Chapter 224: Extracting Information
After leaving the room, Luo Zheng closed the door behind him, and the two of them walked side by side along the corridor towards the outside, reaching the second-floor lobby. Someone approached to ask something in the incomprehensible local language, Luo Zheng calmly pressed the barrel of his gun against the person slightly, the impatient boss waved his hand and shooed the person away. The two descended the stairs, Luo Zheng didn't notice that the person he had just left had rushed off to make a phone call.
Along the way, various staff members respectfully saluted the boss, none daring to look directly at him. After descending the stairs and passing through the first-floor lobby, the two reached the entrance. A cool breeze blew by, causing Luo Zheng to take a deep breath to calm himself, then he asked in a cold, low voice, "Where's your car?"
The boss had no choice but to pull out his car keys and led Luo Zheng to a Ferrari sports car. Luo Zheng gestured for the boss to sit in the driver's seat while he himself took the passenger seat, still aiming the gun at the boss, his hand gripping the gun firmly, and commanded coldly, "Drive, leave town."
"Where to?" the boss asked reluctantly, starting the car and driving forward.
Luo Zheng silently watched the boss and did not specify any location, all the while pondering his plan. Having finally snagged a big fish, he intended to make good use of it. Soon, Luo Zheng noticed a car following them from behind, he scoffed and warned, "Tell your people better not follow, or I won't mind killing someone."
The boss saw the following car through the rearview mirror and, realizing how quickly Luo Zheng had spotted it, reluctantly made a call. Soon, the car behind them stopped. The boss threw his cellphone aside with a gloomy expression and said, "Judging by your skills, you must have professional training. Who exactly are you? Looking for money? Say an amount, I'll comply."
"I'm the very person you named," Luo Zheng sneered.
"You? Luo Zheng from Huaxia?" the boss exclaimed in shock, slamming the brakes and stopping the car, staring steadily at Luo Zheng, his eyes filled with shock and confusion.
"Surprised, huh? Keep driving," Luo Zheng said coldly.
"Really, who are you?" the boss asked in a panic, starting the car again and moving forward.
"Your question is naive and superfluous. Didn't you want me to come here? Tell me, where are my people being held?" Luo Zheng asked coldly.
"At the base. You think you can rescue them alone? Impossible," the boss regained some of his composure and asked discontentedly, "I mean your identity, you're not an ordinary person."
"Who told you I'm an ordinary person?" Luo Zheng retorted, "Call your father, and we'll trade you for my people."
"That's impossible," the boss said immediately, noting Luo Zheng's impatient expression, and explained, "I'm a warrior, and a warrior must always be prepared to sacrifice. I can die, but not trade people, otherwise, I'll be executed even if I survive. Those are our rules."
"Living is easy in my hands, just cooperate. Dying is hard, I have nearly a hundred ways to make your life a living hell. You kidnapped my people, I kidnapped yours, fair and square. If any of my people lose a single hair, I'll slaughter your entire family. You might want to test that," Luo Zheng said coldly, his icy tone devoid of any emotion. Thinking of Lan Xue and the others intensified his murderous aura.
The boss could feel the intense killing intent emanating from Luo Zheng, which made him gasp in shock. Such intense killing intent, how many had he killed to develop that? He eventually asked, "You must have been hired as an assassin by their family, right? Or maybe you're a special agent from Huaxia, you're no ordinary person."
"You forgot to answer my question. My patience is limited. It shouldn't be too hard to find your home, right? If I could sneak into the nightclub to capture you, I can surely wipe out your family," Luo Zheng said coldly.
"You're definitely not a Huaxia special agent. Agents are decisive in their actions, but they never harm family members, nor do they stoop to kidnapping. You must be a hired assassin from their family. Alright, I'll call my father. Whether it'll work, I can't guarantee. You can kill me, but please, spare my family," The boss was shaken by Luo Zheng's cold killing intent, he hurriedly responded and pulled out his cellphone.
Once the phone connected, the boss babbled something, Luo Zheng impassively waited. After a while, the phone call ended and the boss quickly said to Luo Zheng, "We're still meeting at Mogan Town's nightclub, my dad wants to see you."
"Good, now let's go to the base where you're holding my people," Luo Zheng declared coldly.
"Not going to meet my dad first?" the boss asked in surprise, then quickly realized this was Luo Zheng's strategy to lure the tiger away from the mountain. He couldn't help but bitterly smile and say, "You're very clever. Alright, I'll take you there, but on one condition, I can't go in because no one must know I led you there, or my family and I will face the same death."
"Agreed," Luo Zheng said coldly, spreading out a map for the boss to pinpoint the base's location and name. Then, with a swift chop to the boss's neck, he knocked him unconscious. Language barriers are difficult, who knew who the boss was talking to or what was being said? In such dangerous situations, one must never trust a stranger easily.
Luo Zheng dragged the unconscious boss out, tossed him into the back trunk, and after a thought, stuffed a cloth from the trunk into the boss's mouth, covered the trunk, then took the driver's seat. He pulled out the recently dialed number from the boss's phone and dialed a new number using his own satellite phone.
"This is the Garbage Disposal Company, what can I help you with?" a pleasant voice asked.
The Garbage Disposal Company was a euphemism for the duties of the National Blade Special Combat Team. If a wrong caller dialed in, it wouldn't reveal the nature of their operation. Luo Zheng, calling this number for the first time, was curious but appreciated hearing the familiar Mandarin, which unlike here, made communication challenging. He promptly replied, "I'm a garbage cleaner."
"May I have your work identification number?" the pleasant voice asked.
Luo Zheng provided his unique work identification code, a number known only to the system and himself. These codes were customizable and incalculable in pattern, and since the system wasn't connected to the internet, it was nearly impossible for outsiders to decode, thus ensuring high security. After the system confirmation, Luo Zheng asked the system to immediately connect him to Captain Wu's office.
"This is Wu Jin speaking, who's calling?" Captain Wu said on the phone.
Hearing Captain Wu's full name for the first time, Luo Zheng almost wanted to laugh, but thinking about Lan Xue and the others in danger dampened his mood. The emergence of the Reincarnation Killers and the involvement of the Wata Guerrilla made him feel the seriousness and complexity of the situation. Information was scarce, and he needed headquarters' support. He then said, "Captain, it's me."
"Ghost, that's great. Ghostface took some people over, how are you doing?" Captain Wu hastily inquired.
