right before her eyes was slowly healing.
August did not interfere with Stark in any way, on the contrary, even helped. It was pointless to hide her regeneration and superhuman abilities from her. She would have found out sooner or later.
- Anita, I'm not an ordinary person. Just let me lie down for a couple of hours and the wounds will heal on their own.
- Mercenary, you never cease to amaze me," Anita looked away from the man's sculpted, snow-white abs and sighed in relief.
