Summoner of the Fairy Tail

Chapter 266: The Mohawk

The fourth day of the Grand Magic Games was about to conclude with the final match, pitting the newly formed Fairy Tail team against the former champions, Sabertooth.

Before this decisive battle, two duo matches had already taken place. Quatro Cerberus suffered a crushing defeat due to Bacchus being out of sorts, even though Blue Pegasus's rabbit mascot turned out to be an ugly Exceed named Nichiya, who had no real combat power.

Essentially, this victory was Ichiya's doing, as he single-handedly took on both opponents, surprising everyone. It showed that appearances could indeed be deceiving.

However, despite the win, Blue Pegasus lost a lot of their supporters because Nichiya's appearance was simply too disgusting.

With this match, Blue Pegasus's score rose to 30 points, while Quatro Cerberus remained at a pitiful 15 points. If Bacchus hadn't won first place in the second day's event, who knows how bad things could have gotten for the famous guild?

The second match featured Mermaid Heel against Lamia Scale, with Kagura and Millianna facing off against Lyon and Yuka.

Neither side showcased their true strength, and after half an hour of stalling, the match ended in a draw, with each team gaining five points.

Lamia Scale's score also rose to 30 points, while Mermaid Heel moved up to 40 points, tying with Sabertooth.

Now, it was time for the final match.

The participants were already announced: the famous Twin Dragons of Sabertooth versus Fairy Tail's Fire Dragon and the Dragon Tamer.

The Dragon Tamer referred to Calvin. Due to his numerous summons, he was once known as the Beastmaster King. However, seven years had passed, and few remembered that title. Yet, his impressive performance in the first event had left a deep impression, especially with the appearance of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Combined with his earlier display of immense magic power, the title of Beastmaster no longer seemed fitting; Dragon Tamer suited him better.

This was a nickname given by the commentators but unexpectedly popular.

Sometimes, nicknames are born that easily.

Thus, when Calvin walked out calmly, the overwhelming noise from the audience was no surprise. Aside from the spectators, the other participants and those with vested interests were curious about his true strength. Beyond the glimpse they had seen on the first day, Calvin's full power remained a mystery.

Natsu, unusually serious and composed before the fight, stood next to Calvin, exuding a boundless fighting spirit.

In contrast to Calvin's calm, the faces of the Twin Dragons looked grim. Having lacked the courage to even confront Calvin earlier, the thought of defeating him now seemed absurd to Sting.

Still, Sting's main target had always been Natsu. He glanced apologetically at Rogue, signaling with his eyes.

"Leave Calvin to you. I need to achieve my seven-year goal! You know, I've always wanted to defeat Natsu."

Rogue sternly glared back, signaling in return.

"I categorically refuse. We fight together or not at all. Don't think you can leave me to face him alone!"

How these two managed such complex eye conversations was anyone's guess. Seeing Rogue's refusal, Sting had no choice but to use another tactic.

He pointed at Natsu and shouted.

"Natsu Dragneel! My wish for seven years has been to defeat you. If you have the guts, face me one-on-one in an all-out battle!"

He was using provocation.

Calvin looked at Sting as if he were an idiot. He couldn't understand why this arrogant White Dragon kid didn't realize this was a duo battle.

Duo battles weren't just about individual strength but also teamwork and strategy. They required flexibility and surprise elements.

It wasn't about separating into one-on-one fights like a fool. And having seen Calvin's wrath, did he think he could beat him one-on-one?

Natsu, while finding the suggestion foolish, still liked it. He didn't understand why the White Dragon was so fixated on him, but he wanted to beat the arrogance out of him.

He looked at Calvin.

Calvin wanted to shake his head but, knowing Natsu's stubborn nature, he decided to let him have his way. He nodded slightly.

Seeing this, Rogue broke into a cold sweat. For him, this was the worst outcome.

It meant facing Calvin alone for a while, and he had no confidence in lasting until his partner defeated Natsu.

To this point, their main concern was still Calvin. He didn't want to fight Calvin at all, as his target was Gajeel.

As the match officially began with the pumpkin host's announcement, Sting excitedly shouted, "Let's go!"

Rogue cursed Sting inwardly for being thick-skinned enough to leave the strongest opponent to him.

But before his thoughts could settle, Sting was already flying through the air. Naturally, it wasn't a voluntary flight but due to Natsu's elbowing him at blinding speed.

"What?!" Rogue's surprise was cut short as he was also sent flying. The culprit was Calvin, whose place was taken by a man with blue flaming wings and a golden mohawk, exuding a desolate aura.

"A new summon?" Natsu glanced briefly before rushing toward Sting, his right leg enveloped in red flames for a powerful kick.

The White Dragon barely recovered from the elbow before being kicked away again. But as one who made a name for himself in Fiore, he wasn't that easy to defeat. He rolled on the ground, stabilized himself, and launched a "White Dragon's Roar" at Natsu.

His roar, like a laser, was swift and fierce, but Natsu ducked effortlessly.

Rogue wasn't having an easy time either. The mohawk man was fast and agile with his flaming wings, sending Rogue flying just like Sting.

Rogue's response mirrored Sting's, cloaking himself in darkness and appearing behind Calvin with a shadowy arm ready to strike.

"Shadow Dragon's Slash."

Calvin seemed unguarded, but just as Rogue thought he had a chance, a blue flaming hand caught his wrist. It was the Mohawk man again.

The opponent looked drowsy and disdainful, but Rogue felt immense danger. His wrist felt shackled, unable to break free.

Then, he saw Calvin's contemptuous smile before numerous pale magic wolves emerged from Calvin.

At that moment, Rogue knew he was in trouble.

Boom!
