Chapter 236 Killing!
As long as Morgan sits in that window seat, it's their time to strike.
The mercenaries began to lie in wait, ready to spring their trap.
As time ticked by, just when the Mercenary Corps almost thought Morgan wouldn't show up, a black Rolls-Royce parked at the entrance of the restaurant.
"He's here," Abigail whispered. He didn't rush the strike as the distance was a bit far. Although there was a chance of hitting the target, failure would surely alert Morgan. The best time to take action would be once Morgan sat in that seat. Of course, they had a backup plan in case the sniper failed.
One member was already dining in the restaurant. In the chaotic aftermath of a potential failed sniping attempt, they could easily pull out a gun and shoot.
The entire plan formed a perfect kill zone. However, Morgan was completely oblivious as he entered the restaurant and sat in the designated seat.
"He indeed sat in that seat… There is no error in the intel. Get ready to act," Abigail whispered quietly.
"Yes, we will strike simultaneously. Morgan will definitely die," another sniper said, his voice filled with confidence. He and the leader were the best snipers in the Mercenary Corps.
"Hmm." Abigail said nothing more, only nodding his head. At that moment, his feelings were complicated, and he didn't feel like talking.
At this time, Morgan wasn't aware that he had walked into a death trap.
"The plan failed, it really failed…" Morgan tapped the table, muttering quietly to himself. "The Knight Mercenary Corps has completely lost contact with us. From my reports, it seems Jiang Cheng has either captured them or they were apprehended by the authorities in Huaxia.
Either scenario is bad news for them. Moreover, not long ago, Jiang Cheng made an unforgettable phone call to Morgan! During this period, he has been meticulously investigating those around him to find out who betrayed him, yet he hasn't uncovered anyone.
This made Morgan feel utterly helpless and equally infuriated. He gritted his teeth in anger.
Sitting next to Morgan was his friend, who, upon hearing this, smiled and said, "They might just be bluffing you, stay calm, Morgan. You're certainly not the Morgan I know now. You're the backbone of the Morgan Clan. You absolute can't lose your composure."
"Though that's true, I just feel this matter is not that simple. Besides, since Jiang Cheng could get my private cell number, who knows what else he could find out. There's likely other means at his disposal, but the silence is unnerving," Morgan said, shaking his head while inadvertently twisting the ring on his index finger.
However, at that moment, Morgan felt a tremendous force hit him, followed by the sound of gunfire and shattering glass, and his consciousness completely faded. In that fraction of a second, he realized—he had been assassinated!
He was assassinated! He was as good as dead! Was this Jiang Cheng's backup plan? He actually sent someone to kill him! How did he know he'd be here today? He only comes here randomly once a week! How?
In a flash, his consciousness entirely vanished.
From the perspective of Morgan's friend, after the gunfire, Morgan was shot straight in the head!
Morgan's whole head exploded, brain matter and blood scattered instantly!
"Aaaahhhh!!!" His friend couldn't help but scream in horror, "Morgan!!"
The entire restaurant plunged into chaos from the sudden attack.
"Ahhhhh!!" The diners screamed one after another, and the scene turned into utter chaos.
The Knight Mercenary Corps' fallback agents quietly left amidst the crowd.
"It's done, let's go." Abigail retracted his sniper rifle, speaking with a somewhat conflicted tone, "I never thought it would be this simple to take him down."
"Yeah." Another sniper echoed, feeling a bit complicated, "He was Morgan... A major figure at the top of the United States, even more prominent than the president. Yet now he died so easily at our hands…"
"There's no time to lament, get out of here quickly. We need to eliminate the other four targets before dawn. If the plan changes after today, we're in trouble. Also, if we're delayed, it'll be hard to leave the United States," Abigail said, shaking his head.
"Yes!!" The series of assassinations unfolded quietly in New York in the United States. No one in the entire world could have imagined that amidst the launch event of the Transparent Phone, the leaders of the five most powerful consortia in the United States would be assassinated!
A mercenary group carrying out five high-profile killings in one night, with Jiang Cheng's information assistance, achieved success almost unbelievably, even the mercenaries found it hard to believe.
Who would believe that all of the target's electronic devices would suddenly malfunction? Allowing them smooth infiltration? Setting up an ambush?
Who would believe that all information about these powerful industry magnates would fall into their hands?
It was this incredible success, after killing five high-profile individuals, that left the mercenaries with no sense of accomplishment, only a faint fear of what kind of person Jiang Cheng really was!!
After completing all the missions, the leader of the mercenaries, Abigail, called Jiang Cheng.
Abigail said, "We've taken out the targets you asked for—now, will you let us go?"
Jiang Cheng chuckled and said, "Do you think it's that simple, the price for plotting against me?" Abigail was momentarily stunned, not expecting Jiang Cheng to be so blunt, and he roared, "You are untrustworthy!"
Jiang Cheng asked, puzzled, "When did I promise that after killing the five clan leaders, I would just let you go? Moreover, with the intelligence I provided, any other assassins could have easily killed them.
Abigail was taken aback, realizing that Jiang Cheng never actually said that, and he made a good point—without Jiang Cheng's help, they wouldn't have been able to eliminate even one target.
After a moment of silence, Abigail continued, "What exactly do you want from us?"
"I haven't thought of anything yet," Jiang Cheng said calmly. "For now, you can remain as chess pieces in my hands. If I have any needs in the future, I will let you know."
Hearing this, Abigail was about to respond when Jiang Cheng abruptly hung up the phone. In frustration, he smashed the phone and cursed, "Damn it!"
