Chapter 13: Chapter ( 13 ) The Guardian's Embrace
The energy storage formed by Zhen Chen was similar to that of ordinary cultivators. However, through the visualization of data, Zhen Chen had a unique idea. He wanted to strengthen his energy storage by integrating an energy source directly into his body. The method derived from the data suggested that mental energy could absorb and store resources within the heart. But Zhen Chen was afraid of accidentally damaging his heart.
Therefore, he decided to store the energy beneath the liver, at the base of the sternum. To achieve this, he continuously channeled a steady flow of mental energy toward the liver.
As the golden layer around the liver thickened with energy, Zhen Chen connected his energy storage to the area beneath the liver, allowing energy currents to flow between them. The energy flowing from both hands also converged beneath the liver, forming an energy convergence point. This point gradually expanded, and the energy began to surge and struggle within.
Zhen Chen did not suppress the energy with his mind. Instead, he focused his consciousness entirely on a blue stone. Thanks to his growing spiritual strength, Zhen Chen's mental energy completely enveloped the stone.
Once the stone was fully covered, Zhen Chen placed his hands directly over his sternum and pressed down. With all his mental energy, he absorbed the stone into his body. Only when the stone successfully entered his meridian convergence point did Zhen Chen let out a sigh of relief.
However, the situation was only stable for the moment. When Zhen Chen focused his mind on the meridian convergence point, the stone floated restlessly within the energy center. He continued to monitor the situation, and once he was sure there was no danger, he shifted his focus back to his energy storage.
The energy vortex within his energy storage spun continuously, and as Zhen Chen applied focused pressure, it began to rotate even faster. The energy from the tower was also continuously absorbed into Zhen Chen's body, and the golden energy vortex now mixed with blue mist. This blue energy was the bloodline energy, the original blue bloodline energy. Zhen Chen's evolved bloodline genes glowed a bright blue. Since he hadn't encountered such bright blue energy before, he knew his evolved bloodline energy had not yet awakened.
After a night of cultivation, Zhen Chen emerged from his meditation chamber. It was hard to believe that such a significant transformation had occurred in just one night. After cleansing his body, Zhen Chen's skin was as clear and pure as a newborn's, and his hair and nails had grown longer. As he trimmed his nails, he pondered.
"The awakening of the bloodline energy has really changed my body..."
The old cells in his body had died, replaced by energy-rich genetic cells, giving Zhen Chen an aura of power that set him apart from ordinary people.
Zhen Chen's already handsome appearance had become even more striking. His bright eyes, enhanced by his increased mental energy, sparkled even more, enough to make any girl's heart race.
Zhen Chen couldn't hide his joy as he looked at himself in the mirror.
"One day, I'll become a handsome idol and steal the hearts of goddesses... Ah, just thinking about it is exciting!"
When Zhen Chen stepped out for breakfast, he ran into Xin Lan and Yu Xue Yin.
Xin Lan looked at him in amazement.
"Zhen Chen... How did you get so good-looking?"
Zhen Chen chuckled shyly.
"Sister Xin... Don't tease me. Big Brother will cry if you do."
Xin Lan shook her head and hooked her arm around Zhen Chen's.
"No way! For now, you're my boyfriend. Come on!"
As she dragged Zhen Chen away, Yu Xue Yin spoke up.
"Zhen Chen, you're coming with me to the Dark Abyss Cliff. Xin Lan, you stay here and gather the herbs we need from the herb market."
Xin Lan pouted.
"Can't I come too...?"
"No! This is important here," Yu Xue Yin insisted.
Zhen Chen chimed in.
"Let's eat breakfast first."
"Alright, let's go..." Xin Lan nodded, still holding onto Zhen Chen's arm as she pulled him toward the dining area.
Once everyone was ready, Yu Xue Yin and Zhen Chen's group set off for the Dark Abyss Cliff, while Xin Lan and a few others stayed behind in the small town to gather the necessary herbs. The Dark Abyss Cliff was located about four kilometers east of the town. The journey was not a straight path but rather a winding mountain road, making the trip longer. The narrow road carved into the mountain was barely wide enough for vehicles.
They stopped at a small village and continued on foot toward the Dark Abyss Cliff. The forest path was rugged, and when they reached the base of the Dark Abyss Mountain, one group set up camp with tents. Zhen Chen's group, however, continued climbing to set up camp higher on the mountain. Though Yu Xue Yin was tired, she didn't complain.
Zhen Chen, on the other hand, felt no fatigue. He was so full of energy that he had to restrain himself from running up the mountain. He walked over to Yu Xue Yin.
"Sister Xue Yin, do you want me to carry you? You look exhausted."
Yu Xue Yin looked at Zhen Chen in surprise. She was drenched in sweat, but Zhen Chen didn't have a single drop on him. She took a sip from her water bottle and asked.
"Aren't you tired, Zhen Chen? You don't even sweat, and you're not used to climbing mountains."
Zhen Chen puffed out his chest proudly.
"I have great stamina. If I carry you, we'll reach the top without any trouble."
Zhen Chen sat down in front of Yu Xue Yin. "Come on, Sister Xue Yin! I'll take you up the mountain."
Yu Xue Yin hesitated.
"Are you serious, Zhen Chen?"
Zhen Chen nodded.
"Of course! Come on."
After hoisting Yu Xue Yin onto his back, Zhen Chen climbed the mountain with ease.
"I told you, Sister Xue Yin, I'll always be by your side. This little climb is nothing."
Zhen Chen concentrated his spiritual energy in his legs and quickly ascended, overtaking the other groups and reaching the summit first.
Zhen Chen gently set Yu Xue Yin down and muttered.
"Ah... These people are so slow."
Yu Xue Yin glared at him.
"It's not that they're slow. You're just too fast."
Zhen Chen laughed and pretended not to understand.
"Oh, is that so?"
Yu Xue Yin looked at Zhen Chen in amazement.
"I had no idea you were this strong. I don't think anyone else knows either. You must have been hiding it."
Zhen Chen looked at her and said.
"You're the first to know, Sister Xue Yin."
Yu Xue Yin blushed and averted her gaze.
"How long will it take for the others to reach the top?"
Yu Xue Yin felt awkward being alone with Zhen Chen in the mountains. Her mind was filled with conflicting thoughts.
"Did he do this on purpose?"
"Since when did he become so strong?"
When she stole a glance at Zhen Chen, she saw him surveying the surroundings, his gaze fixed on the cliffside of the mountain.
At that moment, Zhen Chen suddenly turned to look at her, causing Yu Xue Yin to startle. What shocked her even more was that Zhen Chen, without a word, quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her into his embrace. Yu Xue Yin was about to scream when she saw a dagger flash in Zhen Chen's hand, embedding itself into the spot where she had been sitting.
Terrified, Yu Xue Yin turned to see a cobra with the dagger stuck in its neck. She shuddered at the thought of what could have happened if Zhen Chen hadn't pulled her away in time. She had been sitting on a large log, and the snake had apparently emerged from a hollow beneath it.
As her fear subsided, Yu Xue Yin realized she was still in Zhen Chen's arms and blushed deeply.
"Thank you," she whispered shyly.
Zhen Chen, his face also red, looked down at the beautiful woman in his arms and asked.
"Were you scared?"
Yu Xue Yin shook her head, too embarrassed to speak.
"Zhen Chen... Please let me go."
Her voice was soft and trembling, betraying her exhaustion and nervousness.
Was she trembling from fear of the snake...
Or from the pounding of her heart caused by a man?
Only Yu Xue Yin could know for sure.
