Strongest Side-Character System: Please don't steal the spotlight

Chapter 40: Fallen curse Blessing

A crackle burst through the collapsing silence as Vonjo stood in the wreckage of the once-elegant dining hall, framed by shattered crystal chandeliers and charred velvet curtains.

His chest rose and fell, slowly, rhythmically—as if to calm the hurricane inside.

Above the scene, glowing lines of neon text scrolled across the translucent system screen suspended in midair like a holographic projection in a dark theatre.

[SoulStream - Comment Sync Active!]

[SilkVixen33]: OMG VONJO JUST ANNIHILATED THAT ROOM 😭🔥🔥🔥

[ZeroDawnX]: Yo did you see how he smiled? That's not a smile. That's a declaration of war.

[Simponaut45]: Bro got looks, power, a little sad backstory AND aura. Marry me. I'll bark.

[PogLordV1]: R-Rip the room. But seriously... was that even a high-tier spell? That felt like brute will alone.

[VanceAppreciationClub]: But Vance tho 😭 long hair violet baddie. I can't betray him even if Vonjo's hot, after all, we love badboys!!

[ThighsBeforeGuys]: Honestly, they both can kill me and I'll say thanks. But I like this better, he treated my Gojo back so bad in the past.

Vonjo grinned faintly. His eyes, normally like cool silver, shimmered with pride and just a hint of vanity. They get it. Finally. He tilted his head slightly as more comments burst forward, too fast to read.

But then… his smirk faltered.

A particular comment struck him like an invisible slap.

[InfoLeaker999]: Holy shit, so that was Vonjo's backstory. He didn't awaken his bloodline ability from the Sutterfouse Family in the past, and he has awakened it now for some unknown reason. He was so confident in it that he claimed to be the strongest!

Vonjo's blood chilled.

His pupils shrank.

Wait… His thoughts spiraled. How…?

Vonjo read the bullet comments again. Soon, all the hairs on his back stood up! Did they see my backstory? He immediately perspired.

Then, a sudden cold chime—Ding!—rippled through the system screen.

A new, special message unfurled.

[System Directive – "Side Character Emotion Transparency" Unlocked]

Due to your Side Character designation, your emotions, thoughts, and key past humiliations will automatically leak into the Bullet Comment Feed whenever emotionally unstable or narratively intense moments occur.

This is to help the Main Characters feel more important and contrast their growth.

Only System Features remain hidden.

Your pain? Not so much.

Congratulations. You're compelling now.

Act accordingly.

Vonjo stared at the message. Jaw clenched. Breathing tight. After a long time and making sure to read them again if it's true. He felt a cold sweat.

"...So that's it," he muttered. "Even my shame is broadcasted? I'm a walking backstory highlight reel for the others?"

He nodded once. His grin didn't return. Only a slow, simmering fury danced in his eyes now.

"Then I can't be emotional anymore." His voice was hollow, resolute. "Fine. I'll just be the strongest."

But chaos wasn't done yet.

Near the far end of the crumbled dining hall, groaning echoed. Attendants lay half-buried under rubble, twitching, coughing. A few guards gripped their spears with broken arms, crawling to their knees in defiance of shattered bones.

The head attendant, the one who'd earlier ordered everyone to exit politely, now screamed as if he'd seen a nightmare unfold in real time.

"No! No, no, no! This cannot be! This must be a dream! We were supposed to host the Sutterfouse banquet! We had contracts! We had sponsors!" His voice cracked, saliva flying as he stumbled backward from the scorched mahogany walls. "You! Y-You destroyed the priceless Dragonwood table! That was a relic from the First Flame War!"

He pulled at his hair, face pale. "My career... My life! There was a Preservation Rune! There was a protection seal, damn it! That should've saved the dishes at least—WHY DID THE SAUCERS STILL EXPLODE!?"

The attendants shrieked. The guards wept.

Meanwhile, more bullet comments stormed in:

[AuraGoddess]: VONJO IS SO STUPIDLY HOT WTFFF 🔥🔥🔥

[BackroomSorceress]: He flexed without even flexing. That's elite-tier control.

[SaltedMage]: Power. Aura. Face. Voice. Vibes. Guy's a five-course meal with forbidden seasoning.

[CrownJester]: BUT WAIT… someone just said Vance still alive??

[ExpositionDump21]: STOP. There's no way anyone survives that unless—wait. Wait, scroll back!

Then a new comment slithered in, different from the praise.

[LegendSniffer89]: Okay but if Vonjo wants to beat the GOAT Lorthran, he's got a long way to go. Lightning Emperor? Untouchable. Even Eugene couldn't match his last arc.

Vonjo blinked.

The comment vanished in the storm of praise, drowned instantly.

But it remained lodged in his mind like a sliver under the skin.

So that's still the benchmark? Lorthran… The Lightning Emperor. Eugene's other teacher…

He exhaled. No—he forced the thought out of his head.

That doesn't matter.

This display was enough. I already killed dozens of beasts earlier for spectacle. This brother-kill was just seasoning. Nothing more. The real message was clear.

I'm ready to challenge the best.

But just as he started to savor that confidence—

A sound pierced his thoughts.

It was laughter. High-pitched and sound so familiar.

Then… the same laugh echoed again.

Vonjo turned slowly.

Standing in the very center of the cratered marble, clothes still torn in a perfect donut shape, stood Vance.

Grinning.

Uninjured.

The stomach that should have been carved open was instead bare—and sculpted. His chiseled abs practically shimmered under the blood-speckled light.

Vonjo's eyes widened. His chest tightened.

What?

His mind reeled. That attack… it hit. I know it hit. The way his body twisted—it should have gone through. The blood, the way he screamed—

But there was no wound.

Only pristine flesh.

And a glimmer of power humming beneath the skin.

Vonjo thought of three explanations in rapid succession—illusion, substitution, maybe divine intervention—but none fit. None explained the reality he saw.

Then, Vance threw his arms wide.

"HAHAHAHA! LOOK AT YOUR FACE!" he screamed at Vonjo. "ARE YOU WONDERING WHY I AM NOT HURT EVEN THOUGH YOU ATTACKED ME LIKE THE SNAKE YOU ARE!?"

Vonjo stood there, not moving. He was surprised; he had attacked him, and his stomach should have been pierced open like a donut. So why?

Then Vance winked at Vonjo. "Go again! You've got four more, big brother! Hurry! Hit me harder! You won't be able to hurt even a single hair on my body!"

[QueenofUnderworld]: AH!! ME TOO!! HIT ME AND BLOW IT TO ME TOO!

[Sunshine_ofyour_Morning]: AHHH me too! I want it too. Give it to me too, Vonjo saaaaaan.

[BatGirl_Basket]: These two make me go wild!

The girls were going crazy in the bullet chat, but Vonjo was not paying attention. He was still confused and wanted to understand, so he raised an eyebrow. "Four… more?"

Vance roared, "YES!"

Vonjo hesitated.

Then he smirked. "Alright. Don't say I didn't warn you. PREPARE TO DIE!"

He shot again, and there was another explosion. Brighter. Louder. The room ignited in cascading waves of energy.

And again—again!—Vonjo's eyes saw it connect. Vance took the full blast to the chest once more! His chest was literally blasted! But when the smoke of destruction covered him again and the dust settled, there stood Vance.

Untouched and uninjured. Only his clothes were blasted!

"Hahahahahaha!" Vance laughed out loud.

Vonjo's mouth parted. "What the… fuck…?"

Before he could process—

Bullet comments exploded.

[ArchetypeHunter]: WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF

[FallenLoreBinge]: NO WAY. THAT'S FALLEN CURSE BLESSING. NO. WAY.

[LoreWarden_XV]: How the hell did he awaken it?! He's not even fifteen!

[BleedingSigil]: THAT'S THE BLESSING THAT LETS YOU SEE THE ANGELS BEFORE THEY FELL WTF

[HolyCanonReject]: BRO THAT'S PRE-FALL ANGELIC ENERGY. PURE. UNSULLIED. WTF WTF WTF WTF

[SaintlyDegenerate]: HOW IS VANCE… NO FUCKING WAY.

Vonjo's lips trembled. His stomach sank.

Fallen Curse Blessing…? That's not… possible.

It was a legendary ability of all sorcerers in this era—a fluke of birth, luck, and madness. An echo of the angels before they turned. Before the celestial fall. Before humanity's exile into this hell-mirror of a world.

To possess it meant one had taken a glimpse of their grace. To remember their purity.

Vonjo staggered backward, his entire worldview cracking like glass.

Even unaffiliated sorcerers, wild-born without Houses, rarely ever awakened it. Among noble bloodlines, it was an eternal myth.

And yet… there it was.

His little brother.

Radiating it.

Grinning like the damn world hadn't just changed forever.
