Super Divine Pet Shop

Chapter 5: Claiming the Reward

"Novice task completed, host panel unlocked…"

"Pet Beast Shop officially open for business."

"Establishing [Currency Conversion] module, establishing [Chaos Breeding Spirit Pool]…"

"Novice task reward issued, would you like to claim it now?"

The familiar system notification snapped Su Ping out of his thoughts. Upon hearing the mention of a reward, his eyes lit up, and without a second thought, he said, "Claim it!"

"Host has received the basic 'Pet Beast Identification Technique'."

Pet Beast Identification Technique?

Su Ping waited a few seconds but heard no further notifications. He stared, puzzled.

Is that it?

After all the hellish trials of the past three days, he had only received a basic skill in Pet Beast Identification?!

With the Federation's comprehensive Pet Beast Encyclopedia, this Pet Beast Identification Technique seemed utterly useless to him, a skill so trashy it couldn't get worse.

"This system-issued Pet Beast Identification Technique can discern billions of species of Star Beasts, beyond the capabilities of your Pet Beast Encyclopedia."

The system responded coldly, clearly displeased with Su Ping's inner frustration.

Su Ping froze.

Billions of Star Beasts?

In his memory, even the Federation's most authoritative and comprehensive Pet Beast Encyclopedia contained data on only a few million species of Star Beasts, many of which were already extinct.

So this is the legendary 'system-made, must be a masterpiece' effect?

His resentment vanished immediately. While this wasn't the type of reward he had hoped for to enhance his strength right away, it was still an incredibly valuable skill.

Moreover, if he were to enter ancient places like the Thundercloud Sea again in the future, this Identification Technique would allow him to identify those ancient Star Beasts, most of which had already disappeared, with little data on them in the Federation's Encyclopedia.

Excited by the new skill, Su Ping looked around eagerly, only to suddenly remember the Lightning Mouse.

"Where's that little guy?"

Su Ping quickly ran to the back Pet Room and found the Lightning Mouse sleeping peacefully in one of the ancient stone traps.

Clearly, the hellish three-day ordeal had exhausted it, so as soon as it returned to this familiar place, it fell into a deep sleep.

Compared to three days ago, the Lightning Mouse's appearance hadn't changed much, except for a few dark purple strands mixed into its light purple fur, and its body looked slightly leaner.

However, the faintly ominous and savage aura emanating from it made the Moon-chasing Dog in the other stone trap tremble, uneasy and agitated.

Seeing that it was fine, Su Ping let out a sigh of relief.Although the contract had been terminated and they could no longer communicate emotionally, he had grown somewhat attached to the little guy after their brief time together.

Unfortunately, it belonged to someone else, and ultimately, it would have to be returned.

"Would you like to use the Pet Beast Identification Technique?"

Just as Su Ping sighed inwardly, the prompt appeared in his mind.

Identify this little guy?

Su Ping hesitated for a moment, then selected "Yes."

Lightning Mouse

•Attribute: Thunder-type Pet Beast

•Level: First-tier (upper tier)

•Combat Power: 3.6

•Potential: Below average

•Ability Control: Lightning Dash, Thunderflash, Lightning Shadow, Thunder Break, Electric Coat

Su Ping was stunned.

Thunderflash?

In the abilities list, he had actually seen "Thunderflash"!

It had really learned this top-tier Thunder-type secret skill?!

Su Ping was shocked. During the previous battles, he hadn't seen the Lightning Mouse use Thunderflash again, and had thought he had just imagined it. To his surprise, it had truly mastered it!

This humble, low-tier Lightning Mouse, which could be found everywhere in the Federation, had learned Thunderflash, a skill that even high-tier Thunder-type Star Beasts with level seven or eight powers found difficult to master. This was astonishing—if he told anyone, they'd think he was crazy!

"This little guy… its value has skyrocketed!"

Su Ping recovered from his shock, his eyes shining brightly.

A Lightning Mouse that could use Thunderflash? Its value must exceed that of a hundred ordinary ones!

And not to mention the other powerful abilities it had.

Apart from the Lightning Dash that most Lightning Mice mastered, Thunder Break and Lightning Shadow were essential abilities for high-tier Star Beasts.

A Lightning Mouse that possessed so many powerful skills could easily be considered a low-tier divine beast.

However, strangely, its potential was listed as "Below average"?

"The potential evaluation was made by comparing it to all the Lightning Mice data from the endless chaos era to the present. The host need not doubt it."

Sensing Su Ping's doubts, the system responded coldly.

"All the Lightning Mice…"

Su Ping froze, speechless.

Just the number of Lightning Mice born in the Federation each year was difficult to estimate, not to mention the data from the distant chaos period.

Given this, for this Lightning Mouse to be categorized as below average in potential was already terrifyingly strong!

Su Yan Ying slightly raised her head and could already see the sign of the small Pet Beast Shop at the end of the street—Little Mischief Pet Beast Shop.

It was a sunny day, but Su Yan Ying's mood was filled with clouds, utterly terrible.

She didn't expect she would be so unlucky, being pushed to the brink in the preliminary rounds of the Pet Beast Competition.

This was the academy's annual grand event, where the strength of the students would be showcased. Winning could get the attention of some Star Beast Masters, offering better mentorship and serving as a glorious resume when joining a Star Beast battle team.

However, in the past three rounds, she had faced tough opponents, leading to all her carefully nurtured battle pets being injured and losing their fighting ability.

Stopping at the preliminaries?

That was utterly unacceptable for her!

She had already spent a large sum of money to hire a high-level Pet Beast Healer to heal one of her battle pets.

But having only one healed wasn't enough, it was merely a trump card.

She still needed to play offensively and scout the enemy's ace pet.

If the academy didn't forbid signing new contracts with pets to compete within a month, she would have bought a few more, even though it would put a huge mental burden on her and possibly cause issues.

But now, she had no other battle pets left, except for the Lightning Mouse she had fostered outside.

An ordinary, low-tier Lightning Mouse.

Unremarkable.

She had originally planned to discard it, after all, this Lightning Mouse could no longer keep up with her pace. Against the opponents she was facing now, it was just cannon fodder.

But fortunately, her slight hesitation and unwillingness to sever the contract meant that the Lightning Mouse remained her only viable battle pet.

Though weak, it could still serve as a stepping stone, right?

"Is the boss here?"

Opening the door, Su Yan Ying entered the pet shop, casually surveying the shop's environment. She noticed the place looked rather empty, as if it were about to move.

Is it closing down?

She thought to herself, relieved that she arrived in time.

"Is anyone here?"

Su Ping heard the voice and immediately exited the Pet Room, seeing a cute young girl standing in the shop, glancing around.
