"It's over!" Lin Shen knew his secret had been revealed, and he was afraid his life was in danger.

Lin Shen wanted to resist, but the speed of the Immortal was just too fast. He didn't have time to react before the liquid was injected into him.

As Lin Shen tried to rise, he suddenly felt the world spinning around him, and his body was thrown back onto the experimental platform.

Stars burst before Lin Shen's eyes, his arms and legs went limp, and he couldn't muster any strength in his body, as if he had turned into a soft-bodied animal. He struggled several times but couldn't get up.

After a while, Lin Shen felt that his head was not so dizzy anymore, but his body was still as soft as a puddle of mud.

Fortunately, his vision cleared up, and he could see the cold and beautiful Lou Ran standing in front of the experimental platform, watching him with an indifferent gaze.

"Why? Don't you understand what's in your heart?" As she spoke, Lou Ran took out another syringe, bent down, looked at Lin Shen's face, and plunged the needle directly into his neck.

With the liquid's injection, Lin Shen felt something was wrong with his body.

A wave of heat flowed through his feeble body toward a certain limb, making Lin Shen feel as if his boneless body had a spot that was harder than steel.

"What are you... what are you trying to do..." Lin Shen began to panic.

"For a vile person like you, it's natural not to leave behind a scourge," Lou Ran said while taking out a tray from the disinfectant cabinet beside her. The tray was filled with disposable tools, including various scissors and surgical knives.

"Damn, this woman is too sinister!" Lin Shen was horrified and quickly shouted, "Teacher Lou Ran, there must be some misunderstanding. I haven't done anything to you. I just admired you, so I couldn't help myself... I swear... I haven't done anything inappropriate to you... In my heart, you are a noble and pure woman not to be desecrated..."

"I suggest you'd better not talk or move around; otherwise if I cut too much, don't blame me," Lou Ran said as she chose a scalpel and carefully examined it. The expression on her face, as seen by Lin Shen, was more terrifying than the devil's.

Lin Shen's body immediately stiffened, and he didn't dare to struggle or move anymore.

"This is your last chance. I ask, you answer. If your answer dissatisfies me, the surgery starts immediately," Lou Ran said, ignoring Lin Shen as she hunched down and spoke to herself, "How did you make me lose consciousness?"

Lin Shen immediately felt a cold touch on one of his limbs and blurted out without hesitation, "I have a unique ability that allows me to ignore defenses to a certain extent."

"From my research on you, the talents you've displayed have already exceeded three," Lou Ran spoke indifferently.

"My talents are uncommon. I have a total of five," Lin Shen said.

"List all of your talents in detail without any omissions; you know the consequences otherwise…" Lou Ran was surprised; a typical Evolver would only have three talents, and those with four talents were extremely rare. Yet Lin Shen turned out to have five.

"War Song…" Lin Shen repeated the talents he had exhibited in public, which others had likely researched countless times. Even if he didn't say it, anyone who had researched him should have a fair understanding.

The only ability unknown to others was his Acupoint Sealing, but Lin Shen described it not as Acupoint Sealing but rather as an ability to perceive weaknesses and ignore defenses to a certain degree.

Lou Ran listened without suspicion. If Lin Shen had mentioned anything like Acupoint Sealing or a one in ten certainty, a researcher like Lou Ran would not have been able to accept it because, in her view, those were unscientific.

"Why did you do that to me?" With one question already resolved, Lou Ran sought to clear up another doubt.

Lin Shen had held her in his sleep but did not act indecently toward her, aside from resting his arm over her. There had been no other inappropriate conduct. This seemed pointless, so Lou Ran wanted to know the real reason.

With this thought, Lin Shen's heart actually relaxed. If Lou Ran had seen the surveillance, she would know he hadn't done anything.

However, Lin Shen couldn't figure out where that surveillance camera was. He had checked before and hadn't found any cameras still operating.

A bitter expression came over Lin Shen's face as he sighed and said, "I really do want you, but my reasoning tells me that I'm not worthy of you. I'm just an Ascender who might find even Nirvana out of reach and is likely to remain at the Ascension Level for life. And you are a tutor at the Supreme Academy, adored by millions, an Immortal that others can't become no matter how hard they try. As for me, aside from being handsome, I have nothing to offer. Just having the chance to share one sleep with you is enough satisfaction for my whole life. You are the lotus above the water, and I the mud beneath it. How could I bear to tarnish someone like you? You deserve someone better; I cannot let my own selfish desires ruin you."

"Glib tongue. It seems you really don't want it anymore," Lou Ran tightened her grip on the scalpel as she spoke.

Lin Shen, however, did not react as vehemently as before. Instead, he closed his eyes, his face showing a resigned calm, and a tear even slipped down from the corner of his eye as he accepted his fate, "Having shared a night's sleep with you in this life… it's enough…"
