Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 187: Biochemical Tactics

War is about finding the enemy's weakness and delivering a fatal blow with all your might. The Wild Wolf Mercenary Group had hunkered down, making them hard to find and see, which left everyone at a loss about how to proceed. Moreover, with minefields, there were hardly any vulnerabilities. Lan Xue suggested using sniper tactics to wear down the enemy, a strategy that would play to our strengths and exploit the enemy's shortcomings. However, the downside of such a strategy had to be considered. That concerned the families of the enemy. These family members were innocent and, as an army of justice, it was absolutely unacceptable to target them.

In Luo Zheng's view, this place was a battlefield, where there were only enemies and our own forces, without room for such scruples. He coldly said, "I have considered this issue. We can cut off their water supply. Don't forget the lair is about four hundred meters from the external river. That distance is too great for anyone to dare to come out. If they send out women, children, and the elderly, I'm sorry, but this is war. We can't kill them, but wounding them is still humane, right? Don't forget they are the enemy's families. It's already merciful not to target them directly. You might think I'm cruel, but this is a battlefield. Unless you have a better solution."

"No one will say you're cruel. We all understand the reasons. However, we need to consider the political impact. There's one point you might not have thought of," Lan Xue said, smoothing things over. Seeing that he had everyone's attention, he continued, "If we target the families, even if only to deter, I'm certain the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group would immediately spread the news. That would be detrimental to our country. War serves national interests, and tactics that harm those interests are unacceptable. Of course, this approach is feasible, but let everyone think. Does anyone have a better method?"

Luo Zheng had indeed not considered the international implications, and awkwardly glanced at Lan Xue. Seeing the encouraging look she gave him, he didn't feel blamed for being heartless and breathed a sigh of relief, then fell into contemplation. After a while, seeing that everyone was still deep in thought, he said, "I have an idea. Take a look and see if it works."

"Go ahead," Lan Xue encouraged.

"We hunt wild animals for food. Let me handle the leftovers and make them decompose faster. I'll throw them upstream to contaminate the water source. People who drink it will get dysentery, colds, fevers, and so on. It won't kill anyone, but it will weaken their fighting capabilities. Then, our opportunity to strike will appear," Luo Zheng proposed.

Upon hearing this, everyone's eyes lit up. Ghost Hand laughed and said, "Contaminating the water source with such a wicked idea, I think it works. You've got something there, but are you sure the body can decompose quickly and ensure no one will die?"

"Don't worry, don't forget I'm a Hunter," Luo Zheng said confidently.

"I won't forget. Which animal is most suitable? Leave the hunting to me," Ghost Hand chuckled.

"Wild Wolf." Luo Zheng stood up, looked towards the direction of the lair, and his eyes hardened, his fighting spirit beginning to boil.

"Wild Wolves, using wild wolves to attack the lair, to attack the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group with a biological attack. I like your idea, kid. Okay, if no one objects, I'll take on the task of hunting the wild wolves. I'll get you eight or ten by tomorrow morning. Is that enough?" Ghost Hand said beamingly.

"That's enough," Luo Zheng readily agreed.

"Snow Leopard, you and Ghost Hand move together, be mindful of safety, and make sure to complete the mission. Mountain Eagle, you're responsible for closely surveilling the enemies in the Wolf's Den and report immediately any suspicious movements. The rest of you can rest on-site and prepare some food," Lan Xue immediately issued the commands.

"Let my people also go and assist in hunting the Wild Wolves," Luo Zheng looked towards Lan Xue. After a moment's thought, Lan Xue nodded. Luo Zheng immediately turned to the members of Ghost Team and ordered, "Three of you go, decide amongst yourselves, the remaining two will be responsible for making the fire and cooking. The enemy already knows we are coming and now hides in their den daring not to come out; we're not worried about being exposed."

"Yes," members of Ghost Team immediately responded. They drew straws to decide who would go. Following Ghost Hand and others to hunt wolves seemed dangerous, but it was an opportunity to learn a lot. Everyone was shrewd and didn't want to miss such a good opportunity. Drawing straws was undoubtedly the best chance.

Luo Zheng knew his brothers' thoughts and couldn't help but smile. Unity and ambition within the squad were good things. He didn't stop them, climbed up a large tree reaching the crown, and observed seriously through the sniper scope. The Wolf's Den was still as quiet as ever, but Luo Zheng faintly sensed the murderous intent brewing inside. The target was probably hidden in the rooms, possibly observing his position.

The campfire was quickly ignited. The remaining members of Ghost Team, Zhou Gang and Wu Yuan, started the fire and went into the dense forest to hunt a few wild rabbits, returning to roast them on the campfire. Luo Zheng observed for a while and saw that the Wolf's Den remained as peaceful as usual. Thinking that Mountain Eagle was specifically watching it, he climbed down from the tree, wandered around nearby, and gathered some plants that accelerate the decay of corpses.

By the time he returned to camp, the wild rabbits were nearly roasted to a golden, sizzling state. Zhou Gang came forward with a well-roasted rabbit, tore off a plump leg, and handed it to Lan Xue, handing the rest to Luo Zheng. Lan Xue thanked him and gestured for Luo Zheng to talk. Luo Zheng tore off a leg, returned the rest to Zhou Gang, walked to the side while eating, and asked in surprise, "What's up?"

"Biological warfare tactics are good, but I'm worried about the time it might take. Besides, what if the Wolf's Den has a well? I mean that we should continue using sniping tactics to harass the enemy, not attacking the family, but rather valuable targets, such as their helicopter, to prevent escape, and even their houses, with only one goal, to create chaos and panic, forcing them to come out and fight us," Lan Xue solemnly suggested.

Luo Zheng thought for a moment, found it reasonable, and said, "It seems feasible. We can also use sniping to cover our movements, try to clear two or three passages for stealth attacks. However, I have another concern, about the Wild Wolf pack. If the Wolf King senses the situation turning against him, would he ask the White Wolf King to summon the Wild Wolves for help?"

"That's very likely. They have that capability. In comparison, I'm more worried about the enemy not being in the Wolf's Den. What if they're hidden behind us? What will we do if, when we are exhausted, they suddenly attack? If the Wolf King isn't in the valley but has left with his elite, aren't we wasting our efforts?" Lan Xue expressed her concerns, her eyes drifting towards the direction of the valley, her expression grave.

"These possibilities exist, but we have no better method. We just have to go ahead with it, though we really need to be cautious against a sneak attack from behind. Let's see how it plays out; however, I believe the Wolf King is in the valley," Luo Zheng firmly said.

"Reason?" Lan Xue asked.

"Two points. First, the Wolf King is a proud man, this much I can tell; second, due to mutual hatred, if it weren't for your team locking him down from the forest last night, he would have torn me apart on the spot. He has already come to know my identity through other channels, and he hates me to the bone. A proud man like him would not likely hide; third, they have a helicopter and could leave at any time, hiding in the valley makes more sense," Luo Zheng explained.
