Chapter 480: Do Not Read

Whoom!

Shaa!

Shaa!

Shaa!

Wei Jun's attacks passed the monster as it successfully managed to dodge all of them. The fact that they were harmless to the monster never needed to be revealed because the monster easily managed to dodge all attacks.

Of course, it did what Wei Jun wanted, and the monster's ascension was a little delayed. Just enough for Wei Jun to completely charge his skill.

He pointed the sword at the monster that tried to dodge, but it was an attack that could never be dodged. It's a wide area aside, the attack itself was conjured keeping in mind that the monster could dodge it.

"Abyss." Wei Jun said in a low voice and...

Tham!!!

"GGAAAAHHHH!!!"

"Wh-What is that?" The princess couldn't help but tremble as she saw the pillar of darkness descending at an angle of forty-five degrees towards the ground, the city. They would be safe from the attack, that was for sure, but the fear that came along with the attack was something no one could manage to avoid.

It wasn't just her, all the masters with her, those that had come from the world of martial arts as reinforcements to defeat the 'Slaughterer of the East' shivered in fear. It was even worse for them, considering they could understand the true essence of that power, unlike the princess, who could only tell it was dangerous, not understand the underlying deeper meaning of it.

However, the one who had it the hardest was...

"How...?" She muttered as she clutched the sword in her hand. It was the same technique, but with an entirely different comprehension. While hers, or to be more precise, his, attack aimed to swallow everything, this attack, the attack of the young man, threatened to eradicate everything into the confines of Chaos.

The only difference was that while his attack was quick and precise, full of mercy, the attack of the young man was full of agony for its victims. It was aimed to deliver the greatest amount of pain upon its targets, and such was proven by the blood-curdling screams of the monster that was at one end of the pillar that was extending towards the ground.

"GAAAHHHH!!!!"

Nothing but pain could be heard in that voice, and even though its hands were extended, as if it was trying to resist the attack, what the monster was really trying was to get away, but it couldn't. It couldn't help but be swallowed.

Boom!!!

A cloud rose, a mushroom-shaped explosion in another corner of the city, finally razing the entire capital, and a tremor that passed through not only the ground, but even those who were standing on it. They felt their own lives shaken by the strong force.

"Kugh!"

"Agh!"

"Kyaahh!!!"

Many were blown away by the strong winds brought by the attack; some managed to remain standing but at a great cost, and some only grunted as the force overtook them.

Only one remained unfazed in the face of that power.

While it was true that it was a force to be reckoned with and it was something deeper beyond her comprehension, she was sure she wouldn't lose if she were to fight the young man and his techniques.

Winning, though, was an entirely different story.

However, none of them mattered as she gazed in the sky where the other end of the pillar was, at the owner of the source of that devastating attack, and all she saw was...

'So he had to pay a price.' She thought inwardly.

Wei Jun could be seen still standing in the air, his breath calm; however, his pale complexion, that paler than usual, and the purple arm with which he held the sword told an entirely different story.

[Healing pill had been consumed]

[Health had been restored]

[Damage beyond the pill's heal detected]

[50% of the damage and effects would remain]

It was the first time the healing pill had failed to heal him fully. Before, when he used the skill [Abyss], Wei Jun had Natasha and Mark Wilson to heal him, and the added factor of the healing pill helped with the effects on his body.

However, not only did he not have them this time, but only the healing pill, due to the 'Sword of Chaos', the effect of the skill was multiplied by two, delivering greater damage and, in doing so, a greater side effect on his body.

He slowly began to descend until he finally arrived close to the ground. By the time he did so, the dust and the effects of the explosion had already settled, and the monster could be seen in the middle of a deep, deep crater that was enough to fill New York's state building.

Standing at the edge of the crater, Wei Jun could only look at the monster.

"I suppose you were enough to kill it." The woman with whom he had clashed before came close to him. She stood behind him, her chilly facade and chill words the same, but there could be something else that could be spotted ever so lightly in her words.

Admiration.

She looked at Wei Jun, still standing even though he was in massive pain, yet there wasn't a single wince on his face, no frown, no change to depict he was in pain.

But there was one thing she didn't understand, so she asked, "Why are you still on guard?"

The monster was dead, and the fight was over. She could detect no movements or any signs of breathing from the monster, not to mention there was no change in its Qi as well.

It was most definitely dead, but Wei Jun was still on alert as if the fight hadn't come to an end.

"Because it's not over yet." Wei Jun replied.

He couldn't tell himself. He wasn't experienced enough to pick up on the absence of Qi and things like that. However, there was one fact that he had faith in like no other.

The system notification.

Even though he had defeated the monster, there was no

quest complete notification. It meant there was something yet to come. Something that was needed to complete the quest.

He remained in his spot and waited. He so desperately wished that nothing happened for the next eight to seven minutes. Just until the cool down on his health replenishment pill ended.

But he didn't like to leave things to chance. He wanted to e sure there was nothing amiss no matter what.

He looked at the monster, unmoving and breathless. He was sure those things were required to keep the life in a body ongoing. If there were none of those aspects, then the being was as good as dead.

However, he looked around. There was nothing left that was tied to the 'Slaughterer of the East,' but he remembered the distinct quality of him, the one that he had before he died.

The power to raise the undeads.

He didn't know what the process of becoming an undead but if he had to guess, there was only one thing left.

To become undead, one must have had to die first. If that was the case for the creatures called undead he faced before, wouldn't it be the same for the owner of that power as well?

As if on cue, the monster opened its eyes, the hollow eyes that it had before, the chest stable as there was no breath left in its body. The monster's image blurred even before Wei Jun could register it opening its eyes, and it appeared behind him.

By the time Wei Jun turned his head and looked at the monster, the monster was bringing down its claws on him, intending to cut him in half.

Wei Jun, time slowed down to the point it moved like a snail, Wei Jun's mind in overdrive, his thoughts rampaging, alarms blaring in his mind, and his mind came to only one conclusion.

Death.

He wouldn't be able to survive this one. No Death Qi, no regeneration, no miracle from the system could save him from that.

All except for one.

"Divine Demon Sword Art..."

Four words, echoing in the still silence of his slow world as he turned his pupils with great effort to look at the woman who was standing next to him, her sword raised and pointed at the undead monster.

The movement was fast but precise, elegant but destructive, and the last word that exited her mouth immediately zapped his memory, explaining why her movements had been familiar.

"Darkness."

Zhamm!!!

And that was the last thing he saw before white covered his eyes, and his body became lethargic.

His senses dulled down, and his mind began to shut down in the white empty space.

And in that space, the last words he heard before his mind went blank were...

[Quest complete]

[Now preparing to grant the rewards]

And then, all that was left was nothing, as his mind fell into the depths of nothingness.
