Lou Ran's physical strength was overdrawn, yet she still forced herself to stand and examine Lin Shen's body.

Logically, after the Fire Seed inside Lin Shen's body was transformed by her Power of Law, the penetrating and merging strength should have far exceeded that of before, and Lin Shen should have started his Nirvana by now.

However, she saw no abnormal changes in Lin Shen's body, nor any signs of the Power of Nirvana overflowing.

"Failed?" Lou Ran, struggling to maintain her composure, walked toward Lin Shen, wanting to check his body again and to observe the physiological data.

But Lou Ran's physical exhaustion was simply too severe, and as she forced herself to stand up, she immediately felt dizzy, as if her brain was lacking blood, and she staggered, almost falling.

Lin Shen jumped down from the experimental platform and caught Lou Ran in a semi-embrace, "Teacher Lou Ran, are you alright? Please sit down first."

Lou Ran was assisted by Lin Shen to sit on the experimental platform, but suddenly, her vision blackened, and then she passed out.

Lin Shen looked at the unconscious Lou Ran, and carefully laid her flat on the experimental platform.

"Teacher Lou Ran, I'm sorry, but I had no choice," Lin Shen apologized inwardly.

Just now, while helping Lou Ran, Lin Shen's fingers, seemingly inadvertently, touched her sleep acupoint ten times, causing her to fall asleep.

Lin Shen did not intend to harm Lou Ran, but the Fire Seed on her person had to be taken no matter what; without it, the Heaven Defying Bone would be incomplete, rendering this perfect Fire Seed useless.

Even though he had not achieved Nirvana, the trip was still not in vain.

Lin Shen donned his battle suit, then apologized to Lou Ran, who was still on the experimental platform, and carefully lay down next to her. He placed one hand on her, closed his eyes, and rested.

Because Lou Ran had been put to sleep through an acupoint, she remained unconscious when Lin Shen woke up.

However, when Lin Shen woke up and looked at Lou Ran again, he no longer saw a blur but a mature beauty in a white lab coat and a ponytail, looking crisp and high-cold.

Even in her unconscious state, Lou Ran seemed somewhat unapproachable. She was beautiful indeed but a bit too serious.

Lin Shen did not take to excessively aloof women, and after a brief glance at her, he picked up a pair of glasses that had fallen to the floor, presumably belonging to Lou Ran, and placed them on her face.

It was just a pair of glasses, yet upon looking at Lou Ran again, Lin Shen was surprised to find that her somewhat icy and distant facade, while still giving off an aloof vibe, seemed to invoke a desire to conquer her.

"How can there be such a unique woman in this world?" Lin Shen marveled, the term "pure yet desirous" coming to mind. Mere glasses transformed a high-cold woman, who seemed immune to any inappropriate thoughts, into someone irresistibly tempting—an astonishing change.

Lin Shen shook his head, dispelling the wicked thoughts from his mind. After all, Lou Ran had tried her best to help him, and he couldn't take advantage of someone in such a state.

Moreover, he did not wish to be hunted by an Immortal-level powerhouse. His life was still the number one priority.

After positioning Lou Ran's body properly and ensuring there were no issues, Lin Shen pressed a few points on Lou Ran's body and then stood by waiting for Lou Ran to wake up.

Almost instantly, Lou Ran rose into the air, her body floating, as her cold eyes surveyed her surroundings.

"Teacher Lou Ran, are you alright? You were unconscious for a very long time, is there any issue with your body? If it's because of me that your body has suffered, I really wouldn't know how to repay your kindness," Lin Shen said, his face filled with three parts guilt and seven parts concern, his sincerity showing as he looked at Lou Ran.

Lou Ran's brow furrowed slightly as she scrutinized Lin Shen but saw no issue, his face full of sincerity.

Lou Ran checked her own body and didn't find anything wrong, but she was still puzzled. Even though her body had been severely drained, with her willpower, it was impossible for her to faint in front of someone else.

"Teacher Lou Ran, are you all right?" Seeing Lou Ran check the entire lab methodically, Lin Shen was also somewhat surprised by her calm and clear logic.

"You don't owe me any favors. This was our deal, you were my test subject, and I did my best to attempt it; besides, it hasn't succeeded yet, so there's no question of anyone owing anyone anything. You should stay here for now. I need to observe you for another couple of days, to ensure whether there's still a possibility for your Ascension," Lou Ran said as she turned on all the previously shut-down lab surveillance systems.

Lin Shen knew that Lou Ran had previously turned off the monitoring, and he had specifically checked it, so he felt comfortable staying, hoping that Lou Ran might have a way to help him achieve Nirvana.

Lou Ran called Di Esi over, asking him to take care of Lin Shen and monitor his bodily data, and to notify her immediately if there were any issues, as she needed to rest first.

After leaving the lab, Lou Ran did not go home but went to her own private office and then activated her brain-computer interface.

"Pull up the surveillance video from the lab at 11:23 yesterday," Lou Ran instructed the brain-computer interface.

"Right away, master." The brain-computer interface quickly retrieved the requested video from the lab.

All surveillance in the lab had been switched off, but Lou Ran herself had hidden an additional camera that Lin Shen had not discovered.

The holographic footage was quickly projected, displaying the moment Lin Shen steadied Lou Ran and had her sit on the test platform.

Lou Ran carefully watched Lin Shen's every move, feeling that the motion of one of his hands was somewhat awkward and illogical. However, that kind of movement had no point of strength release and couldn't possibly harm her body, much less cause her to lose consciousness. So Lou Ran could not determine whether Lin Shen really had any issues.

But when she saw Lin Shen lay her on the test platform and then lay down himself, also reaching out to embrace her, her face immediately flushed red.
