Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 585: Wild Swing

Underneath the mushroom cap, there were surprisingly many beads that looked like Luminous Pearls, each the size of a soccer ball, emitting a faint glow.

Among the folds beneath the mushroom cap, numerous beads were wedged tightly, countless in number and it was unclear what they were.

"Could these be Pet Eggs?" Lin Shen wondered, feeling that they somewhat resembled Pet Eggs.

"Might they be spores from giant mushrooms?" Wei Shoucheng guessed as well.

They were merely speculating and did not go up to investigate; their goal was to find the Base Mutation breeding ground of the Nirvana Creatures, so there was no need to clear mines.

The four of them became even more cautious, avoiding contact with the giant mushrooms.

From time to time, they spotted those beads that looked like Luminous Pearls underneath the giant mushrooms; Lin Shen felt that Wei Shoucheng was probably right, the beads might indeed be spores of the giant mushrooms.

If they were Pet Eggs, it would be impossible for so many to be here without even a shadow of a creature present.

They advanced carefully through the Mushroom Forest, which, despite its vibrant colors, looked like something out of a fairy tale.

Yet as the four of them walked through, they felt an indescribable sense of disharmony, as if real-world people had stepped into an animated world.

As they were walking, suddenly, the body of a giant mushroom up ahead began to tremble, its cap swelling as if inflating, growing both fatter and larger.

"Back off!" Wei Shouxin urgently shouted, and the four of them quickly retreated.

But it was a bit too late; the giant mushroom sneezed like, its cap violently unfurling, and countless soccer ball-sized beads erupted from the folds.

The beads bounced around with the elasticity of bouncing balls, careening wildly upon impact and continuing their chaotic jumps all around.

"Don't move, secure anything sharp, and don't burst those beads," Wei Shouxin bellowed. He stood still, not using the Power of Nirvana to protect himself, letting the beads hit him and then bounce away.

Lin Shen and the other two stood motionless like Wei Shouxin, letting the countless beads bounce on them.

After a while, the power on the beads finally subsided, falling to the ground, covering the nearby ground.

"Don't burst these beads; let's tread through slowly," Wei Shouxin advised, moving his feet slowly along the ground, parting the beads on the floor as he walked.

Following his lead, Lin Shen and the others carefully trudged forward, fearing that they might burst any of the highly elastic beads.

The four of them took a good half-hour to cover just a few hundred meters of distance.

After they left the area with the beads, the four of them let out a long sigh of relief. Although they didn't know whether the beads posed any threat to them, they didn't want to find out.

The four continued to move through the Mushroom Forest, and they even saw quite a few beads that had fallen to the ground in the forest.

They walked through them slowly, cautious not to rupture the beads and cause trouble.

Fortunately, after walking a bit further, there were gradually fewer giant mushrooms ahead.

Just as they were about to leave the Mushroom Forest, suddenly, they saw creatures appearing up ahead.

The four people quickly hid behind a giant mushroom, eyeing the creature that appeared in their field of vision from afar.

"What in the world is that?" Lin Shen's eyes lit up.

The creature that appeared in their line of sight was a beetle-like creature that shone like gold, its entire body looking like citrine, appearing crystal-clear and hardly resembling a living being but more like a piece of art.

It was much larger than the average beetle, slightly smaller than those football-sized pearls, but not by much.

As the three were assessing its level, several more beetle-like creatures appeared behind it, and then more and more came along, until within moments, several hundred such beetles had crawled over in their direction.

Although Lin Shen and his companions weren't afraid of these beetles, in such a place, it was better to avoid battle if possible.

When Lin Shen and the others thought the beetles were coming for them, to their surprise, the leading beetle threw itself onto a pearl, hid behind it, and then stood up, using its forelimbs to push the pearl as it walked back.

The other beetles did the same, each finding a pearl and then pushing it back the way they had come.

"So their target is those pearls, not us," Lin Shen observed the beetles moving the pearls and was reminded of another kind of beetle that rolls balls, instantly feeling that these Gold Crystal beetles weren't as high-level as he thought.

Just as he was pondering this, one of the beetles, while pushing its pearl back, accidentally pricked it with its spike.

The pearl exploded with a bang like a punctured balloon, and colorful liquid shot out from inside, splashing all over the beetle and other nearby ones.

The originally golden carapaces were now stained with colorful liquid, and those beetles that were splashed with the liquid began to act as if they were drunk, their bodies swaying unsteadily, and their speed significantly reduced.

The beetles that had not been splashed quickened their pace, rushing back with their pearls.

Suddenly, the beetles that had been splashed with the colorful liquid's eyes glowed, as if a switch had been flipped, and they began to wildly sway.

Dozens of beetles swayed crazily together, and the pearls they had been pushing also broke under their movements. With more bangs, the pearls burst one by one, and the colorful liquid sprayed everywhere, staining all the nearby beetles and those that hadn't managed to get away in time.

And then Lin Shen and his companions saw nearly a hundred beetles on the mushroom grass, furiously swaying, each shaking their heads and wiggling their butts as if fitted with electric motors.

They swayed and swayed and kept on swaying, even as their stamina was exhausted, they still shook relentlessly, their legs twitching but continuing to shake non-stop.

The four people watched aghast as several beetles broke their legs from all the shaking, yet still writhed on the ground swaying.

Everyone felt a shiver, relieved that Wei Shouxin's judgment was correct. If they had started breaking those pearls, now they would be the ones crazily swaying on the ground.

"These beetles are done for, let's go around," Wei Shouxin led the way, bypassing the scene from another side, and continued to walk forward.

Having left the area of the Mushroom Forest, they finally breathed a sigh of relief and continued along the valley.

There were many traces of beetle movement on the ground; it was probably because of the presence of those beetles that this section of the ground was virtually free of those small mushrooms.

The mountain walls were still covered with small mushrooms, which made for an extremely unsettling sight.

Following the traces of their movement not far ahead, Lin Shen and his companions witnessed an even more bizarre scene.
