Summer at the Campbell's

The air in the mansion was cold, every corner of the house was filled with a sense of dread.

Rosaline was not as sad as he thought she be. But she wasn't happy.

"Y'know it's okay to cry" He said

"As much as I want to, the guy wanted me ruined. I don't hate him but he doesn't deserve my tears" She placed a kiss on his cheek.

Shaan sighed. What a stubborn woman!

It didn't matter what he deserved anymore, he was dead and gone.

Shaan went to find Noah, he found him in Nolan's room.

"There you are. I'm sorry for your loss"

"Thanks." Noah tightened his grip on the picture frame he was holding.

It was picture of the Campbell siblings.

"This was a year before Catherine died"

"Yeah, I remember"

"A cousin worth more than my two siblings combined. Uncle must've turned in his grave when she died. We were supposed to protect her, not kill her"

"It's not your fault " was all Shaan could say, he couldn't possibly tell him that Catherine was still alive.

"I can't mourn him,"

"What?"

"I'm glad he's gone, he is my brother but I'm so relieved he's gone. I can't bring myself to forgive him , I know it makes me a bad person but I can live with that"

"Are you sure he's dead?"

"We were in the hospital when he was announced dead"

"In the ward?"

"Yeah"

"What if I told you,you don't have to hate him as much?"

"What do you mean?"

"What if Catherine's alive?"

Nara sucked her teeth and made her way to her room.

Catherine might be alive?!

She bit her nail, of all time for him to drop dead, he chose now.

Bullshit!

Bless her mother for asking her to call Noah down for lunch.

"Conceited bastard, my brother would not miss you either" She scoffed.

She scrambled on the bed and quickly picked up her phone. She dialed the number Nolan gave to her.

It rang and there was no response.

Finally , someone answered

"Hello?" From the other end of the phone.

"Nolan?"

"Hello Nara"

"Oh thank goodness, I thought you really died."

"The point?"

" Oh, yeah. Catherine's alive"

"I know, open the door"

She ran out of her room to the attic and opened the back door of the attic that led to the garden.

"Nolan in flesh" She chuckled

He grimaced then smirked

Nara smiled

He must be thinking he's some kind of overlord.

Noah's face paled then he frowned.

" You may be my best friend but I wouldn't hesitate to kill you if you dare trample on my sister's death again"

" I called the cops when I was at the airport "

"Why?"

"Isn't it to sudden , two days before your wedding, he dies?...really?" Shaan shot him a skeptical look

"It's God's plan "

"I'm not questioning God's plan, I'm questioning the fact that Nolan might not be as dead as we can think he is."

"As dead?"

"I'm just saying he might not be burial dead but he's definitely jail dead"

"God took care of our problem in his own time "

"God did but His blessing add no sorrow, why would he disrupt your wedding because He wants to take care of a fly?"

"You're not making any sense Detective "

A scream was heard from the living room, Noah and Shaan rushed down the stairs.

"Nolan!....get the knife away from her" Rosaline said.

He inched the knife closer to Beatrice's neck.

" Was wondering when you'd show up" Shaan said.

"Well here I am...how does it feel to know that your dear mother in-law's life is hanging by a thread"

"What do you want ?" Noah had a look of disgust on his face.

"Good, you're a better business man than your partner, brother. There's an envelope on the table, sign it"

"What's in it?"

"You're handing the company over to me" .

"Over her dead body" Noah yelled

"What?!" Bearice yelled back.

"Technically,you're the one in choke hold with a knife to your throat so it's inappropriate to say my dead body ,cause he'd have to off you first before he'd be able to kill me and they'll proba-" Noah was saying nervously

"Sign the damn papers!"

"Nara?" Shaan said.

"Nar-" He was interuppted by the sudden bang he felt in his head."-I...I" he dropped to the floor like jelly

"And that's how knock out a lunatic,twice your size without getting violent" Nara smiled and blew the syringe.

A month ago...

"I'll call you when I need it documented" Shaan dropped his phone on the table.

The wedding preparation combined with work was taking a lot out of him.

" You smell like a pregnant woman" He raised his head.

"What do you want Nara?"

"Hurtful, that is no way to welcome your guest"

"An unwanted guest...you didn't even knock. What're you doing in my room?"

"So you really love Rosy?"

"Yes I do, y'all need to stop this interrogation of yours"

" How many of us?" Nara laughed

"Your dad, her dad, her mom, your mom, her siblings, the wives. Even Noah!"

She laughed heartily "y'know I used to have a crush on you"

"Funny"

"I know, you didn't come around much but whenever I come to see Noah at the dorm, I always look for you "

" I'm not going to cancel my marriage "

Nara laughed "Dude,that was like when I was 10, I don't like you like that anymore "

"Okay?"

" I thought you pushed her off that cliff that night, I saw you with her but now that I know who did it, I'm so angry and so sad but I'm also happy it wasn't you "

"So?"

"He needs to get what he deserves. I've always hated Rosaline cause she destroyed our friendship but now I see , she is just a victim like Catherine"

"Okay, goodnight "

"That's it?....you won't tell me what I need to do or how I can help?"

"We'll see"

Present day

Noah clenched his fist, he needed to get his anger out of his system

But his father beat him to it, the sound of blood splatting on the floor got everyone shocked and even more surprised that Jonathan was the one who delivered the punch.

"What did Catherine ever do to you?"

"That ..... little.....b**ch.....t..old me" He chuckled"....that...I..I wasn't worthy of the Campbell name, she....said th..at I was adopted... Peasant!" He screamed.

" I should've taken you back to the orphanage "

Gina sat quietly on the sofa, she didn't utter a word as tears streamed down her face.

Beatrice patted her shoulder gently.

Her eyes were widened as she stared into nothing. She had wanted to die so many nights that she couldn't keep her brother's daughter alive as she promised. He would haunt her dreams ever night asking for his daughter. She couldn't live with herself. She had been trying for so long to find her niece's murderer or her dead body all to no avail. Now that the killer was in front of her ,she couldn't do anything but mutter "why did it have to you?"

The cops came in and cuffed Nolan then took him away. The cuffs were probably not needed because of the substance Nara injected in him.

Renee took her phone and went outside,since there was no dead body there was no burial.

She called Kenneth.

" Hey, we just got to the airport, about to board the plane.Talk later"

"You don't have to come. Nolan's not dead"

"What?!" They said

"Yeah, he came back to life just now and apparently he also killed Catherine"

"Yeah...I'm going home" Kenneth said from the other end .

"How's Rosaline holding up?" Zoe asked

"She's cool"

"Y'all good?"

"Haven't talked "

"You'll be fine, okay. Bye"

"Tell the dead guy we said hi" Rudy added before they hung up.

"Was that Ken and the rest?"Rosaline said from behind her

"Yeah, they're going to cancel the flight"

"The wedding?"

"We already sent word to the guest about the changes we made.We moved it up a month, so there's no need to send another invitation that the wedding will go on as planned"

"You good?"

"I'm trying to be...it's like the universe doesn't want me to get married "

" That's not true" she rocked Kayid gently

"You make and you'd make a fine mama"

"Thanks"

"How's married life?"

"It's lovely, had a few bumps but we're past that now"

"I'm sorry bout everything I said, I didn't mean it. I guess I was just jealous and angry , I honestly don't know why I-"

"Ren, I understand. We're sisters and bestfriends. I love you so I get it"

"Thank you " she hugged her "He's really cute" she pulled Kayid cheeks gently.
