Sunshine Shower

Chapter 74

Woo Yeonjae waking up was startling enough, but hearing such crude words made Moon Seoyoon’s mind go blank. He didn’t know whether to first address the word “screw” or the implication of being “ditched.” In the end, he couldn’t say anything, just stared blankly down at Woo Yeonjae.

A brief silence followed. Feeling like he should say something, Moon Seoyoon parted his lips to speak, but the arm around his waist tightened.

“Ugh.”

Already lacking strength in his back, the slight tug pulled his weakly seated body down onto the bed. By the time he regained his senses, he was lying next to Woo Yeonjae.

“…Why.”

Despite having cried all night, Moon Seoyoon managed to speak with a voice that was passable. He subtly tried to scoot back. Even though they had just had sex, lying face-to-face with Woo Yeonjae in bed felt awkward. He didn’t have the energy left for anything else, but the instinct to create distance was deeply ingrained in him. If anything, it was more pronounced after sex.

“Go back to sleep.”

Woo Yeonjae said something unexpected.

“I’m sleepy.”

As their eyes met cautiously, Moon Seoyoon saw that Woo Yeonjae’s gaze was clear. For someone who claimed to be sleepy, he didn’t seem tired at all. Moon Seoyoon frowned slightly at the obvious lie, and Woo Yeonjae, catching on, curled his lips into a smile.

“Did I get caught pretending to be sleepy?”

“I know you too well… Let go, so I can get up.”

Thanks to Woo Yeonjae’s casual demeanor, Moon Seoyoon was able to act naturally as well. He felt both embarrassed and relieved, knowing he was the only one who had been overthinking and considering running away.

But he couldn’t stay like this forever, so Moon Seoyoon tried to push away the arm around his waist. Woo Yeonjae didn’t budge. It wasn’t surprising; even when he had been stronger, he had never succeeded in pushing him away.

“Moon Seoyoon, you’re so cold…”

“What do you mean?”

“Are you really going to clean yourself up and leave after taking my virginity?”

The crude words that came out of Woo Yeonjae’s mouth so early in the morning left Moon Seoyoon speechless.

“Spent our first night together, and now I’m getting abandoned, huh?”

Hearing the words “first night” and “abandoned” made his head spin. Woo Yeonjae had said it was his first time, so the term “first night” wasn’t entirely wrong, but “abandoned”? That felt a bit much. He had only wanted to slip out before Woo Yeonjae woke up because facing him felt awkward.

‘Though, from the outside, I guess it could look like I’m abandoning him.’

Maybe it was better to let things turn into a joke like this. Moon Seoyoon managed to find a reply.

“What do you mean, abandoned? I’m getting up because I’m awake.”

He thought it was a reasonable explanation, but Woo Yeonjae openly scowled.

“Where did you pick up that habit?”

Moon Seoyoon blinked, confused by Woo Yeonjae’s cold expression. His voice, as chilly as his face, followed.

“Did you just leave after sex?”

It was a question he couldn’t answer. This was the first morning after sex he’d ever experienced.

But it was too late to confess that he didn’t have any casual sex partners. The chance to clear up the misunderstanding had passed the moment they’d slept together.

‘If I say it was my first time now, he’ll think it’s ridiculous… He might even get angry.’

If Woo Yeonjae had known he didn’t have any casual sex partners, he might have reconsidered his feelings, and even if he didn’t understand, he wouldn’t have agreed to sleep with him. Admitting the truth now would ruin everything. If Woo Yeonjae realized Moon Seoyoon had lied just to have sex with him, their friendship would surely end.

It was only now that Moon Seoyoon fully grasped the extent of the lie he had created out of simple greed.

The realization that he had tainted his tender feelings with nothing more than fleeting desire brought back the guilt that had briefly faded. But it was Moon Seoyoon who had taken advantage of Woo Yeonjae’s misconception, so he had to bear this guilt alone.

This was the price he paid for selfishly pursuing his first time in such a petty way.

“Showing habits you picked up from someone else?”

“…Okay. I’m sorry.”

All he could do was apologize. He realized Woo Yeonjae might feel hurt, seeing the person he had spent the night with trying to leave without a word.

‘I didn’t think he’d place much importance on that.’

Even though they’d known each other for a long time, they weren’t lovers, so it was only natural that he didn’t know how much Woo Yeonjae might romanticize sex. Though he wasn’t sure if this situation could be described using the word “romantic.”

“Sorry?”

Woo Yeonjae asked with a tone that demanded confirmation. The coldness had vanished from his long eyes. Moon Seoyoon simply nodded. The strong arm around his waist was still there, but it wasn’t as close as it had been when he first woke up, so he could manage his expression.

“If you’re sorry, spend the weekend with me.”

“What?”

“It’s just two days. You don’t even work on weekends.”

It sounded like Woo Yeonjae was asking him to spend every weekend together. Surely that wasn’t what he meant. Moon Seoyoon unconsciously bit his lip.

“No, but still…”

“If you leave like this, I’ll feel really lonely.”

Woo Yeonjae curled up and leaned his head against Moon Seoyoon’s shoulder.

“I’m not going to school. What am I supposed to do alone on the weekend?”

“….”

“Should I just masturbate in the bed we slept in together?”

“Ugh, stop it.”

Moon Seoyoon pushed Woo Yeonjae’s face away from his shoulder, hinting that he should stop saying weird things. Woo Yeonjae responded with a sly smile. Though only the curve of his eyes was visible, it wasn’t hard to guess he was smiling, given that his lips were pressed against Moon Seoyoon’s palm.

Is he really okay? Moon Seoyoon subtly pulled his hand away, trying to gauge Woo Yeonjae’s expression without being too obvious. His earlier comments about being screwed over and picked up habits from someone else suggested he was upset about Moon Seoyoon trying to slip out of bed, but now he seemed fine, making it difficult to figure out what he was really feeling.

“We see each other at school, so why do we need to spend the weekends together too?”

“We used to see each other every day back in high school…”

The gentle curve in Woo Yeonjae’s eyes returned to normal as they narrowed slightly.

“You can’t even give me two days out of the week?”

There was a brief flicker of annoyance in Woo Yeonjae’s eyes, which were bathed in the morning sunlight. The moment Moon Seoyoon noticed it, his heart sank. Woo Yeonjae didn’t seem angry at him, but he was clearly upset. His slightly furrowed eyebrows even made him look a little hurt.

“We see each other in our major classes.”

Not knowing how to respond, Moon Seoyoon chose his words carefully.

“A few hours isn’t enough.”

“Enough for what?”

“I gave up my virginity just to secure you, but if you go and mess around with someone else, I’ll feel pretty shitty.”

Woo Yeonjae said this with a light smile on his lips as if he were joking. Though his face wore a playful expression, his words carried a sharp edge that made Moon Seoyoon feel uneasy. Instead of looking away, Moon Seoyoon subtly studied Woo Yeonjae’s face. The irritation in his voice suggested he wasn’t joking, but his lips were still curled in a grin, making it hard to read his true emotions.

All Moon Seoyoon could tell was that Woo Yeonjae had become much more open with using blunt language. While he had been shocked when Woo Yeonjae first mentioned his virginity, words like “messing around” didn’t leave him as stunned as they might have the day before. Though he still felt flustered, it wasn’t as overwhelming, and he managed to maintain a calm facade.

Perhaps it was because they had slept together. Maybe that’s why Woo Yeonjae’s tone had become so direct.

Either way, Moon Seoyoon felt like everything was his fault, so he sighed and replied.

“I’m not leaving…”

“So, you’re just going to take my virginity and run? Are you really planning to abandon me?”

“Why do you keep saying that? Fine, I’ll come over on Monday, okay?”

There was no way Moon Seoyoon could win against Woo Yeonjae. Satisfied with the answer, Woo Yeonjae slowly lifted his lips into a smile. His deepened grin seemed to carry a humid warmth.

Out of habit, Moon Seoyoon watched Woo Yeonjae’s expression. The irritation and hurt seemed to be fading away. A faint sense of relief crept into Moon Seoyoon’s fingertips.

“Seoyoon.”

“What?”

“If you need a dildo, just let me know.”

Moon Seoyoon blinked dumbly again, as if all his composure had vanished in an instant.

“I’m still better than those jerks who kick you out right after sex, aren’t I?”
